The question is .... can Mark Ruffalo really headline? I'm not convinced of that. The movie wouldn't be all Hulk all the time. Ruffalo would take up much of the screen time.

I think Mark Ruffalo is a very good actor and would do well with the part.

Thing is .... they would've made a decent profit had the spat not flared up between Norton and the Marvel Execs. The botched marketing after all that went down is what really set it back.

That might be, but for most fans time passes and wounds heal, and then fresh stuff comes along and reignites their passion, which is potentially what I see happening here.

I'm not asking if you think he'd do well. Can he headline is the question. Will general audiences gravitate to "Mark Ruffalo the leading man as "The Incredible Hulk" ....

Well let me put it this way. Between Norton and Ruffalo, I would have to say that I feel Norton is a slightly better actor, but both are very talented. However, I kind of see Norton as being skinny and too clean cut (somewhat of a pretty boy), so I never really felt he was right for the part of the Incredible Hulk. This is not to suggest that I don't feel he did a great job acting in the role, but it had more to do with his look not being right for me. Now with Mark Ruffalo, I think he looks a little more average and a little more relateable to me as the character, and although I don't remember any movie of his where he was the only major actor involved, I do recall him being involved in several major movies where I felt he did an "incredible" job. No pun intended. In addition I have heard that Mark is doing all of the expressions and I believe most if not all of the body language for the Hulk character in the Avengers movie. So, based on everything I have witnessed thus far, I would have to say it looks like he gets the character. So, to answer your question, given all of the combined facts involved. Yes I believe he could Headline the Incredible Hulk 2 and would do a great job.

Surfer

Well said Surfer! I find your comments on their looks weird though, cuz I always thought of Norton as an average "guy next door" type, FAR from a pretty boy! I like them both, Ruffalo is a great actor as well.

I think if they keep the budget around 150 mil and use the same cgi model from Avengers, bring in the leader and possibly u-foes (use the storyline where leader wipes out that city in desert) then it will do well

I like this idea... I'm tired of all the gamma-related entities. Bring HULK and the Leader with the U-foes or Rhino or something... I've always LOVED Rhino! He'd make an awesome toady of the Leader! Wendigo would be a really cool story as well.

Looks wise Norton was the best banner IMO, really looked like the comic counterpart. With that said and as much as I love TIH his banner was a bit bland, it almost felt like Norton was holding back, with a constant montone voice, I've seen him act alot better. I also never believed he was this super genius scientist, they didn't show off his smarts, only really with the lab kit he made.

It's not my opinion. It's a fact that Gladiator is FTL, as proven on multiple occasions. He's basically a flying Wally West with the strength of Pre-Crisis Superman.
But when he fights more popular characters, the writer ignores this fact because 1. it would make the fight really boring and 2. he's not popular enough to make chumps out of the likes of Hulk and Thor.
You can't take everything in the comics at face value. I mean really, do you think it's good writing and makes sense that Black Panther can defeat the Silver Surfer?

It's a fact that the Hulk has a cosmos-destroying thunderclap. So, using your logic, the Hulk would always destroy the cosmos that Gladiator is in, winning every time. After all, (traveling at the speed of light) it takes sunlight 8 minutes to reach the Earth; the Hulk can clap his hands together a little quicker than 8 minutes. So, as Gladiator is flying across the universe trying to get to the Hulk, the Hulk destroys the universe that Gladiator is in. See you in 30 days when the Hulk fights The Constrictor!

See how silly that is? So is always saying that someone will fly faster than light across the galaxy and then kill you, every fight.

Well maybe pretty boy is not the best description, but Norton always seems more groomed and clean cut to me. Where Mark his hair and looks always seem a little more out of control to me, kind of like the Hulk. Lol

The marketing, with all the problems between studio and Norton, was really botched... The movie could and should've done much better.

This is exactly why I don't feel Norton was the end all be all Banner like others do around here.

I am so glad to say that this

Agreed, but in fairness, this

But, yes, the picture directly above is the single worst head-shot from TIH, yet it's the one Marvel used the most to promote the film! WTF?!

I think that the first three pics I posted have better Hulk faces than some of the screen-caps of the Hulk tearing through that building in Avengers.

Exactly.:D That's the reason battle boards logic always fail.

Although I agree with you, the pictures you posted show a Hulk with intent, a mean looking Hulk whereas in the Avengers he's tearing through that corridor he looks to be just going bat crazy.

I agree with this statement, but despite Norton looking the most like Banner. I think Rufallo looks most like Hulk making the transition into the Hulk seem a little more realistic.

Yeah that Hulk does not look like one of the good guys haha.

I just can't get over how much I love what they're doing with the Hulk in The Avengers. It's soooo gooooood

Sorry but compared to the newer images it's not even close as far as realism. In comparison TIH looks more like a PS3 character. That pic of hulks face from the Avengers is about as real as a cgi model can get. Looks like a real green guy's face

my new biggest fear: that I won't ever go back and watch TIH when Avengers comes out cause I don't want to be disappointed with such a small scale story and lackluster (at times) Hulk effects

His eyes always made him really scary to me as a kid. Still gives me the shivers a bit lol

I was the same way. I loved the show when I was a little kid, but it scared the crap out of me the way his eyes looked when he changed into the Hulk.

I think a big part of that was the spooky metamorphosis music that went with it.
