I like the cover even more than the EW cover, I f'n love the suit!! I also prefer long bat ears on Batman but this is still damn nice.

It would be so boss if they added long bat ears for the solo series. After all, if Supes can have an unexplained costume upgrade in between films, why not Batman?

Idk if supermans suit is really considered much of an upgrade, its like very tiny detail changes. Kinda like sam raimis spiderman costumes from the first and second movie.
I personally dont have to see the long ears or yellow logo, but i wouldnt mind a nod to it on an old suit in the batcave.

I tried :/

did they takevthe banned batsuit picture and stretched or enhanced the musclevsize in photoshop to make him look bigger in the empire cover? cause he cant really be that big can he?

I like the aesthetics of the suit but I simply hate the proportions they attached to it. There's nothing heroic about Batman's shape, he's built like a neckless goon.

I mean compare him to how Superman looks right next to him.

Usually Superman is built somewhat bigger than Batman and at most both guys have the same built but it looks silly to have Batman looking like the mini hulk. Hell I think the MCU Hulk has a more tapered physique than Batman.

I love the yellow symbol but I would definitely prefer it on an extra suit or something in the batcave as a nod.

I hope JL or the solo Batfleck film has pretty much the same suit including the exact same color scheme but has long ears, bat symbol similar from Hush(my avy)and suit a bit sleeker/thinner

Here is the original image, EM removed the neck because of "reasons"

Not doubting you, fellow Knight of the Soundtable, but how did you come to learn that this is, in fact, the original?

His face looks really wide for some reason

I love Supe's look. He looks so confident and strong.Loving the batsuit too.

Lindy Hemming wanted to give the cape an "animalistic" quality if I recall correctly. She thought a velvet texture would be reminiscent of a bat's wing or fur or something. I know, it makes no sense because bat's wings are skin and look leathery, but obviously the woman obviously never saw a real bat up-close or something.

I just watched the featurette on the making of the Begins costume last night and she doesn't say anything like that. She says the wanted it light so it woulc catch the wind. And the flocked texture was so that it reflected less light.

This cover used the same Batfleck headshot as the one we saw against a white background that popped up here awhile back. The same one used for the IMAX trailer event posters.

Nope, it's not the same shot - similar pose but the lighting's completely different.

It's not the same (see below); and, yes, the lighting is partially to blame for the way he looks on the Empire cover.

There was this actual real-world fabric they found that the military/aeronautics industry was using. It had a special kind of electrostatic flocking, and then they found out about memory cloth, which is sort of a real thing, and from that they developed the idea.

At least that's what Nolan and Goyer said early on.

No, the flocking was just a thing they did because they wanted to. Purely arbitrary cosmetic choice - that had nothing to do with the reality of the fabric or its fictional memory function. The fabric itself was just a light nylon (parachute material).

If they hadn't done anything to the fabric at all, it probably would have looked awful, so they had to do something. I guess the other option would have been to give it a very light spray of rubberized black paint, if they HAD wanted to keep a leathery/rubbery look. But it wouldn't have looked as black.

It's also a lot lower res and compressed, which can sometimes distort things a bit. If we get a high res version of this, both characters will probably look better.

The white highlights on either side of his head is what's making it look a lot wider, I think. Basic design/colour theory (or whatever you want to call it).

Fortunately, although Richard Cetrone (aka Stuntfleck aka Tor-An in MoS) appears to have a slightly longer neck than Affleck, their craniofacial features are nearly the same. As such, I'm hoping that what has been recently shown of Cetrone in the SS set pics and parts of the recent BvS trailer is very close to what we'll be seeing of Affleck himself in the cowl. Fingers crossed.

If that's, indeed, the "original", why would EW also make Cavill's right eye look wall-eyed?
