BvS The Batsuit Thread - Part 9

Always been a fan of the darker sorta desaturated blue for bats, I do prefer grey and black, but blue can look pretty sweet.

I've heard people say similar things before, and I always wondered why anyone would actually want that. Most of the problems they had with the rubber suits would still exist; there would just be a fabric layer over the "ugly" stuff.

Also: that manip looks pretty good, but I would darken the blue a tad.

Well I didn't have a problem with the fact that he wore armour if that's what you are asking? I just didn't like that you could see all of the armour's bits n pieces. (especially the legs) It would've simplified the look and that's all I was asking for.

Sorry, I was just thinking out loud. I quoted your post because it reminded me of other posts I've seen in the past and was sort of relevant to what I was saying. I wasn't calling you out or anything. :woot:

haha yeah I figured that. Actually, before I wrote back to you I was thinking how I could word it without sounding like a dicksplash.

I hope that manip is clost to the costume we get. I am tired of a batman who is weighed down so much by the armor. The fight choreograpy is often limited by the weight and limitations of the suit and I don't want that.

In fact, this image have made me re-think the possibility of the colour blue being included. I just assumed that black and grey was the ultimate.

But this...is...

I live in NYC and since joining this thread months and months ago, I keep looking out at the night sky and thinking about how much midnight blue there is, and how the various black things I see stick out. But then I see attempts to put that into outfit form and I'm reminded that it is really tricky to make it work.

I agree with you that this pic makes the case for midnight blue REALLY well. I think, done right, it would genuinely be better for nighttime stealth than black. And what a way to make a statement of separation from the previous films, right?

Also, I think the eyes make it. I'm seriously seriously dying for the white eyes, and no more black eye shadow nonsense.

I've read that blue is actually better for concealing a person in the dark than black. I think it has to do with light and how our eyes work in the dark. Considering this is a Snyder film he isn't going to shy away from a comic book look. As long as it looks good I'm cool with whatever we get.

i couldn't tell this is the batsuit thread anymore lol.

This pic is pretty cool, i think it shows how drastically different (infinitely superior) it looks with a simple fabric/mesh layer on top of the armor.

Yea, I think that blue looks awesome when under the appropriate lighting.

I prefer the black and gray combo, but I would be down for that.

the tdk suit looked like it had a blueish shine. especially in tdkr in the sewer fight with bane. blue would be a game changer. as would a more form fitting suit similar to superman's.

Short of being on the costume production team, I can almost say with 100% certainly that we're not getting blue and gray.

Black and gray(maybe a very dark gray)? Probably. Blue and gray? No way in hell.

Oh dear. And I was looking forward to it. You hear that, everybody? This guy says there is no chance of a blue and grey suit. I'm only grateful that he stepped in there to stop us setting our hopes too high. :(

my brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate, who is working on the production team, says it's multi-colored. and will be a game changer.

where's roach with the kevin smith quote when you need him????

Blue can be done on Batman if it's done correctly. The Arkham games used a blue hue in their cape/cowl and it worked. The DCAU (and various other animated productions) used blue as the highlight color, indicating that the cape/cowl were "really" an incredibly dark blue that only looked black most of the time. Even Nolan's cowl has quite a bit of blue in it when the light hits it right.

Just don't expect something straight out of the silver age. Even the blue Jim Lee famously used in the 90s for Hush almost definitely won't be happening. But if it's subtle, it could happen.

Nope, the cowl is just dark grey (either in BB or TDK/TDKR). The blue shade is only due to the colour of the lighting during some scenes (the material is just reflecting it).

“I saw the costume, more than that I saw him [Ben Affleck] in the costume…I don’t want to give anything away cause that is up to them and stuff, but I am going to say this…I instantly bear hugged him. You have not seen this costume in film before. Because every other movie has done this matrixy black armor thing…There wasn’t a single nipple on this [frick]ing suit man. I think everyone is gonna be like ‘Holy *****!’ We haven’t been down this path before. Even the Hardest core “[frick] this movie” person will be like ‘alright, I’m ready!”

I do love this image, but made just a few little tweaks that I thought were needed. I shortened the ears by 25%, cleaned up the eyes a bit, darkened the blue a bit, darkened the grey, and thinned up the neck just a bit also. I don't mind the utility belt shown too much, but would love if they did a totally different look (old school pouches maybe?). Overall a pretty fun picture! I'd be okay with a dark blue and grey suit.

Personally, I preferred the blue and grey original.

I love me some blue and grey.
