I'm still not used to how bulky the material is. Despite the varying design choices of past suits, they were all form fitting in their own way. And obviously, the comics treat the suit like it was body paint. It looks fine in the trailer, which is what matters, but the images that are being used for merchandizing aren't very flattering.

I've gotten used to the design of the suit at this point , but my bias is still in favor of a suit more akin to Reeves's was ,in terms of aesthetic.

But that's the first Superman I saw and embraced , so , that's always going to paint my perception of what I prefer, in a Superman suit.

I'll make an exception though for the Junkyard suit he wore in Superman 3. That's not my favorite suit  .

I honestly think it's the trunks mixed in with the materials that give off the illusion of a bloated waistline since the suit is so thick. The midsection looks more wide since there's not much definition. David is a pretty big dude as well and put on major size in such a short period of time. He isn't as trim naturally as the other Superman actors were. All bulk.

Yeah, most of these promo shots don't look particularly good to me, I think David looks much better in the actual film. Ultimately, I have to accept that I'm not a fan of the suit, which sucks because I like the majority of everything else I see.

I suppose what it will ultimately come down to is whether the general audience/mainstream will find the 2025 Superman look as goofy or cool.

I think the Cavill suits were an easier sell with the mainstream. They were basically like armor, with the raised shield, textured material and very visible muscle definition. Supes looked like a badass warrior.

The 2025 look is harder sell to the uninitiated.

My main nitpick with the suit is still the collar. My hope is that they go back to the open collar look in the sequels if we get those.

David's neck is too long for an open collar. No matter what suit we get in the future, I'm quite convinced it will have a collar.
That's what you get for choosing a Col de Crayon.

I think the high collar was nothing more than a design choice by Gunn to be different. I doubt it had anything to do with David's neck.

People said the same thing about Routh when trying to explain why the SR suit didn't have the traditional open neck.

The Kingdom Come suit put that theory to rest. At the end of the day I think we just need to accept these are director's preferences.

Yeah, I think the collar is just Gunn's preference. I don't find Corenwets neck to be any longer than Reeve's or Routh's.

I'm curious as to how Supergirl's suit is going to look and whether that has a collar and similar materials.

I don't think most people care about the overall on of the suit or the collar it's whether he looks good doing Superman stuff. Half the time in promotional stuff Batman looks stupid but no one cares when he is beating up thugs.

Routh's build is not David's. David's is more like Chris Hemsworth's, and if you look at each Thor costume, every time they were clearly working around the long neck - first with long hair/high shoulder pad combo, then when Thor got short hair, a collar. It's not a problem, it's just a matter of looking better with a collar, so I suspect they'll opt for that every suit. But we'll just have to see, I guess. Personally, I've never liked the collar in comics, but I think it looks good on this suit. 🤷‍♀️

I feel the same way.

I don't like the collar in the comics either , but I think it works fine with David's suit .

You can offset the "pencil neck" look by getting bigger traps. Increased body fat % will usually increase neck circumference as well. Regardless of neck size (lmfao) I think this Superman would've looked great with the more traditional open collar. But whatever, it is what it is.

Seems like folks are getting lots of clicks with this test screening stuff. Nothing burger imo.

I feel like these images emphasis FC's point.

This film has already been a huge gift, to me. Regardless of its quality - I became a huge Superman fan because of its existence.

I've marathon'd a lot of shows, with more still to go. I've read a lot of the history of the character. Revisited some old animated favourites. But most importantly - I've read a ton of amazing Superman stories. Two of which have become some of my favourite stories in comics.

I'm super ready for this film, no pun intended.

Superman needs a win and his fans deserve a win.
