BvS The Batsuit Thread - Part 14

I haven't seen much discussion about the shape of the cape, even though it's one of the most important aspects of Bats' silhouette. A lot of people have talked about the draping of the cape over the shoulder vs. fully cloaking Bats in it vs. using claps and letting it hang of the back (TDK/R), but I mean more along the lines of the way the cape looks when expanded, how many scallops, etc.

Obviously the Nolan cape had it's own kind of original shape, and I think the cape was relatively consistent with the 6/8 panel that it had in the Burton/Schumacher films.

I'm personally torn. I love the silhouette of the Arkham cape (6 panel), but I wouldn't mind seeing one of the versions with a whole bunch of scallops as long as it's done right. If not, a bunch of scallops can look really lame and cheap, but in the hands of a proper designer I'm sure it could look really good.

That statue that was posted some pages back had a cool look, with the almost trench coat like split up in the bottom middle of the cape. I wouldn't be opposed to something like that either.

What do you guys want to see?

The scallop count dont bother me that much. But i do want another cloaking type cape. One that fully covers him when being stealthy but he can push back to just his shoulders when fighting/running. Batman begins had the best live action cape. I hated the towel cape from the dark knight but was happy to see Batman somewhat have the begins styple cape again in TDKR.

"Did you think you'd evade me..punk?"

As usual, the Arkham games nail it.

This would be very cool as well.

As for how it wraps around the shoulders, this is perfect imo

Snyder finally got Superman's cape right in the way that no-one else had before - I'm sure he'll "get it" with Batman's as well.

However the batsuit ends up looking, I'm sure Snyder will sell the hell out of it. I'm guessing that also includes all of the cape porn. All of it.

here's one I made while stuck on a cruise last week w/ no internet and without access to my usual program. Just to keep the flecking alive...

This looks fantastic. Did you just stick Affleck's face onto a pic or did you do the whole pic yourself?

And if the latter, how did you get the more painterly effect for the whole picture where it looks almost gouache or watercolour?

I hope they don´t use lenses. I prefer to see his eyes than something white.

^ I'm hoping we can see it too. Although they obscured the crotch region a bit for the superman suit reveal. Possibly to prevent freak-outs. But freak-outs and many zoom-ins ensued nonetheless.
Don't remind me of those dark years. Really could not believe the obsession with Superman's crotch. :whatever:

yeah those materials are nice. the belt looks plastic though. it is a good manip still.

Pretty neat. The body and materials are great but there is something seriously weird going on with the head.

I think what's making the head look weird is the way the side of the opening on the cowl covers his jaw. I should've probably opened it up a little.

My model, a little bit polished. It's a hires png and it's masked, so it's very easy to manip it. :yay: And if you like this vision of Batman, have some patience. I made something for Batman's anniversary. Hmm...you should really see the animated one.. :cwink:
