There's a big difference from what works in the comics/games and what works in film.

is that batdad??

"drink up....so you can...wet...the bed"

I want underwear.

It's very superhero-y. Could be cool if done right, in my honest opinion.

I agree, but I think that ship has all but sailed at this point.

I'd love it if somewhere down the line someone had the stones to make an all-out retro adaptation of these characters, complete with 100% faithful costumes. The things I would do to see a DC movie that looked anything like the artwork in Kingdom Come are unspeakable.

Given the reaction of Kevin Smith (the director from Jersey, not the Hype's number one Flash fan) has it occurred to anyone that, maybe, just maybe that Snyder and Co. have found a way to do the white eyes on the cowl? Anyone?

Hmm I doubt it and to be honest. I don't want it. Sure it looks awesome in the comics/animated films but that doesn't mean it would work in live action..however, I do want to somehow see a take on the detective mode from the arkham games.

White eyes and blue/black and gray costume. I believe those two things would probably get Kevin Smith to react the way he did.

Who's the old fatty in the tights? :oldrazz:

yeah that alex ross picture is proof that any classic comic costume can work in live action

Ok, sorry for all the Batman pose porn (last one...for now), but this one I can see with Ben's Batman. A simple pose, but great nonetheless.

If Affleck looks something like this in the first teaser, a round of drinks for everyone!

Statements of this nature are often made, but never substantiated.
This!
1000x this.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time now before he posts a picture of some horrible cosplay and claims it's an example of something wouldn't work in live action.

It would be cool. I guess they made it work for the Spidey films.

However if you watch the animated series the big reason the white eye slits work so well is they can show expression by widening or tightening, which can't be done in live-action.

Also too since all the previous live-action Batmen have shown that it's not necessary that is probably the way they'll go again. Because a big thing with performance art is showing that expression, and the eyes are the most important part of the face for that. They changed Bane's mask for this reason, so Tom Hardy could properly project himself in every scene.

Notice too how often Spidey takes off his mask or has it torn up in his movies. That's the main reason why.

That's the thing though..
Spiderman's eye's are part of his mask.
It's never been debated that they were anything other than that.
You can just throw lenses on a mask and it will look right because that's what they're supposed to be.

What you're seeing on batman are his actual eyes.

His reaction makes think they have the white eyes, yellow oval, gray and blue, and trunks.

But thats probably overkill.

Well this isnt entirely true. I know what most of us may think of the Green Lantern movie, but they did try to do some cool stuff with the CGI mask. If done well, they cpuld do a good version for around batmans eyes and brows.

I think the white eyes can and should be done...
Just show that the cowl has clear lenses over it..under normal lighting you can see his eyes..under dark lighting the lenses catch light or just reflect a little of the ambient light creates the white lenses effect..thus you get the dramatic batman looks people crave so much.

Ugh. A million no's to any CGI to the Batman mask. GL's mask in that movie did not look good at all.

The only way the white eyes will ever work on the cowl is if they find a way to have the cowl eyebrows move. White eye's work in the comics because you can still see emotion in the way the cowl moves. I think someone posted a video earlier of the Goblin mask where the eyes move. That would be the best thing possible if they want to use white eyes.

Or just use CGI to make his regular eyes glow. Scott Snyder has him using contacts to achieve that effect in the comics right now, and regardless of whether they uses prosthetics for his forehead or eyebrows, Bale and Keaton clearly demonstrated that the eyes can still emote quite a lot. Just make them glow and have his eyelids be able to squint, blink, widen, and of course narrow around his pupil.

I mainly want it because I saw some Justice League pictures where it really was just his eyes glowing, not some part of his mask, and it really would drive home the "creature of the night look." So if someone's about to start posting some of those pictures of Batman's cowl to show " why it wouldn't work", I'd request someone else to take a picture of Keaton or Bale doing an aggressive look and just making his eyes glow, not opaque, glow.

God, I love the Batman Inc. design when drawn well. Rocksteady butchered it in AC. I feel like it is the perfect update of the Neal Adams.I feel like the materials and styling are far superior to the New 52 mess (other than the Inc. codpiece which I freely admit is a bit over the top)
