I'm totally with you on this. I'd like it to be shown that Hulk is a completely different person from Banner. He doesn't just turn back when he calms down and I like that about the recent Hulk movie. He sees Betty and doesn't just turn back. He picks her up and walks away and even shares a moment with her in the rain watching the night sky. Then later at the end he doesn't just turn into Banner. He runs off to do his own thing.

I'd like to see that Hulk really does just hang around after the big battles and he has to LET Banner back out or Banner has to fight his way back. That or he's tranqed or goes to sleep or something.

I completely agree. One of my pet peeves with the live-action series and the two animated Hulk series is that Hulk rarely sticks around when he's not enraged. That's why most of the general population doesn't know about the character's finer points beyond SMASH!!!

Hulk, in A:EMH or Superhero Squad, always sticks around even when calm, especially the latter. In SS, he goes to sleep as Hulk and wakes up as Hulk. Apart from the small cameo of Banner in the opening credits gag, he's never turned back to Banner. Even that gag doesn't really prove he's Banner either, as he's turned into Vision, Homer Hulk, Modok etc. I think the Banner identity doesn't exist in that show, and that's fine by me, as Hulk is a funny character there.

i think the hulk is ****ing lame.

But not for long. As it showed in the TV series episode, "The Harder They Fall", his healing factor was working everytime he transformed, so that while Banner was paralysed, and when he turned into the Hulk he was indeed lame as he couldn't walk, he quickly recovered. He gained the ability to move again, and then by the end could completely move as normal.

The same thing happened after Secret Wars where, after being shot in the leg by Ultron, Hulk was lame and had to use a crutch. When he arrived back on earth, he got so angry against an enemy (I forget who) that his lameness completely disappeared and he ditched his crutches and engaged in the battle.

So the moral of this is that no matter how lame you think Hulk is, he never stays that way for long.

Greg Pak kind of pinpointed that with the whole WWH thing. Hulk was calm at times, yet subconsciously he was still stressed out for obvious reasons. Hence his not changing back.

This is true but also because Hulk and Banner were in unison in WWH, Banner let the Hulk take charge.

I really enjoy the relation between pak has used for hulk and banner recently, with them two in agreement basically taking turns with being the hero, they almost change on a whim.

In the cartoon series, Banner and Hulk are aware of each other. Hulk agrees to be a hero in exchange for staying the Hulk instead of turning back to Banner. So Banner has basically given up control to Hulk for the most part and just sort of hangs around and can pop up when needed like when they needed a formula to beat the Leader.

I hope in the MCU's case, that they're able to find a more better and well balanced means towards having the Hulk and Bruce Banner personas coexist with each other.

Instead of one becoming the more dominant persona, have them come to the point where they allow each other to have a reasonable time "out" to experience the world.

Thing is in the movies, Hulk doesn't really have any personality or character of his own at all. We don't eve know if he's aware of Banner.

Well, I think that's something that could be introduced in "The Avengers', and I would guess that it would be necessary since the Hulk is going to be a part of a group, and therefore, would need to have a conscious in order to make sure that he doesn't just turn on his own teammates or on innocent civilians once he's done taking care of the aliens.

I love in EMH when Wasp helps Hulk smash gravaton or whatever his name is and Hulk goes "you....help Hulk?" and Wasps like "yea now kick his butt!"

Hopefully, I think the turning point for The Hulk in this movie will be when he finds that The Avengers dont see him as just a monster but part of the team. This helps kind of subdue Hulks constant rage and I feel opens him up to having Banner play a bigger role in The Hulks psyche. Banner has more of a say inside The Hulk, the voice of reason when things go wrong. Hulk wants to be free but knows he needs Banner to help him feel more like part of a family with IM Thor Cap and less of a "LEAVE...ME...ALONE!" type of Hulk.

You reminded me of a question I've been meaning to ask here on the hype. I've never seen SHS (it looks a bit too kid-centered for my taste) but I've been considering letting my 3-year-old watch it.

I'm very wary of letting a child that young watch anything violent. How are the fights on the show? I've heard that just about everything is light and comedic? It is approrpriate for a child that young?

So anyone else want to throw out their theories of why Banner, let alone the Hulk, would agree to join the Avengers in the film?

Out of ALL of the members present in the group, Banner/Hulk has never been considered as a hero by anyone, and he's always been portrayed as someone who's more of a loner.

So I'm just wondering that aside from being caught and forced to join, what would get him to willingly participate in the group?

A full pardon and not being chased all the time? Shield could really help him.

I hope Banner is offering up Hulk to contribute to the team.

Could Shield really promise him that? I mean it was General Ross that had been mainly pursuing him all of this time and he seems to have a higher ranking of some sort than Fury does as shown in "The Consultant".

Hulk's one of the strongest forces on the planet, when all hell is breaking loose and you have all powerful immortals invading the planet, he's a trump card you want on your side when all else fails. Not to mention that Banner's intellect is equally formidable. That is also something you want on your side. Hulk is a wild card, but sometimes a wild card is exactly what you need when the situation looks dire.

Also I think Hulk being on a team works because he is so unpredictable and chaotic. It makes the dynamic more interesting because he's a volatile variable. You never know when that fuse is going to be lit too much. Not to mention it could also be a great source of humor having jade jaws on the team. Be it his teammates having to walk on egg shells around Banner or the Hulk if he's actually around.

Nah, I don't think it showed that at all. It was just Coulson trying to navigate red tape/procedures and the chain of command. Shield is its own organization, that answer (apparently) to the Marvel version of the UN. Its like the FBI and CIA. Theres no direct command from one over the other in many cases, but one can influence the other in different ways, and also can't just boss the other around. They are "supposed" to have different juristictions but we all know thats not always the case, as the CIA operates in the US as well.

Does anyone know if IM, CA, and Thor will have to go and fight Hulk before he joins The Avengers? If so, I can't wait to see it.

It's gonna be interesting to see how powerful they make Thor against the Hulk. He's the only one who can technically stand toe to toe with the Hulk and actually end the fight. Unless of course they make it so the Hulk batters Thor like they always do. Hmmmm should be interesting to see how it's handled.
