You know a debate on here has reached the limits of ridiculousness when Eddie stops ****posting, gets serious, and drops a bomb of wisdom.
I like that quote. It's reflective to Grant's approach to storytelling.
However, I also like these quotes, reflective of Matt's approach:

And seeing how we were talking about Matt's Batman, not Grant's, I don't really understand how that Grant quote was particularly useful to that discussion.

That’s exactly what I think is happening. They’ve bleached the brows so that’s their base look, and then they darken them with temp-makeup when he’s Supes because that’s easier than constantly lightening them.
David's Ultraman and the first official pic is Ultraman. I'm rolling with that for sure lol

Look I love Morrison as much as the next guy...but lets not pretend he is some amazing guru the guy is completely nutso half the time depending on how often he microdoses :o People overuse his quotes almost as much as they overuse Alan Moore quotes...though Morrison is way saner than Moore is ;)
Friendly reminder that Morrison is nonbinary! Morrison and Moore are the most talented writers comics have ever produced. No one is perfect but Moore is to comics writing what Hendrix is to the guitar and Morrison is by some distance the best thing to ever happen to the DC universe. There are very, very few Grant Morrison takes that aren't 100% on the money.

I usually think that you have good opinions, but I completely disagree. I’m not a fan of Morrison at all. Their writing is always very confusing.

Besides, the two most talented comics writers of all time are Moore and Kirby, with Waid coming in third.

Non binary eh...noted thank you :)

Moore as Hendrix I can't agree with. Hendrix died long before he could become a bitter prick. Morrisons greatness I can applaud though.

The best...nah but we all have our faves so it's all good :)

Why would the clone be wearing Superman’s suit when it already has it’s *own* suit?
I would assume to impersonate him. If he spends his time usually walking around in a masked suit and that's not just for that scene to make filming easier, then good thing that guy who hates Superman has a Superman clone no one knows about who can go cause problems.

The clown is working for the US government, is seemingly a member of Stormwatch, and is highkey advertising that it’s a clone (with it’s Superman-inspired suit) to the public.

How the heck would no one know about it?it doesn’t seem to be a secret at all

Grant Morrison is a creative genius. Creative geniuses often flirt with a little esotericism and eccentricity. Do I always know what the f*** they’re talking about? No, but their creative insight and handle on the characters and storytelling is so strong that when I don’t, I can roll with it. :funny:

Hmmm... it's almost like he has a mask that guards his face while doing these government missions that would prevent the average person from knowing that he's a clone. Considering it's a pretty common trope for the bad guy to be a highly classified unidentified assailant in secret government agencies, I imagine that will be applicable here as well.

This is very true!

Idk that just seems a little convoluted. And again, the dude’s “Ultraman” suit is very clearly obviously inspired by Superman’s, so it’s not exactly a secret to the people he’s working with

I think more likely, the clone is created in collaboration with the military as a Superman deterrent

In a world full of superheroes, why would anyone see one working for the government wearing just a generic looking one in all black, no cape, a completely different symbol, and I think to themselves "yeah underneath that mask is a clone of Superman"? What a crazy conclusion to jump to that would be.

Not really sure how being a deterrent prevents the clone from also being used to damage Superman's reputation. It's Lex. The clone is going to have multiple usages.

We don't know the script. Perhaps after they arrest Superman, we get a new one? Perhaps he's out doing crime, to make Superman look bad? It's still very early. But if you have a Superman clone, it's most likely they have their own suit. Or even take an old one.

My theory is that this is an amalgamation of Ulysses and Ultraman and maybe not a clone (despite rumors). I also theorize that Flula Borg is playing him as he'd been spotted working out with the cast, Flula is also a pretty tall and muscular dude.

Even though the "U" on his chest does resemble the ultraman logo, the overall costume looks more like Ulysses. And given the new 52 influence on the costume, I wouldn't put it past Gunn to adapt him.

Also, if we think about what this movie was formerly called "legacy" and look at Ulysses' origin, it's a parallel to Superman's. Now, Gunn may not completely adapt Ulysses or Ultraman, but I think the idea of them being one character should at least be considered. Didn't Gunn post a Pic of him reading new 52 Superman a while back?
