The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - - - - - - - - Part 20

Probably around what Marvel sold for, if not a little less since the movies haven't done nearly as well fiscally. (~$4B or <).

I think the DC properties could go for twice that amount if AT&T were forced to put them on the market. Though they've struggled with features, it's definitely fixable with the proper leadership. And they have a crapload of successful TV shows, a profitable comics and merchandise line, and a streaming service to boot. In retrospect Marvel went for WAY lower than it should have, and DC is the only entity that is comparable. That is one property that I could see the FAANG companies going all in on.

Ha, imagine Disney bidding on that. :woot:

At least DC would have more good movies (WW and Man of Steel were good but not that great) and I've seen plenty of DC fans wishing for something like that to happen. Who knows what the future holds for us, though.

Double might be a stretch. Maybe 1.5x what Marvel sold for at best. Certainly DC Films needs to be developed a lot more to be more independent of Warner Bros. The properties certainly carry a lot of value, and their TV production is pretty good. The question is whether they'd be spun out of WB or sold as a package deal. What makes that messy is how tightly integrated TV and animation is with WB, and in actuality is probably worth more as a package. Biggest point to bear in mind in this arena, is that the DOJ isn't nearly as concerned with the regulatory concerns of Warner Bros. as they are with HBO or Turner. So that opens the door for quite a few suitors should it come to AT&T parting with them.

I'd put it at 95%. After all we've been through, that's good enough for me.:woot:
We can not only see the light at the end of the tunnel, but also feel the warmth from it as well. We are literally feet away from walking into the light, and that is what makes this so exciting. More so, is having a path to go even further and potentially bring even more rights back home from Comcast. There is so much to look forward to.

So should we expect to see a "Comcast drops out the running for Fox assets" article soon? It's pretty much over. Or will Comcast just silently fade into the background

All that talk Comcast had of being confident in getting approval is now dead. :sly:

the shareholders now know for sure that siding with Comcast is a foolish risk. Here's hoping things go without hitch, it's still too early to celebrate (even though I really want to).

Congratulations, Disney. Just please leave Deadpool alone.

The day Marvel fans have been waiting for is almost here.

BRACE YOURSELVES!

For sure. They deserve it after 4 terrible films. Imagine seeing the Baxter Building in a post credits scene for Avengers 4 :hmr:

Personally I thought the Tim Story films were fine, although the MCU Fantastic Four assuming it happens will be amazing. Disney are the perfect company for a Fantastic Four film. The Fantastic Four are literally everything Disney is about.

You will see an uptick in their attention squarely put on Sky. If they say anything at all, it will be about how "valuable" Sky is. Don't expect any mention of Fox at all.

Any further activity is likely to be centered in the UK. The UK regulatory bodies set the minimum bid for Sky at Fox's current bid £14GBP per share, while Comcast's is £14.75GBP. We may see additional bidding before the dust settles, or we may see nothing else happen.

I expect Disney to advise Fox to take no further action, and let Comcast take Sky. Setting up a later potential deal for Disney to sell its 39% stake to Comcast in exchange for their 30% of Hulu, and various Marvel rights. Disney could also sell Star India to Comcast as well, basically creating a situation where Comcast ends up paying for a decent portion of Disney's acquisition debt of Fox. It would be brilliant business dealing on Iger's part, and make the debt of the deal that much easier to digest. Everyone essentially gets what they want then.

You can let loose a little bit. The battle for Fox is for all intents and purposes, over. :)

To think most of us wouldn't have dreamt of this a year ago. At least not in this fashion and not without backlash from the usual suspects.

How apropos.

I say we all rent a spaceship, go towards that ray and come back with superpowers.

Either that or another set of arms and a second head growing out of my side.

I'll take my chances, dang it!

Yeah, that's the crazy part - how much we're getting so fast. If you had told me this time last year: "The FF rights will revert in 2022." I would have been thrilled.

To get not just the FF but the X-Men this soon would have seemed like a crazy unrealistic fantasy just 8 months ago.

If they do, they'll be like the FFINO defenders who did exactly the same instead of coming in here to face the music once the Fant4stic reviews came out.
