I may be the only one, but I´m into the idea of Cap 3 going later than May 2016, because we will see Steve as Cap in Avengers 3 after Cap3, but Cap3 is the last film focused on that character, I hope for it to be as good as the second film, and that film benefited a lot for the time they had to write the script and the directors to prep and everything, though the team is all the same, which is good for quality and continuity, it just feels rushed that they will go so fast for Cap 3.
Also Cap3 released on May 2016 will go against Batman vs Superman film which seems to be rushing to have all the DC superheroes in there to establish for the JL film it is an unfair fight between the two films and Cap3 deserves to go on a high note as IM3 did with the success and all.

Batman v Superman, Captain America 3, and Star Wars Episode VII all releasing on the same day?

That's just not going to happen. If it did, it will be Ragnarok at the theaters.

oh no, it is either going to be Cap3 against BvS or SW against BvS... both Cap and SW are under Disney studio, they would never have their two products competing...

I wouldn't be surprised if they moved the date. Ford broke his freaking LEG, and he's 71. It's going to take a long time for him to be able to walk normally, let alone run or do any action stuff. They can use a double but not for everything. It's either delay filming or do script rewrites to cut down Han's role, which will also result in delays.

My money is on them moving the date to May 2016. It's much more of a summer movie anyway. If they're making noises on doing it, then I think they've already decided to do it and are just preparing people for the news.

Are you kidding me? Jesus-- poor Marvel. Seriously. I mean I mostly blame WB for being childish... Star Wars? Disney will probably sacrifice/move Cap.

Marvel has to move for no reason on their part. Great.

I'm surprised most of you guys think Cap3 would beat out BvS. I like Cap and all, but I never thought people would miss out on seeing two of the most iconic superheroes of all time in the same movie.

Beat out BvS? No way. Does anyone here think that? I haven't heard anyone say that.

Most people think it'll never happen anyway, but if it did, it would only hurt both movies. Neither would make as much as it should.

They should move cap maybe 3 weeks EARLIER. The market for superhero films is getting diluted. I think cap 3 would benefit from opening and taking the money earlier and let bvs get the scraps/sloppy seconds a few weeks later

I don't think it would beat out bvs. I think cap will make less and same date would hurt both movies.

All I know is if Cap goes against BvS I'll be buying as many tickets for Cap as I can afford that weekend. I'll probably even by one for Cap and then waltz on over to BvS haha

I'll probably see BvS first... My theatre will probably schedule it for vmax first and leave Cap in 1 or 2.

I am OK if Cap moved to April, but the fact is they shouldn't and didn't have to 7 months ago. Now people are telling Marvel to pack their bags and leave because they're being arrogant?

Like I mentioned a few pages back, I think WB did alter Marvel's May 2016 plans. I'm sure it was supposed to be Thor 3 on that date. Now we're getting a sequel 4 years after The Dark World (May '17). And now THAT is going up against Justice League.

The good thing about DC's plans? Hopefully WW in July prompts Marvel to do Black Panther (assuming they've got a film scheduled for July 2017). Wasn't there a rumor awhile back that said Marvel was deciding on Hulk, GOTG 2 or Black Panther for 2017?

BVS is probably going to trump it. I think even as much as the fans hated Man of Steel, the novelty of finally getting to see Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman together onscreen is going to give it the push it needs to get ahead of Cap.

If Cap and BvS go at it the only outcome I see Cap winning is the long game and that would mean that BvS is super front loaded, gets horrible word of mouth and Cap has another stellar movie. I don't see Cap beating the DOM opening WE even if the BvS reviews are horrible. And with the way WB/DC are trying to shoehorn every JL member they can into this movie I can see that as a real possibility. Either way both movies make less than they could as has been stated before.

Now if Disney really wants to troll WB/DC they bump Cap up a few weeks and then release SW:VII against BvS since Ford's injury and all. That would be hilarious since it is one of the most beloved franchises of all time with the returning cast back in action. I could def see SW:VII taking the top spot in that scenario.

I´m not watching BvS, but just because I´m not watching it, doesn´t mean all the people won´t run to watch it, for most comic fans having so many DC superheroes together in one film, it is an event just as much as the first Avengers was. So as much beloved as Cap has become and even with all the hype from AoU, Cap would not do well against the DC/WB film, but Marvel had that date... now it is DC/WB showing the finger to Marvel and saying "look how many ****s I don´t care because I have this tank against you!":oldrazz:

but IDK, these many comic books films, at some point they will start saturating the market.... but other than that I think movies like Cap and Thor, worked well outside the typical summer season, why not keep with that?

On the other hand if it weren´t for the DC film, I think Cap3 on that date would have killed it!! but without these tank against him.

I don't want it to happen, but if Cap got bumped to a later date so that SW could take the May slot, then I'll admit I would find it a little amusing at how spectacularly WB's power play would have backfired on them. Thinking you're playing chicken with a solo Captain America movie, only to find yourself facing down Star Wars instead? That would be some rotten luck, lol.

Marvel and Lucasfilm are on friendly terms with each other for obvious reasons. They will move Cap 3 for Star Wars 7 if asked to.

oooohhhh :hubba
this I like!!! :jedi

There have been some morons on other sites who though differently, not realizing both are Disney.
Ah, I see. Yeah there's a lot of talk of Cap getting bumped for SW, but that would obviously have to mean by the same studio/distributor that's releasing both of them. Like I said, that's gotta make WB just a little nervous considering their very public power play over that slot. I always thought they'd be the ones to blink first anyway (even though BvS would make more than Cap if they actually faced each other), but if they suddenly found themselves going up against SW instead of Cap in that spot? Them blinking first would essentially be a forgone conclusion, lol.

Cap swapping with SW is a brilliant, BRILLIANT idea.

I think Abrams will move. Last time he was asked there wasn't much to force him.

So it's pretty much a forgone conclusion we will be getting the phase 3 lineup at SDCC this year huh? SO far we know Ant-Man kicks it off, then Cap 3, Strange has a director so I assume he is in there. What other movies are likely besides A3?

:woot: I almost want them to do this. I don't know if they would because I figure Disney has quarterly earnings reports to consider and they might prefer to keep Star Wars' date in 2015 for that reason. But it's funny to imagine the reaction from the WB if it happened.

I just had a thought though... If Disney did force the WB to blink by replacing Cap 3 with SW, wouldn't there still be a chance of Cap and BvS releasing close together? Because I'm assuming Cap 3 would end up being moved to some time in June or July so as not to compete for screens with SW. But then the WB might end up pushing BvS to June or July for the same reason... lol.

I actually kind of sort of thought that this was Lucasfilm/Marvel/Disney's plans for a while.

Hmmm… what if they planned this whole Harrison Ford injury all along, to give them the appearance of taking that May date? :word:

:ninja:'d

Honestly, I really want Cap to move up to April. Even March if at all possible. They should start shooting early next year, right? If they start shooting a year in advance, they should be able to make April 2016.

Also, I require casting news for Cap 3. I HAVE A MIGHTY NEED PEOPLE.
