The Daily Planet - Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

This film has already been a huge gift, to me. Regardless of its quality - I became a huge Superman fan because of its existence.

I've marathon'd a lot of shows, with more still to go. I've read a lot of the history of the character. Revisited some old animated favourites. But most importantly - I've read a ton of amazing Superman stories. Two of which have become some of my favourite stories in comics.

I'm super ready for this film, no pun intended.

Superman needs a win and his fans deserve a win.

What's been your favorite Superman story you've read so far? I'm actually enjoying a lot of the current stuff Joshua Williamson has been writing.

Has the whole story for the movie been leaked, or are youtubers click baiting/making stuff up? That Aaron Fischer (sp) seems to think he knows the whole story. I've been trying to avoid any major spoilers.

I really think it has to be For All Seasons. It was the first one I read and I fell in love with the character then and there. It has this small bonus story too, about Clark in high school dealing with the loss of a friend, that left me with tears in my eyes.

What a loss, having Tim Sale pass away.

Will definitely look into the Williamson stuff you've mentioned.

My rule of thumb - never trust 'YouTubers'.

I went through this with the last Indiana Jones film; constant videos of 'leaks' and 'full story!' that only aimed to be rage-bait to incite a certain group of online angry nerds. And none of it turned out to be true.

I'll trust my eyes once I'm in the theater.

There has been what is being called a "leak" from one of the test screenings of the plot of the film. No consensus on whether it's real.

They should've just done what Marvel does. Cgi the suit to fit better and photoshop the images. The falcon suit is very similar to this before it was cleaned up bts

I've read it. I feel there are lots of reasons to be very skeptical of it. There's a tone to it that screams 'a snyderbro wrote this. I.e. the person says he thinks something is 'a metaphor for Gunns old tweets coming out'.

I read them as well. I got the sense it's someone who liked Gunn's usual stuff and got turned off by the more Superman/non-GotG style stuff. Which is why they didn't strike me as a Snyder bro but like far too many filmgoers who turn off very quickly by anything they don't 100% vibe with.

Idk, there's a big contingent of Snyderbros who enjoyed Gunn/the GotG movies UNTIL he was announced as the head of DC and now claim their issue is him bringing the goofy tone to Supes. The more ~opinionated~ description kinda sounds to me like someone guessing what they think the audience will like the sound of (aka "good" GotG moments) and acting like the rest is awful.

I dunno, there's a couple of versions out there, and most have had the original wording re written to remove the more snyderbros vibe imo. Is the one you read where he whines that a particular scene went on for ten minutes?

I'm curious to know which description came to light first. Because it could be that one particular snyderbro-sounding take just took the original description and, ya know, ~editorialized~.

Dang, plot leaks are happening?! It's time to be vigilant about what I read. I'm trying to go in the film pretty fresh outside anything officially put out there.

That is such a waste of money and rarely if ever produces good results.
It produced good results for Marvel. Even deadpool is slightly cgi.

Deadpool being "slightly" CGI is very different then what you're talking about. Marvel's reliance on fixing everything in post caught up to them and has resulted in some truly awful costume moments and ballooning budgets.

What am i talking about? Because my example is exactly the little cgi touches they should do instead of cgi EVERYTHING. what moments have been awful?

This Super suit needs a touch of two

We're talking about the slight cgi to make it better. That NECK..lets not deny. Upgrade
Design-wise, I'd say that it's a bad choice all around. It's better for it to be flush, yes, and the CG is unnoticeable. However, I don't think that example fits well with Superman's own costume and I fail to see any way it'd benefit from that particular sort of choice or what about it would be unsuited for just fitting it differently. The example used there is a case where it seems like they made a conscious decision to redo sections of it in post from the outset. With Superman, his costume seems to fit how they want it to. Has a bit of a slightly baggy, "guy putting on his suit for work" feel.
