The Dark Knight Rises The 79th TDKR General Discussion & Speculation Thread

Probably thrown off by how simplistic her costume was and how she was portrayed as supporting cast/ally in the trailer. GA could probably mistake her for batgirl in the previews if it weren't for the seductive stuff.

Most people here were aware of Hathaway's casting as Catwoman but a few have made Batgirl comments, so it's possible.

Batgirl. They obviously don't read the comics, and they still see Catwoman as a villain from the '60s show, so when they saw her fighting along side Batman, they just assumed.

LOL, an innocent mistake to make then.

DING DING DING!

Called it. :oldrazz:
Heh, yeah.

And they looked even more puzzled when I explained who Bane was. They were like, "okkkkkkkk". They're still going to see it, though. They liked the first 2.

Sigh. I thought this month was supposed to be the beginning of the media blitz. Oh well. Thanks for the info, though.

It was. Either they're being extremely secretive on purpose or just lazy as hell. I think it's mostly the latter. Inception and TDK both had TV spots by now.

And he only been referred to by name once not counting the prologue. I think it's more important that people are intrigued by the film and want to see it than they are familiar with any individual character who's not Batman (or been in previous installments). Once they see the movie they'll definitely know who Bane is.

I agree. This is a Batman flick after all. If you can't reach an audience beyond villains then you have no business making movies. Nolan, I honestly believe, has recaptured the general audience's attention for one more round, and that much has been proven since last year.

A couple of my friends didn't know Catwoman was in the movie, even after watching the 3rd trailer.

My friends are better now. They now know that Catwoman will be in the movie. They still don't give a **** who Bane is though. I always get a blank stare when I explain him to them. :hehe:

"He's the villain famous for breaking Batman's back."

"Okay...?"

:(

You hear it all the time, that this is Batman, it will make big dollars regardless. The film will be good, marketing won't make it any better or worse. Yes, that is true. But to sit on your hands and give the very bare minimum in coverage can promote frustration and not just anticipation. I'm really only asking for existing still to be released in high resolution at this point. I don't see the big issue in doing that. Oh well. It's out of our control. I just hope they don't leave things too late. If there's stills/photoshoots of Hardy, Hathaway and Bale out there I'd like to see them, and not for them to be hidden away. I want to document the film. Around now is the time to do it, because even though it will be a fantastic movie, it will come and go and it'll probably be harder to get them out than it is now.

Did anyone here tracked WB's marketing of HP? I'm just curious how their "marketing" of TDKR so far compares to how they marketed/promoted HP last year.

Nolan said that the proloque for 'Rises' was, and I quote: "Basically the opening of the film". Basically? It might be shortened down a bit in the beginning. I'm talking about Gordons speech. it felt weirdly rushed, imo.

I could still see it opening with the icy bat-symbol as shown. Than fading over to this memorial day in Gotham, held in honor of Harvey Dent, SHORTLY after the events in 'TDK'. A nice calm, not rushed opening, with a longer beautiful speech to Dent held by Gordon. He than ends it with the words, "I believed in Harvey Dent".....than.....BOOM! (No, seriously. A boom is heard) and in the same exact instant, we cut to black. A few seconds of nothing goes by. Than, on screen it fades up: "EIGHT YEARS LATER". We first than open up to the plane hijacking sequence, and CALMLY, the audience is tuned in to "TAKE OFF!"... But that's just a dream of mine.

I don't see him breaking Batman's back, but what if he broke Scarecrow's back?

I like what I've heard of Bane cleaning Batman's clock; it's appropriate and frightening in it's graphic nature. It's done Knightfall it's justice and more, if the rumor is correct... which I believe it is. :hrt:

If Batman's back was broken then he healed veeeeerrrrrryyyyy fast. Bruce's beard looks like just a few months old when he escaped that prison.

OK... What's this about Bruce being in prison and escapes??? enlighten me, please. I'm lost here.

I feel like it was pretty similar, just the trailers with the tag about "it all ending" or whatever. But if I recall, I believe they had begun a barrage of tv spots by this time. Hell, I'm getting accosted by Avengers spots on a daily basis it seems like, and that movie has already destroyed everything in the box office ever.

Ok. Bruce goes to prison, and then he escapes.
You don't say... :whatever:
But do we know how this happens? Is he captured in the beginning of the movie or what? Has this been confirmed at all?

Perhaps Bane gave Bruce some razors out of pity.

You never know with those "freaks".
