Yes, and we'll see. Smallville was separate from Superman Returns and still ran long enough to see its own end (which is weird because both were loosely connected to the Donner Films, with SR being a vague sequel and Smallville using the theme and some likenesses).

This version of the Flash will most likely be in a different universe, just like his world is separate from Supergirl, but at the same time, with DC killing off Deadshot, Amanda Waller and not showing Deathstroke or Captain Boomerang again because of Suicide Squad, there's still the possibility that the show will either end or be completely different by the time the Flash film comes out.

Smallville's backstory/symbols/cave portal was re-orchestrated to homage the Donner Fortress of Solitude by the end of Season 4 and for the rest of the show's life, because Bryan Singer and Warner Bros. features were in production on Superman Returns, and essentially "persuaded" Gough and Millar, Smallville's creators and showrunners, to "adjust" their background narrative/visual aesthetic to better resemble the original Donner vision...and thus, parallel Singer's film.

DC Entertainment doesn't have that yay-or-nay say as you imply -- they have input, of course, but it's Warner Bros. features who are making the decisions on those things.

My theory/understanding of it is;

- On Earth-2, The Flash is Jay Garrick, and Zoom is Hunter Zoloman. They are identical twins separated at birth
- They fought a few times, and at the time the wormhole opened, what we were told was true. Zoom had pretty much won and was about to kill Jay.
- Jay's (now depleted of the speedforce) body was sucked through the wormhole, while Zoom ran the opposite way
- Zoom eventually came through the wormhole in his own time, once he'd worked out what it was
- Zoom came through and took Flash/Jay's body and he is keeping him hostage - Jay-2 is the man in the mask (hence a boiler suit, not his actual suit, as Zoom took it from him)
- Zoom then found his Earth-1 doppelgänger and convinced him to help him. By knowing his own identity (Zoloman-2) Zoom knows Zoloman-1 looks identical to him and Flash/Jay-2, and also that he has no speedforce in his system
- Zoloman-1 pretends to be Flash/Jay-2 every time we've seen him, and reports back to Zoom what's happening
- Zoom killed Zoloman-1 in episode 15, and realised he now had no way to get the inside knowledge on what the team were doing

I think that's what's happening..... But it means somewhere on Earth-1 is a twin Jay-1. Obviously he's not a speedster, and he may not even be a 'Jay', hence why Caitlin couldn't find him

Not sure if that's right or even close, though!

I just had an epiphany !!! ...

nº 1 - who is zoom !?

my theory : Jay and zoom are one and the same ... kinda

Jay grows up and becomes the flash;
finds out he is sick, travels back in time to try so solve the problem as a child;
accidentaly changes his whole life story;
now he grows up and become zoom.

conclusion : Jay and zoom are the same person, from different timelines

but why is zoom named "hunter zolomon" !?

simple : Jay has telling the truth about the hunter in the park (addopted by the zolomons)
maybe the same thing happened to Jay on earth-2 after his history has changed ...

jay mentioned that his helmet belonged to his father, who fought in the "war of the americas" ... and the prisioner WAS using war codes to communicate ...

BUT ... if its not someone we know, WHY is it really so surprising !?
because it IS someone we know ... HENRY ALLEN !!!

I have been making some research on the 1990 flash show by curiosity ... and I found out that in that show, nora is not the person who dies ... its barry's brother ... JAY allen

Hm. She certainly seems to be carrying herself like a villain, a la Killer Frost, but I guess I can't be sure of that. I'll just say that [BLACKOUT]I'm still hoping if it is Laurel in the grave, E2 Laurel will join the team, so it would certainly douse those hopes if she is a villain.[/BLACKOUT] But she could be an anti-hero or just a more arrogant/aggressive hero in E2. Like E2's version of what Huntress should've been.

BARRY IS READY TO FACE ZOOM; HUNTER ZOLOMAN’S STORY IS REVEALED – Equipped with the tachyon device, Barry (Grant Gustin) believes he is fast enough to stop Zoom (guest star Teddy Sears) and wants to open the breaches to catch him. Harry (Tom Cavanagh) strongly advises against that plan but after Barry convinces him, Harry reveals that Cisco (Carlos Valdes) has the power to re-open the breach. Meanwhile, Hunter Zoloman’s (Teddy Sears) painful story on Earth-2 is revealed. Stefan Pleszcynski directed the episode written by Joe Peracchio & David Kob (#218).
