I already said this in another thread, but since that was the positive thread and this might lead to some negative comments, I should probably move it to here.
Originally Kate said she didn't read any comic books and she didn't do so because Trank told her she shouldn't because this wasn't based on any comic books.
That was then 'clarified' by saying that it was a mistranslation and what she really meant was that it was taken from the whole canon rather than being on any one, but she didn't dispute that she had been told to not read the comics - but for that different reason.
Kinberg now seems to be further refining that by saying she was told she could select from all the comics because the story is based on all the comics.
So Kinberg is saying there were no restrictions on what she could read, but Kate is saying she didn't read any because she was told not to.
Which is it? Either Kate is being dishonest because she didn't do her homework and made up a reason. Or Kinberg is being dishonest because he's trying to 'spin'. I don't see how they can both be telling the truth.

I'm still hoping Silver Surfer and Galactus go back to Marvel/Disney before Phase 3. It's being wasted over at Fox. I don't care all that much about the fate of the F4 but if they can come along too then great. Best announcement Fox can make at Comic Con today is that they sold the Fantastic Four rights back to Disney.![]()
I believe Kinberg is trying to spin. It's all too reactionary and specific to not be damage control. How much is truth? I remember his comment about "we have the costumes" was shortly after Mara said she didn't know if there were any costumes - in fact didn't know anything really. That was shortly before shooting so I would imagine that costumes would need to be fitted. Maybe they'll add the costumes in post.
Anyhow, a lot of things don't add up. Josh Trank has a clear "vision" but they are "still trying to figure out the direction and what they want to do".
The FF shouldn't even have powers in this movie. Ben can be a geologist, Johnny can be a fireman, Reed can be a stretch instructor. Sue doesn't even have to appear.

Wow, not bringing a comic book adaptation that will be coming out during the next year to the TOP showcase??????
Well, looks to me like they are TOTALLY putting all their money on pushing this to the general audience and putting the money on advertising that is totally focused on them. Hmmmmm...... this should very interesting to watch come about.
The FF shouldn't even have disabilities in this movie. Ben can be a geologist, Johnny can be a fireman, Reed can be a stretch instructor. Sue doesn't even have to appear.

I do agree with this but it always makes me wonder just how strong or weak word of mouth can be from the fans/fanboys, considering we make up only a tiny bit of the box office compared to the general audience. I can't imagine Fox being nervous or scared that fans might spread negative word of mouth on a level that actually makes this film bomb hard. If the trailer looks good and even action packed, the general audience will still turn out I imagine.
They're complete fools for not showing anything at SDCC.
For those who keep bringing up that Marvel Studios isn't faithful to the comics, just look at the stuff released on Age of Ultron, and compare it to the PR disaster that is Trank's FF film, and tell me how in the hell this movie is going to measure up to that one?
I guess Fox knew what the reactions will be so they're staying away from SDCC.
I am baffled that people state that MS isn't faithful to the comics. For the most part, they're the most faithful. They do make changes of course but overall I see the comics come to life more in their films than others. With that being said, I do love 3-4 of the Spider-Man films and 5 of the X-men films.
Agreed. Whenever I get bummed about this FF reboot I'm going to look at that Age of Ultron poster. Holy freaking cow! It's glorious!!
t:I can't wait for them to show Thor and Hulk. I might get a print of it when an HQ version makes its way online.t:

What's sad is that a FF film done right, could be every bit as glorious and imaginative as that AoU poster shows that film to be.
Unfortunately Fox has stuck with directors who have very little creativity or imagination to envision a film like that, but it is what's most needed for a true FF film.
That's what's so depressing to me. The answer to making FF stand out isn't to make it more 'grounded', it's to make it more like FF - bigger and bolder than the competition like the comics were when they first came out.
I should be happy reading the advance reviews for GOTG, because it sounds like they nailed it, but I can't help thinking: "That could have been FF."
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/03...pealed-to-him-about-the-fantastic-four-rebootI didn't grow up really as a comic book kid necessarily... for me I guess what attracted me originally was Josh Trank... When I read the script, I didn't feel like I was reading this larger-than-life, incredible superhero tale. These are all very human people that end up having to become I guess what is known as the Fantastic Four.
http://movies.cosmicbooknews.com/content/we-dont-call-them-fantastic-four-says-simon-kinberg-videoBy the end of the movie, we don't call them the Fantastic Four. They are not celebrity superheroes. The tone of the movie is much more grounded, real and gritty; more in the direction of Chronicle...
