For me I think its too early to bring in Gravage just yet, just let juvenile Hulk talk more, I think thats the best way to go for now.

I think Marvel Studio's had more than enough times to get it right. Gravage/Green Scar is at least the second incarnation of the Hulk from the comic starting with issue #2. So I see no reason why he could not manifest. I think it's time the studio did something different with Hulk.

With the reboot I would have loved to see Savage/Child-like Hulk or Gravage Hulk and set up a progression or regression of Banner's psyche, but they did neither. This will probably be Hulk's last hurrah if he does not make an impact in the Avengers movie for a long time.

This.

It's way overdue for a character with so many different incarnations to try something fresh.

Personally, I think had there not been an issue with all involved with Norton being replaced and Marvel willingness to do a TIH2; TIH2 would have been the film to start to show some of the other personalities of the Hulk. Especially given TIH was a loose continuation from Ang Lee Hulk; giving it essentially two films.

Also, the fact at the end of TIH with Bruce attempt to gain some control of the Hulk and what "Mr. Blue" The Leader did could all be explainable reasons for the GA, as to the different incarnations of the Hulk... w/o it being so confusing with those movie goers who are no familiar with the Hulk many personas.

But... TIH2 didn't happen; a missed opportunity. With that said, unless the writers can give a reasonable explaination to introducing a new personality to the Hulk... like Hulk's gamma mutation reacting to the Cosmic Cube or Loki's mind-control of Hulk opens up untapped regions of the Hulk brain and/or persona... I say NO! There is enough going on in the film that need some invested time explaining to keep the continuity and flow/pace of the film going.... to have to be bogged down with another plot point that may be confusing to a percentage of the GA.

I think a simple explanation like...the gamma energy along with Banner trying to control the Hulk, must have unleashed a dark side of his personality.

I really, really doubt that the "general audience" will care and or notice if the Hulk more of the Gravage personality, it's not like someones going to walk out of cinema going "the Hulk had higher intelligence than a 3 year old! Holy **** Marvel never explained that! @&$%!! Money back'!!

^I don't understand why the sarcasm in your post???

Gravage as opposed to Savage is a difference in intelligence. I expressed before that I think that the Savage/Child-like Hulk would probably get more response from an audience both young and old, but he has to be done right with his correct syntax, otherwise he will come off sounding ridiculous , losing his appeal, especially if they write him talking like a cave man.

I prefer Gravage for the movies, not because he's a scholar, but because he's easier not to screw up.

Jeph Loeb Head of Marvel's Television department Interview:

"SUPERHERO TOONIVERSE:
If there was a show of the Hulk, would there be an attempt for a connection beetween a TV Hulk and a movie Hulk?

JEPH LOEB:
I think the best way to answer that question is that in TV it's important that it feel like it's Marvel. What the studio has managed to do with the features is that they have been incredibly successful at bringing the comics to life. While there are certainly things that are different in the Iron Man movies and Thor and Captain America may not line up beat for beat with the ocmics, there's nothing there that doesn't feel like the comic book, the source material, the DNA. That's where you start getting into trouble, and there have been an awful lot of bad examples of that. Daredevil was a good example -- terrible film, and it's a wonderful comic book, but it sort of moves off and goes into its own little land. When you do that, that's the result you get. So our feeling is that animation and live TV will embrace what the studio embraced, and, yes, there are people who say that the films live in a Marvel movie universe and then there's a comic book universe, so we're not committing to any universe. What we're doing is telling stories, telling Marvel stories. Again, with The Avengers, credit to Josh and Chris, who are enormous Avengers fans."

Now if they can only get Hulk right in the movies and in television.

The rest of the quote is equally great:

"SUPERHERO TOONIVESE:

As the show has gone on, it's really kicked ass.

JEPH LOEB:

That's everyone's general feeling. The most fun -- and I would recommend this to anyone -- is to come to our panels at any of these cons [such as next week's San Diego Comic-Con], because we show the peisodes that haven't been seen yet. Watching them with an audience is extraordinary, because the feeling of universality in terms of the thrills and the adventure and the humor, and all that stuff, when you play to 1,000 people is terrific. Particularly with the Hulk, who explodes on screen. People cheer when he comes on screen and it's just fun and thrilling."

Joss, Marvel, and the the rest of the film-making team have the ability to tap into this. I just hope they do. The Hulk character can have a real powerful draw and tap into and connect with the audience.

Yes it is.

That's the way it should be in the movies. And that Gravage Hulk persona would help people dig his general badassity. Rather than a child-like destructive monster, they'd be getting a full-on tough guy monster (or man??? :P) who's misunderstood and pissed off to hell about it.

When I read Planet Hulk and saw his memories/dreams/whatever it was, I was pissed with him because I genuinely related to him. Anyone who's been misunderstood by a group of irritating people and treated with ignorance & pretentiousness, even just once, gets that rage and to see someone unload on them is so satisfying. I think I just like Hulk and Banner being separate characters that have to coexist in one body in a demented odd couple fashion rather than just have Hulk be Banner's personified rage as it were.

I have to interject this statement for clarity...I am a Hulk fan first and foremost. By that I mean that I am a fan of the adventures of BRUCE BANNER. I love all of the Hulk incarnations, but I care least for the mindless Hulk. I love the Savage incarnation almost as much as I do Gravage/Green Scar who to me is my personal favorite. But when Savage/Child-like Hulk is written perfectly ala Len Wein, Bill Mantlo, Steve Englehardt and Roger Stern I like him as much as I do Gravage. The problem lies in that when writers who miss the correct characterization of that incarnation, write him incorrectly, like he's a lose cannon, a savage caveman or an unreasoning monster, they ruin my love for him. He seems easy enough to figure out, but many writers have no understanding of that version and have ruined him with their ignorance. He is supposed to be child-like and throws tantrums, not a raving aimless mad-man/monster.

With that said I'd love to see the badassity of Gravage in the Avengers movie. I think he would work best in this type of environment.

You should really pick up Peace in Our Time and you'll see just why Hulk had it in for the heroes. Part of Hulk's appeal for me, is what you've stated, you're supposed to understand why he reacts the way he does, not saying he's always right, but you understand.

I'll have to check it out then. I don't know as much about the character as I'd like to, but from my standpoint that's how I see him and I hope they nail it at some point.

As it is, the Hulk is the most interesting character in comics. He's the only reason I still pick up comic books. There is so much depth and conflict to him. Banner's story is truly a Greek tragedy.

It should be a event when , the Hulk shows up in the Avengers. A good score along with lots of ass-kicking would be good

"Particularly with the Hulk, who explodes on screen. People cheer when he comes on screen and it's just fun and thrilling."

That's also why TIH was so much fun, aside from the fact that it had the perfect comic book vibe. There was not one boring Hulk action sequence.

I'm thinking that it'll strongly depend on how well audiences receive Hulk's characterization and Mark's performance in the Avengers before Marvel decides to give the Hulk another solo adventure of his own.

Found something great) Not with our Ruffalol unfortunately, but still it's worth a look) Looking at it now, I totally understand, why Earth's Mightiest Heroes crew decided to use this version of Banner in the series.

Now if only someone could manips those with marks head on them....

Sigh .... seeing pics of Norton makes me sad because of what could have been .... :csad:

Indeed.

Ever since watching TIH, and hearing that the Avengers was going to happen, I was waiting to see as to how Norton's Banner was going to interact with the rest of the Avengers.

Oh well.

Yeah, they were definitely going to milk that "two Oscar-nommed actors" thing in the promos had Norton still been on board.
