Whad'ya bet that the pic Kevin smith saw was something like the photo described above with Affleck's face put into the cowl... y'know... a manip ;)

Anyway, speaking of which, here's tonight's manip...

These are some pretty giant res pics, if you open them in another window.

Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!

Priceless!!! :woot: I wouldn't mind if they had the same texture (clothing) as the spidey's lenses but all white.

That's what i was thinking. It doesn't need to be sunglasses type reflective. Just have a layer that's similar to the 3M reflective material when light hits it. Kind of like those street signs and clothing for night visibility.

EDIT: BattleAngle that is epic! Stunning manip, specially the second one. I really really hope we get something like that!

It looks even more awesome when it's full sized. Well done.

Aww, and you even managed to squeeze some yellow into the belt.

Yes! Retractable is needlessly complex, and either involves adding extra bulk to the cowl to do the retracting practically, or cheating it with CGI where they retract away into nothing.
Nolan had the lenses retract into "nothing" for The Dark Knight.

That's also what appears to happen in the Arkham games. There's not realistic space built into the cowl for retractable lenses. And there doesn't need to be! Look at things like Iron Man. Do you really think that armor makes ANY sense in a real world? There's no way that it would work like that in reality, especially the more "portable" ones like the suitcase suit or the one from the climax in The Avengers.

If you were a superhero and wore safety lenses that didn't hamper your vision at all, why would you EVER not wear them?
To show his humanity when necessary. Batman doesn't ALWAYS have to present himself as a creature of the night. He would be doing it as a favor to his allies, to show he trusts them, or maybe he could do it while talking to bad guys as a way of appealing to their humanity.

Just think of all the times we've seen Spider-man pull off his mask in the movies. Those are times when Batman would show his eyes, were he in similar situations. Appealing to bad guys who aren't actually that bad, interacting with civilians/allies, maybe saving children.

i saw this weird batman and robin painting on reddit in which the batman had a black suit and a blue cowl, oddly enough, i thought it was pretty original for bats. kinda like batgirl.

I didn't like it then either.

The lenses I'm talking about would show his humanity when necessary (I.e. well lit close-ups) without having to be retracted. I wear my glasses all the time and people don't think I'm hiding behind them or whatever.

I LOVE those manips right above, but the second one proves to me that I really have no interest in seeing the lenses or white eyes in live action, unless it's when he's fully cloaked within the shadows.

I'd like to see it used in a "Detective mode" augmented reality for a crime solving scene. And when he's in the dark, like you said, to give some life to his silhouette.

The only "detective mode" Batman has should be IN HIS BRAIN. Detective mode is a videogame mechanic, not anything that should be in a movie.

Hence the inverted apostrophes. It was an analogy (one that you then used incorrectly) to the augmented reality bit you seem to have missed.

Yikes. The new suit from Arkham Knight looks like it belongs in Mass Effect.

The game itself seems cool (YOU CAN FINALLY DRIVE THE BATMOBILE YES) but yeah, the suit's definitely a step down from Arkham Asylum/City or even Origins.

The detachable cape looks interesting though.

Yeah, a bit too techie. It is cool looking for what it is, but I was hoping they'd dial back the Batsuit for once. I know there are different skins for the other Arkham games, but as the main suit. I agree though - the trailer looks amazingly beautiful! Graphics are getting better and better...can't wait to see where they are in 5 or 10 years!

It might be a special suit in-universe, though. From the looks of it he'll be handling open combat and mass chaos across Gotham this time, as opposed to the more sensitive, clandestine missions in the previous games.

That being said, I frigging hate that cowl. Arkham Origins was as complicated as I would go for cowls.

I knew what you meant, I just don't think he needs that at all.

It's a very nice design. Loved the fighting sequences.

The AK Batmobile looks a bit like what I've kind of been imagining Affleck might have, based on a rumour somewhere that it was something between the Tumbler and a normal car.

The suit is fine as far as techie batsuits go - fine for a 3rd game in the series. Origins is the game that really should have had a back to basics, toned down suit.

I don't get why both the games and the movies have to upgrade the suit to a puzzle-piece look instead of keeping it simple. The new Arkham suit looks bad to me.
