What if they showed Superman help build the wall to help with border security? Build a big strong beautiful wall... or a fence.. or whatever you want to call it...

Jokes aside, I agree Vaibow, it would be great to see more rescue scenes or helping out the general public and looking out for the every day citizen.

I feel a lot of the marvel heroes are on like a crusade, spiderman being the only one that is looking out for the every day citizen and that's the aspect i really hoped DCEU would tap in to, where their heroes, Superman a huge one in particular are for people like you and i.

Superman swoops down and rescues a cat, kid from a fire, stops a bank heist or a derailed train... what he does, his feats are what we wish we could do, if had powers. We look at real life events as kids in particular and think 'if only i could (insert supermans specific power). Batman too, has this element, Nolan tapped into it with the kid being awe struck and for batman to crack down on crime.

So when they glossed over it and either showed us the afterwards, or a reporter explaining it or just one iconic shot, you lose that emotion - think of Superman the movie, him saving lois and then catching the helicopter - that's like clark doing the shirt rip - it cutting to lex in his lair, he's chatting to ottis and then we see a news report where its a small grainy image of the helicopter being carried up. We would have never known that awesomeness.

More Aquaman knocking the big ass bell moment?

Ben did save the little girl at the start of Bvs then Wally but people focus on his meltdown against “weeds” more

Sup saved the falling soldier then the entire planet via beating the world engine, and helped the bombed survivors but got cut.

People want those last minute saves sequences but I hope they keep the AM types and not overdoing it to the extent where you have Scarlet Witch directing traffic in Ultron, that’s Hawkeye’s job

I think they over corrected the lack of smile in JL with the creepy CGI lips tho lol

I can understand why in a packed film like BVS, you wouldn't want to spend time cutting away from the main story to show random rescues. That given how much had to be cut for the theatrical version that'd it'd be tempting to say "we don't have time to show day to day Superman saving people"

And yet they still did:

This moment from the ultimate cut was great too.

You lost me... Bruce Wayne cradling a kid, CGI man catching a soldier, yeah it's good... but you know what i am on about... anyways, not seen AM so can't comment.

I think Vaibow is talking more about going out on a patrol, deliberately seeking people in need as opposed to happening to see someone in need and helping out.

Sort of like the difference between a fisherman who sees someone drowning and saves them, and the coast guard.

Yeah these were some good moments and this (watch till 1:21)

I just saw Bumblebee today (I know, I know, I’m late), and honestly? I think Travis Knight would be a solid choice.

If we got a Rebirth-flavored soft reboot down the road, I would ABSOLUTELY want Travis Knight directing it.

Well, as we know there was some news regarding a Man of Steel sequel this past fall. Mathew Vaughn would've been a good choice but they just don't want to commit to a take on the character yet it seems to me.

They even asked James Gunn who strangely dwelled on Krypto instead (perhaps leading WB to think an animated superpets movie a good idea) before settling on Suicide Squad...WB Offered James Gunn A Superman Movie Before Suicide Squad 2

Then out of nowhere comes a supergirl announcement and Henry Cavil opts to do a Netflix series. I don't think this spurs confidence but in a positive light maybe does show at least WB is willing to let things settle with other projects before moving forward on this again. Superman really got the shaft but I hope he'll rebound at some point.

His shoulders are ridiculous.

He is body goals tbh, i need to work out harder at the gym

I hope this means he and WB are ok with him as Superman, i need MoS2 with him pls

Dying to see a MOS sequel after JL. So much potential, but not sure what WB's plans are. I think they're trying things with Shazam, if it's successful the MOS sequel will be announced.

Trainer came out and said it was a donation/signing by Cavill to the Budapest gym he’s using for Witcher prep.

just to trim it.

I’m not sure what it says about the state of things other than Cavill is still somewhat fond of having been Superman. Nothing is ruled out regarding MOS 2, but it doesn’t seem like we can expect anything soon.

If that stuff about Gunn being offered Superman is true, then it probably means Superman’s fate is independent of any other DC film. At the same time, it also suggests that WB is open to whatever the next director decides to do, as with Reeves (who seems to have had the option of sticking with Ben Affleck or moving on). Time will tell, but there will likely be no news until a director chooses to do Superman.

IF Gunn is chosen by WB to direct the next Superman over Cavill staying on as Superman, they are bigger idiots than I ever considered (and they are f**king a-holes in my view, so they'd have really gone to the dogs as far I'm concerned) and they give Superman to Gunn and dump Cavill, they truly have lost the plot.

Well, I doubt Gunn would do Superman. But it’s a simple calculation. Cavill is an actor. He’s not going to be directing a Superman film or bringing together all the larger elements that would result in a finished product. So, ultimately yes, he is, sadly, expendable when you get right down to it.

Again, I think what’s happened with Batman is informative. Once Ben Affleck left the director’s chair, it was never guaranteed that he would stay with the film. And once Reeves came it, it was all but settled that Ben wouldn’t be returning (given Reeves’s likelihood to want to fully tell his own story).

Superman’s in the same, if not a bigger, boat. WB knows that Superman remains a highly popular and demanded IP, but Cavill’s three films (remember that) didn’t bring in what they could have. So to them, yes, he’s now a good bit optional piece of the Superman franchise going forward. And given their “director-driven” approach, a good director trumps an actor who looks the part any day of the week.

Now, that doesn’t mean WB is firing Cavill. No, it just means they want a director with a pitch. That’s the goal. Actor/producer doesn’t cut it and won’t get them what they want. And I don’t think they are necessarily wrong given the way the DCEU is going. All we can hope for is for someone to come in and, like James Wan, be fully okay with the current actor.

Given WB's past history, my guess is that WB doesn't want Cavill back and isn't looking to making another Superman film...yet. While its pretty clear Cavill would like to return , at this point, i'm pretty skeptical WB wants him to return ,and really wants to make another Superman film at this point.

The reality is , that one of the reasons WB wanted Batfleck in a MOS Sequel was because they didn't have faith, in some ways with Cavill's Superman post MOS's box office and reception. BvS and JL reaffirmed those beliefs ,even though it was their meddling and rushing into a cinematic universe which lead to those films being trainwrecks.

Cavill's position is perfectly understandable from my POV , but the problem is, he doesn't have the clout that Chris Reeve had when he wanted similar conditions for Superman 4. Fair or not, his Superman hasn't been embraced by the GA, and its been polarizing at best among fanboys.

With WW, Aquaman, Shazam, The Batman , Joker , BOP etc in production or on the screen WB likely doesn't really feel the need to make a deal with Cavill or produce another Superman film right now.

I agree that if a hot director came in with a pitch the dug, they would go all in, but even then, if they get a director like that, they'll likely be more like Matt Reeves and want to do "there own thing" as opposed to trying to salvage Cavill's version and all the baggage attached to it. I

n other words, the next Superman film is likely gonna be a reboot anyway.
