Splinter Cell: Blacklist

Oh another thing, did u notice if Fisher would automatically pick up an enemies weapon? I hated that in Conviction. Like sometimes I just wanted to equip a pistol but as soon as you took out an enemy ud automatically pick up his weapon.

Oh wow, that sounds awesome. Can't wait.

Did u fool around with the customization options at all? Interested to know what various looks we can equip for Fisher.

I need to get my PS3 fixed so I can play the HD trilogy again before this game drops.

That's not new for the series. That was introduced in Double Agent. Glad they are going back to that though. I despised the white wash they did for Conviction.

Oh I didn't know they did that in double agent. Yeah its back and awesome. Early on you barely get anything so I didn't check out any customization options. you dont pick up their guns automatically

Oh F**K yes!

Did you get the chance to like pick your load out before the mission? Curious as to what the options are. Can you enter a mission with just a side arm?

I wasn't allowed to but its the first mission, I think after that it looked like you would be able to.

The first actual mission after the cold opening, felt a lot like Arkham City in that you suit up in a cutscene and then all of sudden you hear the night vision goggles sound and I had the biggest smile on my face. It's bad ass

You've deff increased my excitement for this game. I feel like I did before Chaos Theory came out and that's still one of my fav games of all time and hands down the best in this series. So stoked

Do you all think that another reason for a younger Sam Fisher is due to the film adaptation with Tom Hardy? Not that Hardy will start doing the games too, but they'll have a better age correlation with the Fishers.

It had nothing to do with that. I bet some how when they even did this it didn't register to them that he would seem younger to every one else that doesn't work there. they just wanted to work in new game play.

I dont think so. I think it came down to the fact that they wanted to use mo cap with their actors and Ironside isnt really in the shape to be running around any more. Im also assuming they were pleased enough with the new guys performance that they really felt they could move on from Ironside.

I think making him appear younger was a conscious decision. This franchise clearly still has legs under it and they probably wanted to keep the franchise going with their lead. I still wish they would of rebooted, like Casino Royale. Keep Fisher, but come in with a clean slate. That would of made the loss of Ironside much easier to swallow.

It would have been missed opportunity to have Sam be the boss /director Ala Rainbow six cutter and I wanted to see that happen though. And likes Cutter it took a bit before he left the field as a field agent but he left and took on the directors roll and let his younger partner take over . the only difference between Sam and Cutter is we might get to Experience the events as he gradually makes the transition, with Sam unlike cutter which I'm cool with. That and they both are former s.e.a.l.s. turned agents that made their own way with in this universe.

To me Sam as the boss, younger voice, younger looking. Almost all new characters. It basically is a reboot. Yeah they're story beats that reference Conviction but things like him being in charge is something that could be part of a reboot. It's obvious they thought of this as sort of a reboot. Use a few story threads from the previous game but by in large not much

  • yeah well most reboots usually head back to the point where he'd have someone be the boss of him like M with bond so. like start over from scratch again . this is one of those case's it's not "the case" of that kind of a deal so it doesn't matter. I just rather not head back like that for now with Sam I just rather move forward and have what happened to Cutter be done with Sam. Brigg's is to Sam(some what) as Ding was to Cutter. and I want to move further ahead with that.

I don't think it's concrete that that movie's even happening.

the movie is happening it's not related to why he looks or more to it feels younger in the games though. what ever. I bet you if you ask the dev's that next week in that same kind of live stream from last night they will be baffled. you know what? save that for next week spies vs merc's I want to see their reaction when that questions asked.

Sounds good so far. Most are saying this is the best title since Chaos Theory. Awesome to hear.

Here's a quick rundown of reviews thus far:

EDGE 6/10

Kotaku 'NOT YET'?

IGN 9.2/10

Eurogamer 8/10

OXM UK 8/10

Polygon 8.5

OPM UK 8/10

Joystiq 5/5

GameInformer 9/10

Gamespot 8.0/10

GameTrailers 8.7/10

Mostly positive, and Spies vs Mercs is getting mostly universal praise despite what's being said about the single player from all of them.

The only thing that has disappointed me so far is whats being said about the co op. It feels more like a SP mission with a partner. That bites. The co-op in Chaos Theory was INCREDIBLE. I dont know why they dont go back to that format. You had to rely on your partner so much, it was as true a co-op experience as you can get.
