Splinter Cell: Blacklist

I don't know, I'd take a wait and see approach with the co-op, because it's been so long since Chaos Theory, that reviewers might be having a hard time remembering it in comparison to what Blacklist might be offering.

I'm liking what I'm hearing, though. Can't wait to get my hands on this game on the 20th.

Got the game today, just finished what I did in the demo. So far so good

Nice. Can you confirm a few things?

How detailed is the outfitting system? Can we rock balaclava Sam would use in the older titles?

Do you have a choice to just equip a side arm? Or do you also have to take a larger weapon?

Can you upgrade weapons? Add suppressors and the like? Can you take them OFF?

I'm not Jacob but to answer your questions yes to most of those. and I'll let jacobed answer in full better detail since that was directed to him.

new trailer with music.

I just glanced at the all the upgradable/customization stuff. So not sure about the balaclava, but there is some options towards your suit, you can change your color of the suit, the color of the lights and the color of your night vision goggles. As far as I can tell you always have to pick the larger weapon, even if you don't have one I believe Sam will just automatically throw one on his back from a knocked out enemy. Oh yeah you can definitely upgrade weapons. Upgrading is a huge part of the game. Just glancing at the menus, it looks like it'll be pretty overwhelming right away. You can also upgrade the Paladin with some pretty sweet upgrades.

I know a lot of places have kinda bashed the game for its graphics but when you're in mission, I think its a pretty damn good looking game especially the day time scenes. I've been trying to do a fully ghost playthrough and while that already didn't fully work out for me, I've at least stuck to the panther and at the end of every level they award you much more highly for going ghost and panther rather than assault. Ghost you get a x150 whereas Assault its just a x75. So I thought that was cool that they split it up like that. The level design is the real show stealer in this game, there are so many different paths you can take and it feels like they're finally able to cater the hardcore stealth as well as the people who just want to shoot everyone up. I'm liking Eric Johnson as Sam especially when he is talking to Sam or when he gets a bit aggrevated. When he is normally talking or giving orders, he kind of sounds bored, I think that is just because of the deep voice though.

I've only done a few missions but this is easily my favorite Splinter Cell so far.

Nice. Yea i dont know why they make you automatically equip a larger weapon, i HATED that in Conviction. Oh well, i just look at it like this, you had to have two weapons in the old SC games, whats different here?

Yeah, I think they had that in Chaos Theory too. I don't think it was the case in Double Agent, but there were whole sections of that game where you didn't have a gun.

I'll just stick with the SC-3000, and be happy with that. Atleast, I'm hoping that gun is in the game...

Either way, I'm really pumped to play this.

The customization and upgrading sounds like a really nice touch. I'm sure I'll stick with an all black/green light look...but the fact that you can customize that is pretty cool.

It would depend on the environment mostly wouldn't it ? But I was kinda thinking the same til I remembered that.

If the camo patterns give you certain boosts for certain levels, ala MGS4, then that would be a great incentive to mix up the color schemes. And it'd be a nice treat to prepare a loadout for a ghost attempt, or go the other way for an assault attempt.

And make it an even better challenge to go through a sun drenched level dressed like special ops ninja.

In all the previous SC games you couldnt change your weapons at all, you had your SC3000 and pistol. The only thing you could alter were the attachments for your rifle(sticky shockers, grenades, etc). SC:Conviction was the first game that allowed you to customize what weapons you started the mission with.

So really its no different here. I just like choice thats all. I mean they are allowing us so much freedom, wish theyd go a little step further and allow me to carry exactly what i wanted.

yeah it would be cool if you can plan accordingly like that. and pick up boosts for the right attire and gear for that mission. and what you said reminded when you made the right chose like that in Alpha protocol. good and bad Spy craft.

I agree that would be awesome if they did that.

Anyone's pre-order from amazon been shipped yet?

I've tried checking the status of my order, but turns out Amazon is down.

different suits give you different attributes so however you want to play and you can have a few loadouts so you can have a loadout for ghost and one for assault if you want. Also the SC3000 is definitely back

Nice. I really wasnt all that excited for this game(odd since I'm a huge SC fan) but over the last week or so, my excitement has gone through the roof. Can't wait to play it. I also watched Olympus has Fallen last night and am really in the mood to dispatch some terrorists.

Also, how is the 'killing in motion'? Pretty cool?

Spies vs Mercs. Holy hot damn. Freakin addicting

I think I'm going to really have to pour time into that early on. I'm currently only missing the multiplayer achievements for DA (which I think I might be able to get offline, but hear it'll take forever) and just missing some of the CO-OP ones for Conviction.

Gonna need to be pretty hardcore with the multiplayer if I want to get all of the achievements for this one. And I'm a huge Splinter Cell fan, so I'd like to do that.

It really does. The best part is that its equally fun to play as a spy or a merc

Never managed to play it on Chaos Theory, but I did in Double Agent. Did it change much in Double Agent? Or was it more or less like Chaos Theory's?

They were basically the same I want to say. This has a mode identical to those or it has the very fun Blacklist svm

Same basic objectives but gameplay was a lot different. It wasnt nearly as good as Chaos Theory's SvM. The gameplay was sped up in comparison and the Spies were actually further nerfed. Im hoping this is a return to form. From what i have seen, it really looks that way.

There's a classic mode that's a very slow game like chaos theory then there's Blacklist svm which is faster
