Star Trek Beyond - Part 3

I find it very hard to believe that the cgi in one of these films is "butt ugly". The last two films have some of the best cgi in modern cinema.

This film is the most faithful to the overall Star Trek franchise. It feels much more like the TV series did. I love the new uniforms, they are much more reminiscent of TOS.

:huh:The uniforms in the first two films are damn near identical to the TOS uniforms. They even had the same seams. The Star Trek Beyond uniforms look less reminiscent of the TOS uniforms.

Death by Bestie Boys
was awesome <3 and the best part of the entire move :)

So
what does the new Enterprise-A look like
?
I found it to look
a bit like the 1701-D in terms of sleekness to the design. Like if the D had a completely round disk instead of the oval shape, and had round nacels as well.

It looks like they wanted to mix the TOS uniform with the TNG uniform style.

Yes to the first three. I hope Sofia comes back in No. 4 as well because I LOVED her.

As for Krall, I'm not sure. I wish they explained it a bit more in depth how he became what he became and I totally didn't get his big plan - that part was kind of underdeveloped. What was that weapon, I mean what would it do to the population - just kill it ??? His side of the story was kind of underdeveloped for my taste, very MCU villain - not counting Loki/Killgrave/Kingpin

This movie actually felt like a 2-hour big budget episode of a Star Trek series, with a lot of action.
Is being a two hour episode bad?

Just like the other one. I couldn't tell the difference, but you only see it for a few seconds at the end of the film before the credits.

I thought it was a good quality. Yes it's "episode" like but even more so, I'd say it's a throwback to sci-fi films of the 50's like Forbidden Planet, but with added action.

It's the material in the uniforms, more of a matte look than the small starfleet insignia patters that textured the other ones. I thought it just looked better on screen, plus the removal of all the JJ lens flare. When you watch some of the scenes especially early in the film, it just looked great on screen.

Who said that? The CGI is awesome. The space station that the Enterprise crew saves was incredible looking, it was something I've just not seen in any other sci-fi films.

To those who have seen it, how is Krall as a villain (no spoilers, please)?

Is he as good as Cumberbatch's Khan? Has he got personality or he is more of a generic type of villain? What about the action?

Thank you.

In my opinion no. I know some here hated Khan in Into Darkness, especially the hardcore Trek fans (which I thought I was a pretty hard core Trek fan, but apparently not).

Cumberbatch is a brilliant actor and I thought he did a great job bringing a unique perspective on a well known character.

Krall is a complex villian, and there's a very huge reveal about the villain that I thought was a good take. He is a villain that's more in the mold of Nero than Khan though. But I also really like Nero.

Nero's biggest problem is that he and his motivations were underdeveloped. And if you're going to try and make him essentially "Spock's Khan," which is what they clearly going for, you cannot do that and have it really work.

Gonna see this around 230pm EST. I hope I enjoy it. Taking my mom and my grandma. Mom is an original 60's Trek fan who liked the previous two films. Hopefully it lives up to the hype so far.

i have to wait till September to watch this. Kill me.

I will tell you without hesitation, if she loved the original show, she will love this film, hands down. :)

Stark Trek movies usually don't appeal to me. But the trailer for this just makes me wanna watch it so bad. The film looks so confident in itself. :D

Thanks for answering my question, Stark!

P.S You always wear such nice suits :D

Just saw it today, I think it is my favorite of the reboot series and I really enjoyed the first two. 9/10.

Any specialty merchandise given away at any of screenings, cups or posters?
