I would think the whole "Ultron being funny" is just a reference to his rather awkward style of communication.

To the comics fanboys/girls, what are the definitive "classic" and "modern " Ultron arcs?

These are the some of the main classic storylines:

"Origin of Ultron" (Avengers v1 #54-55)
"Behold The Vision" (Avengers v1 #57-58)
"The Return of Ultimate Ultron" (Avengers v1 #66-68)
"The Bride of Ultron" (Avengers v1 #161-162, #170-171)
"Ultron Unlimited" (Avengers v3 #19-22)

Ultron Unlimited is my favorite out of that bunch. I think that story really portrayed just how dangerous a threat Ultron could be as he wipes out an entire country. This also featured Thor's famous "Ultron, we would have words with thee" line.

Thanks guys, I'll certainly be checking those out.

If anyone could make a quick Avengers reading list (for all Avengers mythology, not just Ultron), what would you choose? Trying to catch up on the Avengers comics as I mostly read Batman comics.

Also, just as we are discussing the best Ultron stories, what are James Spader's best movies? For someone who has no idea who he is and has never seen his films before, what would you recommend?

Man I'll have to re-read some of these. Ultron Unlimited is the best though and Thor better say that line.:woot:

Some James Spader movies to check out:

Tuff Turf, The New Kids, Pretty in Pink, Less Than Zero, Jacks Back, Bad Influence, Sex Lies and Videotape, White Palace, Crash, Stargate, WOLF, Secretary

How is the actual Age of Ultron storyline?

Avengers Assemble vol 1-5 collects all of Busiek's run from the late 90's/early 00's. It's excellent and Vol. 2 also contains the aforementioned Ultron Unlimited.

I also recommend Avengers Forever and Operation: Galactic Storm.

For older stuff look for The Korvac Saga and the Kree/Skrull War.

you want to be drunk, high, or at least in the company of witty friends when you watch 'The New Kids.' it's, unintentionally, high comedy.

The first story introduces Ultron. The second story introduces the Vision, his son. The third story introduces adamantium. The Bride of Ultron shows that Scarlet Witch is Ultron's Kryptonite. The last story is the greatest Ultron story. The Age of Ultron miniseries is total crap

It was a sorry sight.:csad: I was part of the discussion in the comments if you know who I am over there.:oldrazz:

We know you Teekay.. its easy to spot the handful of MCU fans and positive posters from the rest

VISION's powers: Is it possible that Ultron uses Hank Pym's sciency science to help create him?

It sounds like Ultron tried to give Vision the same powers as Ant Man (resizing) but instead he got the phasing/density kind. There has to be some explanation how he gets his powers in the MCU. Not sure how they could do it otherwise. Would they skip that whole concept for something else? We'lll see...

Well helllllllllllllllloooooo #FridayReads!

I'm working through Gruenwald's Cap run, but I'm hitting these today too! Thanks for the recs. :woot:

ETA: Looks like "Origin of Ultron" is definitely in the MarvelUnlimited library. (That's how I'm catching up on all these goodies…)

James Spader is a really good Southern teen creep in this one.
