Yeah, I remember, this happened right before Hulk grabbed Doctor Strange's astral/ghost form and broke his hands on the astral and physical plane while they were still in Hulk's mind, destroying his ability to use magic. :oldrazz:

That Hulk is a MONSTER!!!

I still don't get how he was able to do that.

Mind of matter? Idunno. Astral Hulk broke astral Strange's hands so real Strange's hands got all screwed up too. Maybe it's that Freddy Krueger logic where you die in your sleep you die for real.

It sort of makes sense. The reason Banner wasn't destroyed by the gamma blast was because he was able to will the explosion that that should have vaporized him into his body.

That sort of willpower would translate into the Astral Plane. If Banner has the will to control a gamma explosion, then it makes sense he would have the will to break Strange's Astral hands as well. Heck, he'd probably give Xaviar a hard time on the Astral Plane as well.

My theory of why Hulk can do these things has to do with his innate nature of his being. If we think of the logistics of what Hulk is, an image from Banner's mind...repressed emotion, his Id, Ego, Super-Ego, survival instinct, his internal self defense mechanism externalized, etc (all that have been stated in comics)... he seems to be a creature of mind over matter, mind over energy, mind over mind.

There was a reason why long die-hard Hulk fans like myself loved Greg Pak's work on Hulk, and it's because there are little nuances about the Hulk and his abilities's that he built on that we were aware of that most casual Hulk readers were and are not.

Hulk has manipulated energy and done weird stuff before. Some of the first issues of Hulk that I read was issue TIH #242 & 243 (excellent story and should be read to understand him better), in those issues Hulk did something that the narration itself stated in the clearest language was and should be impossible by any being. Hulk being angry as hell, trying to get at Tyrannus somehow was able to grab hold of an energy field that was intangible...as if it was tangible (words from the story). The machine was built to withstand the power of the gods, called the Eternal Flame, and in the strory Hulk later completely destroyed it.

Hulk has been able to channel energy blasts through himself at times and shoot them back at an opponent. Hulk can see ghosts or astral forms/projections where others can't and he can also sense magic. He's been shown to locate Doctor Strange's home when it's mystically cloaked. Hulk has breathed underwater and in outer space. Hulk's mind once took him to a place where there was a town of people that may not have been in the immediate dimension. He's always from day 1 had uncanny accuracy when throwing at targets. Hulk can do more than just smash.

There is a post on another board called the Hulk Respect Thread where you can see Hulk's more incredible feats and abilities.

Sounds about right. I place Hulk in the realm of monsters more than just a super powered being, so when you think of his abilities it's best to make analogies with his other monstrous likes.

NICE!!!

Xavier has had a hard time trying to control the Hulk since the first time they met. His rage has always been too much for him.

God i love the Hulk. This is what people don't get. He's so much more than Hulk Smash. He is able to do what most people think he shouldn't and that's EXACTLY what makes him awesome.

Perhaps, but if they were so afraid of the Hulk, I'd imagine that they wouldn't let Banner walk around so freely within the hellcarrier, and the EW article stated that the Hulk actually saves Iron Man from falling onto the ground hard from the sky by catching him in his arms.

Then there's also what Tom mentioned about the Hulk being apart of the group when they look down at him as he's defeated.

Sorry, could you elaborate on this comment? Does Hulk lie defeated at some point in the movie?

He means Loki lies defeated as the group, including Hulk stand over him.

That comment is open to interpretation.
All Hiddleston said was that he was looking up at the Avengers. *We* just automatically assume that he meant that he was lying down, but he never said that. For all we know, he could be saying that the Avengers were on a platform above him, or flying, or whatever.

It's called "plot induced stupidity". That whole event was full of it.

Exactly. None of that makes a damn bit of sense no matter how anyone tries to explain it, but it happened because that's what the writer wanted.

Would either of you please tell me which super powered beings powers make sense and please provide real world scientific proof to do it.... I'll be waiting....forever....:whatever:

Come on, World War Hulk was insanely powerful, and had gone beyond purely physical strength, becoming an almost elemental force by the end of it (continent quaking foot steps).

Not a hard idea to buy he could hurt Strange on the astral plane with that damage carried over. I mean, the Hulk has always had an inbuilt link to the astral plane (can see astral forms) so having him be able to do damage to Strange there is no more daft than believing it could exist at all.

Hulk got his butt handed to him by Zeus in this one:

Indeed, but Zeus is an Skyfather. Hulk has no chance against one at this level of power.

Rather disgusting, yet fitting. Hulk asked for that.

What's up with all those Hulk-creatures and the "family"? Looks like he sprouted a trail of minor knock-offs just like Superman has over the years. Cheesy. What's next? Spikey the Hulk-Dog? :whatever:

Just because we're talking about fictional characters with superpowers doesn't mean the stories shouldn't make sense. It doesn't mean certain things ain't bad writing.

Comics is full of "plot induced stupidity". Things that are stupid to make the story more interesting or last longer. Batman having a chance against Superman for example. Or Spider-Man knocking out Firelord. Or Wolverine going toe to toe with Hulk. Or Thor not just dimension dumping Hulk when they fight. Rulk taking out pretty much everyone he came across when he first showed up.

Sometimes things happen simply because the writer wants them to happen. World War Hulk was full of that.

Great post.

Very true

That's kinda what makes comics exhilarating to read for some people imo.

Hulk's gone up against worse before, hasn't he? I like the Hulk but it's great to see him get his butt kicked for a change every once and a while. :awesome:

Much worse, heck The Sentry couldnt defeat Hulk in WWH after cutting loose so how Zeus can god knows.

I don't follow the comics that much, did Zeus fight World War hulk or just savage hulk? Is World War Hulk the strongest incarnation of the character?
