Splinter Cell: Blacklist

I can totally understand why they went with someone new, because they wanted someone who could act the part in both voice and physicality for all of the mo-cap stuff, and it really looks great. And Johnson is a great actor. I remember him from the first season of Smallville, where rumor was he nearly got cast as Clark Kent for the show. I know he's been in a lot of other stuff since, and it's great to see him as the character, but it still sounds weird when you hear Sam speak and he sounds so much different.
To me what they should have done with sam is what they did with the character/ former director of Rainbow six Clark which was in the clear and present danger movie. if your the head of the organization and your aging you start become more of the man behind the scenes. . Now that being said when Rainbow six's director Clark who was played by Willem Dafoe in The "clear and present danger" movies first formed the organization of Rainbow Six, the director was still active in the field with his operatives and then he gradually became the man that over saw their missions from their HQ til he retired and had his son in law Ding take over. (who was also in that movie too.) I think this is what they have in mind for Sam since this is his first time being of the new Echelon Director. he's starting out an new organization and wants to do stuff his way cause he's an agent that's used to being in the field. but he'll gradually head to where he's supposed to after he's trains some people he trusts. this may be what they were trying to do but some it didn't work out to have iron side this do for one reason or the other mo cap wise. something fell through and it just didn't happen. most likely the thing with the mo-cap thin you mentioned . Sam can't be doing this forever. If it happened with John Clark it'll happen with Sam. eventually.

oh and heres the latest video.

Not too surprising. I wasn't really expecting them to release it so soon because it seems like it was being a bit rushed. Plus, with all of the other big name titles due out in the Spring, I think its better to hold off on this. I just hope it doesn't become another case like the HD trilogy that kept getting delayed every few months.

Also, just saw the Inauguration trailer, and it kind of sounds like Johnson is delivering the lines in a tone that is more like Ironside, which didn't seem to be the case in the first videos we saw.

Looks good. Bummer the game isn't coming out in April, but this is Ubisoft we're talking about, they have no idea how to stick to release dates.

Yeah, does look good. I'm fine with the release date move. Why don't Ubisoft just give themselves more breathing space when they know they struggle to keep to dates?

it's not like their the first to do this. Alot of other studios have pushed back from their release dates after they've announced it. though with them is often, at least their committed to making sure their product is polished. May be they are just the over excited types.

All true but if they gave themselves more time they wouldn't get a reputation for unreliability which can't be a good thing. It's like Molyneux-style regular over-promising. You stop getting taken seriously & for no real benefit.

well we have to remember though, even though they do "do" this often they still deliver in the end and unlike the "movie industry" a push back doesn't mean a bad product on the way. It's the very opposite of that when it happens it mean they want to perfect itand make sure there as less flaws as possible.

Well unless your obsidian that's working for a publisher that's not in a good place financially. . That's the only example where there's trouble.

IGN had this interesting video up about what the new release date could mean about the possible release of next gen consoles, since this is the latest confirmed release date that we have so far for this year. I think they will definitely be revealed this year, but will not be released until next year at the earliest. But as they mentioned, I wonder if we might end up seeing something similar to the Double Agent release, where there is a next gen port that is released sometime after the original release.

I don't think moving the release dates back is bad at all & their games are good. They definitely should put it back if it's going to improve their game. But giving the incorrect date every time means they're doing something wrong. Either not working as efficiently as they should be (regularly) or more likely just unnecessarily over-promising.

yeah well that's why I like those dev's that say when their unsure "it'll be relesed when it's ready" Even David Brevik that's on the marvel MMo said that. Ubisoft is a good developer but they need to take a page from some other dev studios PR people and say that for a change . they'll have a lot less trouble .

Haha, I like that..that's what I'd say if I was in charge!

The game looks really good. It also might be one of the last big games of this gen, pretty cool.

I just hope this doesn't fall into the same hole that ACIII did, in that it looked very impressive, but was over-hyped and felt more disappointing because of that.

I think the 360 & PS3 can continue for a fair few years while the next gen guys settle in. I don't know how many games will be made specifically for them though.

No doubt, but few have the track record as Ubi. Hell there's rarely a Ubi game that gets announced and ends up keeping the orig date they set. Ah well, a minor annoyance. At least it is coming, eventually.

Thats the users fault tho. I felt AC III delivered on everything i thought it would.

I'm not saying I dind't enjoy it. In fact, it's right up there with ACII as one of the best games I've played. But critically, despite some of the great scores it got, I don't think it lived up to what most expected it to be because it wasn't really in the discussion for GOTY like many of us, myself included, predicted it would be.

I was dissapointed with ACIII. I felt the character was unlikable until halfway through the game...and the overly long tutorial. And the mass amount of bugs like characters falling through floors just didn't do it for me.

I thought Connor was phenomenal, definitely a different character than we have recieved in games. I never once experience a bug which is wierd because it looks like they were a huge part of the game.

I'm jacked for this Splinter Cell. I absolutely loved Conviction

Yeah, there were a lot of complaints about the game that went beyond some of the stuff that made it look so great. Personally, I didn't have any issues with glitching, but I know a lot of people did, and there were also issues with how the story dragged for the first half, but then seemed to rush in the second half, which I could understand. By the time the GOTY announcements were being made, I could totally understand why it was "snubbed".

Yeah, I liked the character too, and I would love to play as him again some day. But I wonder how much of the semi-cliffhanger ending impacted people's view the game and franchise overall.

As for Splinter Cell, I'm curious to see how it does because I never followed the industry when the games first came out, but I always felt like as popular as the titles were, they were always in the shadow of something like the Metal Gear Series. So I'm curious to see how this revamped version is received now that it is multi-platform and seems to go back to the original look of the series.

Yea I'm still not sold on Connor. Maybe if we get some more story with him but at the end of ACIII I wasn't completely feeling the dude.

I think one of the things that hurt Connor as a character was the fact that he didn't really seem to be an assassin, or really someone who believed in the cause. I think he had a great story that was compelling. I'd probably do a few things differently with that, but by the end, I definitely wanted to see more of him.
