Eyes are not the only means of conveying emotion. You've got the entire lower half of your face and body language left to work with.

Hugo Weaving and Jackie Earle Haley had their entire faces covered, yet I had no issue with reading any given emotion they were trying to evoke in 'V for Vendetta' and 'Watchmen, respectively. Any hindrances provided by practical limitations should be overcome by a good actor.

Exactamundo.

And as a stoic character, Batman is not supposed to be very expressive anyway. Also cowl opening that leaves lower face exposed would be enough for all emotions he'd need to convey when under the cowl.

I guess this is the new "grey suit" argument. Until they actually see it, people will continue to claim that it wouldn't work in live action.

Not to be argumentative, but I believe that the "Mech" suit was indeed built in full.. And will be used for some fight scenes.
Including the glowing white eyes.
All real.. All built by Ironhead Studios along with the normal "Bat-suit".

No doubt, CGI versions of suits will see screen time by WETA Digital?
But it won't be all CGI..

"Do you bleed?" That was Ben.. In the "Mech" suit..

It was built in full for sure, we saw it in SDCC, and it could be that we'll see that same suit on stand in the film, but it will be completely CGI in the film when Affleck wears it. Affleck confirmed so in the "Total Film" interview, saying that he wore one of those motion-capture pajama-like suits.

Just to clarify, I've never said that it wouldn't work, only that I feel that you lose something in the performance and it creates a disconnect with the audience. Visually, it's totally feasible, I just don't find it to be necessary or ideal.

This is a bit different, as we've already seen lenses twice now in live action, and it looks odd.

I think the only way it would look good, is if the entire movie was shot like Sin City.

Got you. I've heard people say so though and I'm pretty sure they would change their minds if they'd see a good execution of that look. As with the grey suit.

As for disconnection with the audience, I do get where you're coming from with this, but I personally never had any problems connecting with characters like aforementioned Rorschach and V and I doubt I'd have that problem with Batman that has white lenses.

I retain that it looks odd, because both of them are quite big and closer to the shape of a bug than a snake-slit look. I think that if they were executed well, they wouldn't look odd at all, but would simply give Batman more demonic and bestial look. It would most probably have to be CGI though.

Anyway, we wouldn't know for sure unless they try to go for it the way they were described above.

Well, you lens-fans are getting them in the mech-suit, so there's that.

Not the way I'd like them. But, yeah, it's most probably the only way we're gonna get them, so I guess it's something...

I dislike the mech-suit, though. :hehe:

I actually like it. I wasn't looking forward to it when we heard about it, but like most things Snyder is involved with, it looks amazing.

To be more precise, I dislike the concept of Batman in armored suits of this kind, I don't have the problem with the design of it all that much.

Though, I still think that as far as enhanced and armored batsuits go, "Kingdom Come" one makes more sense and looks a bit better.

Anyway, my two cents...

:woot: wow! I found this pic in the patokali facebook, I think is official, the batsuit looks great!

some manips by Manofplastic.

i think this would have been amazing on screen.

Wow. Simply Wow. It's mindblowing how this small change transforms it from looking like an actor in a suit to looking like the real Batman.

No matter how impeccable the Batsuit is, the white lenses just take it to another level entirely. It's the final step to bringing Batman to life.

Forget DC vs. Marvel, the white eyes wars are the real deal. I would love to see them in BvS or following movies, but the suit is nevertheless perfect as it is.

If there's going to be a war it will be about the rights for OMAC theory.

Seriously though, I don't think this is anything worthy of heated argument.

Some people don't like the look - I am completely fine with that. Some people think it is too limiting to actor's performance or is detaching the audience - I understand where they're coming from, but I don't find that to be much of a problem. And some people think it wouldn't work in live action as it would look silly - I disagree and am pretty sure that if they were to see a good execution of the look, most of them would change their minds.

In third case, I just like to point out the fact that we never really got a good execution of white lenses in the regular cowl so that it shouldn't be dismissed so easily. I might be wrong and narrow, angular snake-slit look might indeed end up looking bad, but we can't know for sure until we get to see it, that's all I'm saying.

I don't much care either way... lenses or no lenses, whatever. I just find the hyperbole in this thread amusing.

No war here. :D We might have different views on certain little things, but at the end of the day we all love the white eyes and want to see them in a movie. If done right, of course. And with Snyder and Wilkinson, how can it go wrong ?

One does feel like he's going round and round... we discuss same things over again. Still, this is better than MOS or Cavill's hairline.
