And BvS was the best thing since sliced bread.

Do you think we might actually get a brief Jor-El/Lara opener to start the movie, then credits, then jump straight into Superman fighting a kaiju or something?

I'm thinking ala Star Trek 2009, with Chris Hemsworth as Kirks dad. Or even GOTG with the kid Peter losing mum intro.

I know Gunn has repeatedly said its not an origin story, but I think a quick intro like that doesn't really make it an origin story. It just slightly contextualises it. It's not going to be a huge deal, not a multi scene plot driven Kryptonian lore section. Just a heart wrenching goodbye as the world dies around them.

I would be down with something like that.

I honestly thought we were going to get something akin to Spider-Man 2 (Raimi) opening credits for Superman's origin. I am not sure if it will open the film up or not. Yes, I would be okay with something akin to Star Trek 09 opening sequence, for sure!

I have no idea, but it would be cool to have the opening be like pages of a comic turning, only in live action, with the theme playing.

No dialogue, just quick scenes of jor-el and lara, krypton, jor-el before the council, the rocket blasting off with krypton exploding in the background, Earth, little clark, metropolis, superman fighting a familiar villain, Lois, lex in lexcorp ( or luthercorp ) etc.
It Wouldn't take 5 mins to explain all we need to know.

Sounds a little bit like what The Incredible Hulk did back in 2008. Very Doable.

I think this is exactly the way Superman starts off. Jor-EL and Lara's role are reportedly considered brief and cameo-esq with maybe Jor-EL having a brief sequence in a S78-like Fortress scene later in the film. It seems like For All Seasons is the book Gunn took most inspiration from. I can see the beginning being an All-Star like flashes of images: Doomed planet; Desperate scientists; Last hope; Kindly couple.

All that should be done.

Ok I'm not going to bore you all with yet another post about how you shouldn't believe any really rumours about the movie's qualities but I will say this:
You all remember the early Green lantern screening reactions (were legit) that came out just before the movie's release? They made it sound like the movie was a gem only for everyone to watch the movie a few days later and realize the truth.
But why go back so far, just recently we heard how Cap4 and Snow-white were infact excellent thanks to LEGIT reactions by people who saw the movie a few days early...........but (sadly) the actual, final audience consensus was not as flattering; so to conclude: if we can't even take legitimate, early screening reactions seriously, how in the hell are we supposed to believe early test screening reactions that can't be varified?

I will leave you all with this:

WW84, Aquaman, THE suicide squad, Shazam and Harley Quinn/ Birds of Prey all got HUGE positive buzz from early test screening reactions, infact the latter 4 got the now obligatory "best DC movie since TDK" comment. Well I personally loved TSS (James Gunn) and Shazam but "best thing since TDK" is abit pushing it. I like Aquaman but "best thing since TDK" is Waaaaay pushing it and I really disliked Harley Quinn movie (love the series though) and "best thing since TDK" is just......well, insulting!
As for WW84 being (according to "early test-screening reports") excellent, well we all know how that turned out, I mean I don't know about the rest of you but that movie was one of the worst things to happen that year, the very same year that had a raging pandemic!

Didn't James Gunn say that he wouldn't include any flashbacks or scenes related to Superman's origin in this film?

I understand what you are saying.
But, I can’t start thinking “ the positive buzz is a LIE!”
Movies are always crapshoots,
Irregardless of any hype or, marketing,
Success is NEVER Guaranteed.

Will he wear the classic green suit? 🤔
I wouldn’t mind if he did.
Another possibility is the blue suit Jor El sometimes wore.
Especially since it has a red sun symbol at the center which is a complement to Superman’s red S,

Do we know who is playing Lara?

Okay, with rumours of the film making people cry at the end, I'm gonna expand my theory to:

Opener with jor-el & lara on krypton ala Star Trek 2009.
Links up with a birthright style ending.

Didn't James Gunn say that he wouldn't include any flashbacks or scenes related to Superman's origin in this film?
I don't think he said no flashbacks. I believe he said its not an origin story, and that there's no young Clark.

I'll check my notes later 😅

If I had to take a guess based on the trailer, something tells me Lex finds the fortress of solitude at the beginning of the film and that is the context that we see jor-el and Lara in.

I think it was said that most of the shots in the trailer are from the opening of the film. So if Lex breaks in we may see their holograms or however they choose to demonstrate it.
