Don't you gotta read R.I.P. too?

Nah, it's the two issues after RIP that tie-in into FC. They aren't totally essential, but they add a lot. Also, same for his Seven Soldiers series.

Yeah, RIP isn't essential. I've didn't read RIP before Final Crisis and I got FC just fine. I don't think I've ever actually read the full RIP story, even today.

Barely. Bring Max Lord around on a bad day after Supes and Bats have had a fight and we'll see if Supes' subconscious is strong enough to keep him from beating Batman into pulpy cranberry sauce then. :oldrazz:

and i dont mean controlled by max lord, i mean snap and turn into a AHOLE ala tony from irredeemable

Anyone read Perez's War of the Gods? Can I read just the four issue mini, or do I need any of the tie-ins to get what's happening?

I remember that. Cranberry sauce was EVERYWHERE! :wow:

I hope this is the right section for this.

A friend and I were discussing various fights and we came onto the subject of Amazo.

I know he can copy the powers of people like Superman and The Flash, but what about people whose powers are entirely based in magic?

Like could he copy the powers of someone like Doctor Fate or The Spectre?

I was arguing that he wouldn't be able to since those powers function outside of the realm of science which he is based on, but I was wondering if there were any examples to the contrary?

1: You'd probably be better of asking this in the stupid questions thread.

2: Yeah, he can do it. He's done it before. He's copied Wonder Woman's powers and weapons and those are gifts from the Helenic pagan gods. I don't see why he couldn't, either. "Outside the realm of science" doesn't make much sense to me. Science isn't a thing, it's a method of analyzing data and the ubrella term for several different fields of study that use said method to varrying degrees. Magic powers and stuff, in the DCU at least, are still ultimately phenomena that effect the universe in some way or another. Just because they're tied to sentient minds but aren't achieved through technology or the scientific method doesn't mean that a computer will start going haywire and say "love... does not... compute" before exploding if it tries to figure out how it works.

That being said, I doubt he'd be able to copy The Spectre's powers, simply because the Spectre's probaby too powerful for his abilities to be synthesized, and I doubt he'd even allow Amazo's scanners to get a lock on him.

Is Wally still the fastest Flash? Did DC give Barry a buff after his return, since now he's the de facto Flash?

Well if you read Flash: Rebirth they do address Barry's speed to Supermans. Now when Barry actually tries Superman cant even come close to keeping up with him. How this buff compares to Wally's powers Im not sure but I just assumed Barry was faster.

Wally was able to dust Supes like that as well.

So are the Flash comics truly terrible now that Barry's the Flash again? Everywhere I go online it's "The Flash sucks now this" and "The Flash sucks now that".

No, it's not bad at all... Boring at times since Barry is pretty bland compared to Wally and Bart. The artwork from Manupal is amazing and Johns writing is solid.

Hmm. You wouldn't think that considering that there seem to be a lot of Geoff Johns haters on line.

Just a vocal minority and the disenfranchised readers who chose the path of indifference.

I'm bitter at the lack of Wally, but I'm not going to say that Johns is a bad writer. He's like Brian Michael Bendis when his reach doesn't exceed his grasp.
