Hate to say it but this romance aspect in AOU sounds intriguing to me. I want to see what its all about now.

I think when Bruce yelled "STOP LYING TO ME!!" at Natasha, she got secretly turned on. It was almost like a lover's anger type moment. ;)

There's no way they could've had anything going on at that point.

Cant wait to see Hawkeye chillin with all the Avengers in party mode. Itll be about time.

Rock: Structure is structure. Genre wise it makes no difference if its a mafia movie or a super hero movie. Theyre both about families actually.

The more new and unexpected elements the better. Even if some of them don't fully work. Be as ambitious as possible Joss.

I go over for two weeks on a honeymoon, and come back and I feel so out of the loop.

Someone want to point form all this new Avengers rumors we're getting?

Didn't Fury say he was going to Europe to investigate Hydra at the end of TWS? He's on recon, when he finds Hydra bases he and his presumably small squad of loyalists can't take down he calls in "re-reinforcements" ie The Avengers.

Job done.

Ya .... SHOW that. Because at the end of CA:TWS nobody wanted to go with him. Obviously something has to be going on, which warrants them changing their minds.

Maybe Fury discovers the base with the Twins? And he's like "Yo Stark, Rogers... you might wanna check this out".

Jackson said he had a small role to play. Maybe that's it.

^^ Yeah he did say he was just passing through. What about Hawkeye? I keep thinking hes on recon too. Hes an agent, so it makes sense if he finds it and calls in the troops.

"Star Trek, Star Trek, whats the log?"

We pretty much know based on set photos that he's out there already ....

A retcon through dialogue wouldn't be too much of a reach. Didn't we have the first movie pretty much ignoring/abandoning the set-up introduced in Iron Man 2 so they could introduce the Avengers in a different manner? Tony even says the Avengers Initiative Fury and Widow had been babbling about in IM2 was "scrapped."

All this requires is whatever Fury finds in Europe being serious enough that Cap and Sam feel it trumps their search for Bucky. In fact, if its months or even a year later and they STILL haven't found Bucky, I can very easily see them deciding they've already wasted too much time that could've otherwise been spent helping people and put their hunt on hold.

My point is retconning thru dialogue is cheap. As I previously said, that's what they did with Thor in The Avengers and I think they should avoid that.

But if something is a main part of the story/plot (Loki & Thors relationship/past) doesnt that make it relevant to discuss some of it in the film? Its not like Loki had nothing to do with Thor whatsoever.

I think if anything gets mentioned in that style in AOU itll be SHIELD/HYDRA simply because it affected everything in such a huge way. Ex: The recruits cant just appear with no info on why theyre there.

That's not what I'm talking about though. In The Avengers we got a "where are they now" moment for Widow, Banner, Cap, and practically everyone else other than Thor. For him, they just plopped him down on top of a quinjet (which looked cool) and then had his arrival explained via Loki dialogue about Dark Energy .... which of course was never followed up on in T:TDW.

I expect that to be the case. There'll definitely be discussion about Stark's new global security business.

Bruce linking to the events in TIH by saying: "Last time I was in New York I sort of broke...Harlem".

I like those kinds of lines that give us enough info so we dont have to see a whole flashback.

That's a throwaway line though. It's not quite as important as how these guys reconnected.

Re: Thor He didnt need an intro like the others because 1) his film was set right before Avengers and we knew what happened to him. 2) he wasnt on Earth like the rest 3) He was a main part of the plot anyway since Loki is his bro.

These are very nitpicky things. Its like, why complain about stuff thats so minor and doesnt even hurt the movie? I just dont get it.

With all due respect, it's nitpicky to you. I'm not alone in regards to the comments about Thor as it was discussed many-a-time back when the movie first came out. For me personally it's one of the things I think of when Whedon even confesses himself that isn't wasn't a perfect movie ..... albeit the movie is still my 1b (CA:TWS is 1a).

2. Him not being on Earth doesn't not mean they couldn't have shown a sequence of him on Asgard in which Frigga notifies Thor of Loki's existence. Instead they relied on a prequel comic for that, which again is lazy.

3. Thor being a main part of the plot doesn't contradict my issue with how he arrived. We all knew he would arrive. What I'm calling into question is HOW he arrived. Just telling us thru Loki's words that Odin used Dark Energy to get Thor to Earth is not very Whedon. I assumed at the time it would make sense come T:TDW, but it was never discussed.

^^ I can see what youre saying, I guess it just didnt bother me as much as other people. I actually liked the way Thor suddenly appeared, it was cool/comic book-esque to me. It made Thor stand out like Heres the Thunder God from beyond.

Cap: "Whats the matter? Afraid of a little lightning?"

Loki: "Im not overly fond of what follows"

Ya, it was sheer badassery when he showed up on top of the Quinjet. That part of it I was fine with.

However, I felt it was still important to know how Thor came to be aware of Loki's existence. 99% of the audience out there never read the prequel comment or even knew of it to begin with.

I'm the "show me, don't tell me" type. Granted there are certain extraneous elements which will inevitably get wedged into dialogue.

^^ I thought Heimdall probably picked up that he was on Earth. Maybe Asgard was alerted by the Tesseract's energy or something. idk.

Well Loki knew how to cloak himself from Heimdall.

Actually, I'm sorry …. the prelude comic was for T:TDW so they retconned Thor's entrance in the Avengers after-the-fact. It showed how Frigga could see Loki's plans through his mind. That reminds me, there was also a line in the movie where Thor is aboard the helicarrier discussing what Loki was up to. He mentions how Loki has control over the Chitauri army, yet nowhere in the film is it explained how Thor knows that.

It's just stuff like that which can easily be cleaned up.

^^ Yeah thats right he just says hes working with the Chitauri but Loki never told him that in the film. When I watched it, I never questioned it, I just assumed Thor has connections to find that kind of stuff out, haha.

Can Thor communicate through his hammer or something? Do you think its like the scepter?

Odin probably told him, or Heimdall.

From a storytelling perspective that cannot be assumed.

The prelude comic shows that Frigga is the one who told Thor about Loki, the Chitauri, The Other, and Thanos. I feel like I've said that a thousand times now haha. But that scene SHOULD have been in the movie IMO.

^^ Frigga told him? Ok I see. I mustve missed that.

Now Im laughing because I can see Thor using the hammer like a phone. ohhh, lol. idk sometimes
