If you can simply "undo" asguardian (in the mcu, which is what we're discussing), then it just ain't natural born talent. Its alterations (technology) that can be undone with the flick of a switch.

Thor is unlike a human with his asgardian technology (in the mcu).

And he is referenced to be "like" a God. Not "A" God.

Funny how you ignored my post pages ago. Odin, in comics, can also undo the asgardian's (not asguardian)powers and immortality( and they're magical, supernatural beings); he's the All-Father.
By your logic, no asgardian has natural powers, which contradicts more than 50 years of comics. It's not that hard to understand, is it?

I'll be pissed off too. Dr Strange should be something entirely different. We're talking different dimensions and what not. I think we should judge how they're going to handle Stephen Strange by how Wanda's powers will work in this movie. Because in the Cap 2 mid- credits scene, she pretty much combined those two blocks into one and you could see the pink stuff around her hands as she levitated the blocks.:oldrazz:

It's funny that you mention her. In her thread a number of weeks back I was in this same argument with others about science and tech over fictional magic.

:lmao: But if that was the case, how come Thor is the only one who can lift.:hmm

Just because we can't understand their technology doesn't mean it's magic. Thor went over that in Thor 1. Maybe they (asgardians) have anti gravity tech (which some scientists today theorize might be possible) and possibly the opposite of anti gravity. Perhaps the nano tech in thor (when activated) neutralizes the extreme gravity in the hammer?

That was never about offending religious people. It was about Marvel being worried that suddenly jumping into gods and mythology would seem too "out there" after movies about two science-based heroes (junk science as a may be), so they thought people would buy into the concept if they made them space aliens who inspired Norse mythology instead.

If you look at it pretty much across the board they tried to downplay more fantastic or out there stuff in the movies. Joss Whedon even said he was told to downplay the more overt Asgardian stuff in the Avengers.

Well that sucks. It's no wonder Thor hasn't truly shown some EPIC feats of strength in most of the movies. Yeah he does some pretty cool and destructive attacks but I want to see more from someone who is/was looked at as a god.

I'm sure you're right about Marvel, being dumbasses thinking magic would be too out there when their first few characters were tech based but I do remember reading interviews quite a few years ago where Feige was kind of hesitant to answer a question in regards to offending religious people. I wouldn't be surprised if that also played a part in it as well.

We're talking about the mcu. Please, Try to keep up.

I got all excited when I saw all the new pages, surely there must be some awesome set pics or something right? But low and behold it's just one guy driving everyone crazy. I want the last 15 mins of my life back

I have not been talking about that. I've been talking about how the Avengers cast are doing great things outside of the filming.

Well Wanda's powers will settle this debate once and for all. It's gone on for way too long at this point.:oldrazz:

Thor's hammer was forged from metal of a dying star not some nano tech Jesus. This is ridiculous, someone else take over. My mind will go crazy with these kind of posts I'm reading. I'm out.

Im actually getting pissed because when you read it most of that THOR conversation is just ridiculous nonsensical BS yet its being stretched out more and more like theres some answer to uncover.

Dear lord... You didn't get what my point... I didn't think you were that slow.
Let me spell it for you: You said that if Odin can take an asgardian powers away, then these powers are nor natural, but a product of technology.
I said that this argument doesn't hold, since Odin can do exactly the same thing in comics, where asgardian's powers are innate and not technological at all. Your logic is flawed.

Don't worry. As I've said, there's no point arguing with someone that dense. I'll stop. Let's talk about how awesome Thor will be in AoU!:yay:

Guys do us a favor and take this to PM instead of doing it in this News Forum. Its not the right place for these dumb as f*** discussions that have no point.

hhrrrmmm let me help you explain...
hrrrrmmm... how about??... Thor.. God... Norse mythology... Thursday is in honor to Thor... :oldrazz: does this make sense in the real world?? should it make sense???
Now, all these put into comic books and it is just fun to read and watch... as Dr Strange will be too

There's no point man, he's gonna keep up these shenanigans.

I'm simply stating how it might exist in the mcu. No need to be so aggressive.

look at how loki flickers, definitely an imperfect technology. All their "powers" are most likely brought with advanced tech and dna manipulation. Thor hasn't controlled the weather without the hammer just like iron man hadn't shot a rocket out of his arm without his suit. That Right there is a big clue, thors lightning is obviously coming Thanks to his tech. His hammer.

voice activated tech or some other unexplained Asgardian tech. Humans made the super soldier serum during ww2 I'm sure Wth thousands of years had start the asgardians found a way to create more potent formulas with greater power, and the power to shut it off as well.

I'm sure dr.strange will explain his powers in a scientific way. He will find a way to channel energy and communicate with different dimensions and universes.i doubt he'll create voodoo dolls and start cursing people and inexplicably shoot green smoke at people.

You're an imperfect technology, dammit.

Great new pics of Thor today. I prefer his traditional look to the sleeveless look in Avengers but going sleeveless with the traditional outfit works really well. Best of both!

Sleeves look better. More combat ready.

It was nice for a change to me combining the sleeves with the cloak outfit. I love the traditional sleeved and cloaked outfit though, have zero complaints with it. Thor was one of the riskier characters when it came to getting his look right and they really nailed it.
