The All Things Flash Thread. - Part 1

I feel that Johns is as far as the comics side of things will go when it comes to any kind of real influence/involvement with the DCEU.
I still think his "promotion" is a PR stunt.

They got a POC director on a white character (something that probably triggered a "Wait, we can do that?" from Marvel)

Then Marvel said "Sure we can! In fact we already did it eight months ago!"

Yeah, and that's unfortunate. While he's good at elevating characters like GL or Flash, his Batman has not been so good, and the most notable thing he did with Superman was have Gary Frank draw him like Chris Reeve, and I say that as a fan of his Action Comics run.

This franchise just can't escape bad news. I'm not convinced even with Johns allegedly in charge there's a clear path.

His Aquaman run was pretty fantastic, and Throne of Atlantis and Darkseid War were pretty good JL stories as well I felt. I liked his Batman there.

The bad news signal shines and jmc shows up. I imagine you're like Bruce Wayne, from 'Batman Returns', sitting in that dark room just waiting for trouble.

How did Darkseid in Darkseid War compare to his appearance in Justice League: Origins? Because Darkseid in origins was just trash.

While that might be true, his work in the DCEU is pretty far-reaching. He is a co-writer for WW and Batman, and has story credit for JL and Aquaman. While he might just be a nominal figure, he is getting a lot of input(supposedly) in the script stage. And while I'm in no way his biggest fan, and neither am I fan of this "course correction", he revitalized the DC comics universe quite well in rebirth. While that maynot translate to films, one has to say, the guy gets these characters and he is a pretty imp fig at DC right now.

Not exactly like there's anything else to talk about. Although I do find the image of that to be hilarious.

Yep he was trash. I liked Darkseid in war much more than origins. Not my favourite incarnation by any means though.

There are other things. Marvel, Star Wars, sport, music, etc. Or does your whole life revolve around DC? :woot:

Maybe you should get a real job. It'll give you something else to do. :oldrazz:

I'm at work right now. :hehe:

Pretty much everything that can be seen as "positive" or a "step in the right direction" has come off as a PR stunt in some way.

His having a background in the film/TV industry is probably the major reason he's in the position he's in. Still baffling that WB is just floundering with the DCEU given their resources.

A good DC movie is like spaghetti.

What got me recently was their box office reporting. They seem to like to paint things in the best light unless something is a clear bomb from the jump. But even with Warcraft, they got weird.
That's my problem. When Finke was in charge, she would never sugarcoat anything or allow any sugarcoating as the head honcho.

Was that really necessary?

Also, how realistic/unrealistic would it be for Joss Whedon to do this movie? Not sure if Flash would be up his alley though. I mean, if WB made a Birds of Prey movie, I could see him being all over that.

It's fine. I mess with jmc like this all the time. He can take a joke.

Yeah and I don't care about jmc enough to make it personal.
