Hmm I dont think those two will move in August. Less competition for this reboot, the better.

With this statement, you yourself are giving evidence of how weak this movie is...

Not really, I just think a Pixar film or a big budget film like Tomorrowland would hurt the Fantastic Four at the box-office if they opened in the same weekend. I could say the same thing to Apocalypse if it is opening along with a Pixar film or a big budget film. Anyway, I prefer The Fantastic Four to be the only new wide release film for its opening weekend because it probably get most of it b.o gross in its first weekend. So I was happy that Goosebumps moved, not that I thought Goosebumps was gonna crush this film at the box-office.

I don't even know how people can still call this movie 'Fantastic Four'.

It is. It's currently set to open against the Alice sequel from Disney. Alice in Wonderland made significantly more than any of the X-Men films.

And FYI, everything you just said points out an obvious lack of faith that this Fantastic Four film will be good.

Yeah I know that. But 2016 is still 2 years away, so the release date might change.

I doubt it. As it stands the rest of 2016 is a packed house. And Fox doesn't really seem the type to experiment with this in the fall.

It's sad, because the perfect date for FFINO is january. It will be with "friends" :whatever:

"Oh yeah, aight. Aight, I put on my robe and wizard hat."

Is that what Domashev is calling his poor excuse for armour that looks more like tin foil and a woman's scarf wrapped around his head?

I wonder if Disney already have (or know exactly when they will have) the 3D conversion of 'The Incredibles' in the bag, and are just waiting until announcing it's official release date? ie: wherever Fox settles for FFINO (which could still change, though I'd think it unlikely now with nothing else atm opening that August 7th weekend), they will make sure Incredibles opens against it.

If the Mouse really wants to take a bite out of the Fox, that would be one way of doing it.

There is no way Disney is going to scrap something big in that slot when Ant-Man is two weeks prior. It's just wishful thinking. Either it will be another studio or FFINO will have the slot and do what it does at the box office. As of now, don't expect any massive competition for this on the same weekend. Let it go people.

Well the Incredibles isn't exactly big as such. It would be a rerelease, just in 3D now. The film has already been made.

I'm not expecting it. For the moment FFINO does look to be in the clear that weekend, and if competition comes I'd agree it would be far more likely to come from another studio.

That being said, if Ike really wants to turn the screw on Fox then (hypothetically) the 3D re-release of the Incredibles would be a means to that end.

And I think tommorrowland (a Disney flick) comes out 3 weeks after Avengers AOU? So it's not like they are giving the flicks under their wings a huge wide berth. AOU is likely to be a juggernaut too and still going very strong when Tomorrowland opens.

Tomorrowland seems like the ideal candidate to open opposite FFINO. I don't think Ant-Man will be as big as the Avengers, although I could be wrong. It could still be as big as GOTG possibly. But in that case, maybe even Ant-Man could be the competition against FFINO if it's only 2 weeks before.

FFINO would need to have extremely good reviews to draw audiences to a franchise that is already held in low regard by the public compared to a Marvel Studios franchise that is coming off the success of A:AOU. GOTG had the top slot for weeks, even after losing it for a couple because of TMNT (which has a higher standing at the moment than FF).

Ant-Man may end up moving. It has serious competition opening against "Pan" and there could be a delay due to the tight production schedule.

In any case, FFINO will not get a free release. There's too much competition for summer dates, and GOTG proved last year that early August can be a productive slot. Studios aren't going to be afraid of the Tranktastic Four.

I don't see any official word Goosebumps was moved off August 7, 2015. I see 2016 on some publicity photos of the monsters (that I think may be mis-marked). Where did that information come from?

Why on earth are Fox releasing Peanuts on the same day as James Bond? Wouldn't it be better to swap Peanuts with FFINO? First of all, Peanuts is something they are genuinely invested in and August is a month in which it could do well, especially if there is no other competition that week. On the other hand, it wouldn't make much of a difference if FFINO releases at the same time as Bond, since Trank's movie is probably dead on arrival anyway.

They ought to swap them round even just for the sake of Peanuts.

Also, why did Marvel Studios schedule Thor 3 for July 28 instead of July 14 (the same date as FFINO2)?

That's it. D00M's costume is just a lame attempt at Harry Potter cosplay. :oldrazz:

They need to fire their PR man. If they really focused on the X-verse, they can actually rival the MCU. Wolverine, Deadpool, Storm, Star Jammers, X-Force, and Cable.............there are tons of ways they can go if they sat down and thought it through. Heck Marvel turned freakin Guardians of the Galaxy into an almost billion dollar franchise, you mean to tell me Deadpool can't come close to that?!! These guys are freakin idiots when it comes to the comic book game.

This is laughable because it's FOX but I see your point. FOX can't rival Marvel's success even under the best circumstances simply because they don't have enough characters in their roaster to do it. They also screwed up by centralizing all their films on one character, Wolverine. It's easier for Marvel to work around the Xmen universe or F4 universe because they have a stable of characters they can sub for the one they don't own the rites too. FOX can't do this so easily. The Silver Surfer for example if ever made into a film would come out the gate with limitations. Who will his villains be since all his known villains are owned by Marvel. All Fox has on the cosmic side of things is Galactus and SS. Do they own the other the rites to Galatus's other Heralds? Grey Area and probably not because the SS and Galactus was sold as part of the F4 universe, just them two. The characters that exist in the SS universe within his own title wasn't even on the table. I guess they could do something with the Shiar and the Brood but are their any stand out known characters in the Shiar and the Brood race like their is with the Kree? Does Fox have the rites to the Brood? Gladiator comes to mind from the Shiar but he's hero and does FOX have the rites to him? The Shiar race yes but Gladiator? This is that grey area, like FOX having the Super Skrull for F4 but not the Skrull race. I know I read that Feige mentioned that they can use the Skrulls when that whole debate about why they are calling them the Chitari instead of the skulls. They decided to use that name and save the Skrulls for later use because of their shapshifting ability and it couldn't be properly shoehorned in for the Avengers film.

I think Fox has potential with the Xmen universe to craft out some solid performing solo flicks but to rival marvel?????? Anything is possible but looking at it and their stable of characters and limitations I don't see it. A genius would have to be in charger to pull this off and from FOX??? No.

I think if Marvel is smart they'll movie Any Man to August. Their ego and fear may prevent this because when all of your movies are solid hits that are opening at number 1 then moving maybe seen as a sign of weakness and faith in the project, which it shouldn't be.

Guardians may give some momentum to other studios. But Disney loves that Memorial Day release. That's when they like to open their summer slate, MCU not withstanding. And we know WB won't be shying away from Ant-Man. So maybe Ant-Man should move August. I'd be shocked, but we've seen crazier things happen before. Keep in mind Marvel still gets the 5-7% BO from FF films, so it would be counterproductive, but we'd only be talking a few million or so.

For what it's worth Marvel moved Dr. Strange very close to the Sinister Six release date, and most trades have reported that Marvel and Sony have a better relationship than Marvel and Fox.

I just saw the trailer for "Pan" which ended with a "Summer 2015" tag. It's looks like its going to be moving away from Ant-Man, and the spot opposite FFINO makes sense.
