The Daily Planet - Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Interesting you should say this. Before I read WOT, I was going by a general synopsis that folks here were kind enough to provide. And from this, I assumed it was a kind of origin story. I.e., in some fashion Kara went from Krypton/Argo to this adventure — then afterwards made her way to Earth, met her cousin and became “Supergirl.” But in the book, it becomes obvious (via the costume, Krypto and direct exposition) that Kara’s Earthly backstory has already taken place.

I suppose, as per your suggestion (and my initial misunderstanding), the narrative could be reframed as a Kara origin. Admittedly, WOT’s plot details are not fresh in my mind. So I’m not sure whether such a reframing would amount to minor tweaks or a major rewrite.

I read it again a few months ago so pretty fresh. They'd have to tweak a few things. Off the top of my head:

- in the book, she's well known as Supergirl by basically everyone they encounter.
- in the book there are references to experiences with Clark (I.e. Green K stuff)
- she's aware of being de-powered in some parts of the Galaxy away from yellow sun.

Can't think of anything else off hand. But it seems doable.

Hmmm I noticed around 1:01 when they are talking about dressing David for press/events etc, there's a pause before saying there will be stuff in winter/Dec where he says 'I'm not sure if it's okay to say...'

So I guess we are likely to get something in December!

I missed that before. Good catch!

Honestly kinda seemed to me like he was just going along with his friend’s speculation but

Creature Commandos premieres the same day as CCXP starts, it would be cool if Gunn showed the characters that are crossing over from that show like Flag Sr. Or (potentially) Dr. Phosphorus, in the context of how they appear in the film.

I still have doubts about the trailer in December, but I do think they’ll do something at CCXP. Maybe a surprise cast appearance and a poster unveiling or something small like that, but I don’t think they’ll just sit that one out. CCXP is bigger than SDCC now and WB in particular loves to do promotion there.

Hey I'm still delusional enough to have a smidgeon of hope we get something out of NYCC 😅

Remember when 3 was the worst Home Alone... And then Disney one-upped it? :o
Oh yeah, I forgot this kid was from the Home Alone franchise. I really never paid much attention to it because I was bummed that they recast Culkin.

I 100% think if it was up to Gunn & Safran then The Batman would be retroactively made DCU canon, but alas, I believe in Gunn when he says that it will remain its own thing, and it’s definitely Matt Reeves who has no interest in joining, for better or worse.

Jesus...you have to be kidding me.

Well considering Jeff Sneider is probably cell mates with Arthur Fleck at Arkham Asylum these days, perhaps he may have a nugget or two correct

But I doubt all of what he’s saying is true

Goodness I hope there is truth to this. I will save the argument for the Batman/DCU threads.

We've seen this exact conversation happen on whether Christian Bale would be the DCEU Batman in BvS.
