Thing is they don't release enough movies as it is now to do the X-Men and even FF justice.

Though I am not a fan of X-Men over at Marvel Disney it doesn't mean that I am completely against it.

But isn't the number of films Marvel releases tied, at least in part, to Fox?

Right now we have Fox, Sony and Marvel all releasing "Marvel" films. If Fox is no longer releasing several films per year, doesn't that give Marvel the ability to release that many more films?

A reddit user is claiming to have inside information on MvC Infinity upcoming characters and say they are working on X-Men members and Dr Doom, so maybe Marvel is ready to lift the ban on those characters soon...

It's the same guy that predicted TMNT and Enchantress on Injustice...

Here's the thing I follow the fighting game scene pretty closely...and there is a different list going around with 4 capcom characters and 2 marvel from someone who has a record of being correct on these things....and the 2 marvel characters are Star Lord and Miss Marvel

HOWEVER! So you don't lose all hope....this person says that this release list is not set in stone and that there are a ton of other characters in the works that could take these characters places.

 I'm not up on the video games, but I thought there was some controversy recently because there were Fox characters who were specifically being omitted but were key to previous versions of the game.
Yeap, that was pretty much the deal. Wolverine, Deadpool, Magneto and Dr Doom were always main characters in the Marvel fighting series, the omission in Infinity was obviously because of the film rights (though the producers keep saying is because they are not popular with the kids :whatever: )

Maybe they are being developed just in case the deal is done, maybe it's just that Disney and Fox are playing nicer lately, or maybe is nothing. It's interesting that is all happening now though :)

dead pool made his first debut in a mvc fighting game in 3 so he isn't one of the staples, the others however are almost synonymous with the series. And MVC infinite sales reflect that, the fighting game community doesn't care abouyt the MCU lol

Yeah, Star Lord and Miss Marvel are in the upcoming DLC, the list that includes the X-Men and Doom is characters thery are working to release in the long run (supposedly, the guy says his sources are not saying all the same things regarding who is being developed). Still, it would be could if they are starting to think in those characters just in case something happens regarding the ban.

Here is a quote I missed earlier
This next section for MvCI gets absolutely wild and so I am dedicating its own section to it. I have one source that's told me some stuff that I feel I have to share in the event it is true, but it is pretty out there. Do not take me as backing all of this either. I'm just putting it out there in the event this has ANY TRUTH TO IT later. They claim the game will get a free update sometime around the summer of 2018 that adds Deadpool, Wolverine, Daredevil, Akuma, Gene, and Vergil as free characters.

Also, it looks pretty ugly :hehe:

We do owe the old 70's CBS network a shout out in a sense, as the MCU might not have taken off without a certain TV show back then, about a certain green rage monster.

As for the Mouse/Fox deal, I am for it, to get the rights home, as that would leave just the main spiderman rights outstanding to bring totally home, and our green goliath. Now, this all said...
I do worry. Part of what drove the MCU was showing the world you could do a hopeful, colorful, and somewhat happy movie on comicbooks, in comparison to the dark, dreary worlds (other than Raimi's SM movies) until then. Without that, could we be stuck with no new ways of looking at the core two clusters of superheroes? I hope not. I would love to see a MCU appearnce of Dept. H, not just that off the cuff mention from Black Widow we go so far.

I believe that no matter what, just to talk, Disney demanded a deal on SW/Marvel character rights, and those will be transferred for some cash/section, even if the deal for the whole of Fox's production side falls apart.

it's hideous! I didn't buy it and I'm a big Fighting game guy Capcom is not the company it once was.

I want this movie in 2020 more than anything

Sony grasping at straws, they making a morbius movie lol, .....they next....

I'm not sure if I'd want many more to be honest. I think 3 a year max is plenty. That may not go over well for the people who are against this idea, but the market is already getting saturated with the DC universe going forward. The measured approach is the best.

I've had this thought honestly, long term this move may help with a possible over saturation issue

I think so, that's one of the benefits which obviously won't get discussed too much. For me it goes back to the old showbiz axiom of "always leave them wanting more..."

I, obviously, can only speak for myself, but if they maintained the quality and released a different film every month, I'd be at the the movie theater every month.

But it might be impossible to maintain that quality while making that many films.

... but ten years ago, many of us might have argued 3 quality films per year would be impossible.

But at some point, it's not just about competing with DC or other studios. I'm sure they also don't want to step on the toes of Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean etc.

Personally, if there was a new comic book movie in the theater every week, I'd go. Even if it was crap, they'd get my money. Shoot, I even enjoyed the Inhumans show and everybody seems to think its horrid.

This year has really been an up year 4 out of 5 releases in the 90%+ and one 80%+ hopefully Justice league will be fresh. But I think that will be very hard to maintain going forward lol

Me too no doubt, however, stepping back from my fandom for a bit I can see value in less CBM's every year long term.

A negative would also be making Marvel films too common an occurrence, which would certainly dilute the impact of these films. It's the law of supply & demand: low supply and a high demand increases the price, while the greater supply lowers the demand.

Eh I'm not sure that works here. The price of a movie ticket is the same regardless of demand. How much they make off the movie may go up or down due to demand, but the price, is still the price.

Which is why if Marvel Studios got to make it and released it a few years from now, the demand would be huge. $$$$$ Guardians numbers. :cwink:

We need the OG band back together.

:bnd:

Agreed. Good DC films are also in this category, yeah I know this is a Marvel forum, but you get my point.
Good DC Films = healthy CBM industry. (along with Marvel)

I hope that Justice League is big hit for WB. I want to see Marvel and DC bring out the best in each other.
