The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - - - Part 15

So Ryan Reynolds and his wife in the MCU? :sly:

The way I see it F4 can start right way in Phase 4. The X-Men films in production will have to run its course (New Mutants, Dark Phoenix, not sure what stage Gambit is in right now but that could probably be scraped). Deadpool is the tricky one. Right now I think Disney/Marvel should just let run its course as well, let it stand alone in its own universe for the time being. Disney isn't going to just scrap a billion dollar franchise that a lot of people like. Deadpool 2 is going to make a lot of money but if it really sucks they can let it go quietly after that but I just don't see that happening.

Here is a link to an important Twitter quote I saw:

Keyword here, Deadpool SEQUELS. This sounds like the conversation of building off Deadpool has been had, and is very possible. Also of using FOX for R-rated Marvel films.

I'm ECSTATIC! I've been holding back on the celebration until the official announcement and here it is.

I've been waiting for this since the mid-seventies when Stan Lee claimed they were working on a "Big Budget FF film"

I picked up every magazine I could that featured articles on the Corman film while that was in production and even bought a copy of Carnosaur on VHS because it had a trailer for that film... only to see it disappear and only learn later what happened.

Then I followed all the rumors as Peyton Reed, Raja Gosnell and others were rumored to be directing until Tim Story was finally announced. I watched that 2005 production with huge anticipation only to be disappointed when the first Thing images arrived and then much more disappointed with the actual film. Rise of the Silver Surfer was even worse, but I had renewed expectations when we started getting Marvel films that they could get the rights from Fox.

It was a roller-coaster from 2009 to 2013 as I hoped we would get an announcement that Fox had sold the rights, but when it became clear Fox was going to make it, I tried to hope Trank could pull it off... only to be brutally disappointed when the cast was announced. And then the drip drip drip of awful news and rumors until the turd was finally laid.

Since that, I've been reasonably confident that, with enough time, the rights would return, but I was afraid we were in for a long wait... and the talk of a Doom film made me nervous that it might never happen.

Then this turn around over the past month has been amazing and today is definitely one of the best days of my life!

1. September 26, 1992 my son was born
2. August 29, 1989, I married my wife
3. December 14, 2017, Marvel gets the rights back!

Im at work right now and it's so hard to contain my joy. I just want to cry happy tears, dance my happy dance, spray champagne all over. This is a historic day.

Deadpool already fits in the MCU. The first movie had a helicarrier and Bob from Hydra.

Agreed. Deadpool being MCU is so easy to integrate :mnm:

Deadpools first film was kinda in its own self aware bubble anyway, with Wade making a joke about the actors playing Xavier, the studio not being able to afford more x-men, a couple of Jackman jokes etc.

They could just keep him the same with an integration into the MCU tbh. Get a 4th wall joke or 2 about joining the MCU out of the way, and let him get on with it.

Now can they finally feature Namor in a film? I want to see him in a Fantastic Four film.

Agreed. Put something post credits, or have Reynolds make a funny short like the one before Logan about it.

Any issue with Namor isn't solved by this deal. That's with Universal.

As I understand it he is in the same position as the Hulk. He can be used, but not in a solo without cutting Universal in on the distribution action.

Yeah, the only think I can see them doing is having another look at their edit of DP2 to check that they have kept it compatible with the MCU and there is nothing directly tying it to the FoX-Men Universe.

Fiege be like:

Oh, you poor deluded fools. Yes, Iger specifically called out the First Family in the press release. And he mentioned them rejoining the Marvel family. And you suckers actually bought it!

All the while Constantin is working behind the scenes. Plotting. Scheming. Patiently working their absolute control over the Fantastic Four live action rights and their majority share of the world wide zinc market to further their nefarious plans in regard to our precious bodily fluids.

So go ahead and celebrate. I'll be in my bunker waiting for the End of Days.

Woohoo!! I get to change my signature soon! The days of Fox making meh-to-terrible movies with Marvel characters is coming to an end!

So glad the Fantastic Four are back with Marvel. I've been wanting an MCU Fantastic Four for a while; they have always been my favourite of the Marvel characters, and it will be great to see a film that adapts the movies properly.

I enjoyed the Tim Story Fantastic Four films, but in hindsight they were far from perfect.

Unfortunately the "Constantin owns FF myth" just won't die, but this wonderful sarcastic response to those still stupid enough to believe that nonsense made me smile wide :D
