Christopher Mcquarrie is one of my top picks to helm the MCU Fantastic Four film.
I want Brad Bird
More of a matter of when and not if. I agree that X-men as a property is large enough to be it's own cinematic universe there's no reason not to eventually include them to the MCU. While I think Marvel will immediate put F4 on the schedule I think they'll hold off on X-men. We've had a pretty consistent string of X-films for the better part of 2 decades (Seriously, first X-men film came out in 2000). I think the general audience needs a bit of a separation period in order to get excited about a new X-men film. I could see/hope for a scenario where Marvel would decide Dark Phoenix to be the last X-men film, but let Fox continue with a few more Deadpool and X-Force films. Allow fans to enjoy those franchises, specially since they'll be so different from the MCU reboot version that it'll feel like a breath of fresh air for the franchise.I will admit im skeptical the xmen will join the mcu. We know the F4 will. But id say xmen is still a coin toss. Yes it will happen eventually but i think theyll wait and see how dark phoenix does and get deadpool 3 out. I wonder if Fox put something in writing that says disney and marvel studios must wait a certain amount of time before integrating the xmen. Or they have to at least consider merging the mcu with the fox verse.
The xmen universe is so large it could be its own universe with the f4. With the odd avengers crossover
I know, right? Few years ago this was a pipe dream. Now X-men and F4 are pretty much lock, we got Spider-man (minus four members of his rogues gallery), Marvel can have it's cake and eat it too with Hulk, and I was never interested in Namor (and would be unlikely to show up after Aquaman). For me this is pretty much it.Kind of a surreal moment. After this the MCU is basically complete. Just those pesky spiderman rights to sort out and hulk and namor.
Sometimes fans want different things though. You can't please everybody.
Chump change compared to the 71 Billion Disney is paying for Fox.(Sigh) None of the six X-Men films has lost money, so that's a minimum of $180 million net to the studio that releases it. Disney will be deep in debt.
Because Disney just lost $71 billion in an unknown combination of cash and stock, they want to lose another >$180 million dollars to meet some fanboy demand that can't be explained to shareholders .
Logical!
To be fair, hes not calling out all fandom, mind you. Just the more zealous and odious factions of the fanbase who harass filmmakers/actors routinely. Those are the toxic fans hes referring to.I dont know if I want a director who talks about Toxic fans. To me, that just tells me he doesnt get it. I think most Marvel directors would agree that they love the fans. Comic book fans arent toxic. They just know what they want. Give them what they want, and theyll love you.
Peyton Reed wouldnt complain about toxic fans, because he is a fan.

Who could Clooney play in the MCU?
There are toxic fans. Lots of them. And beause fans comic book accuracy it doesn't mean IT THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE A COMIC BOOK MOVIE. Comics aren't the Bible.
By giving fans what they want means that as long there is accuracy the rest of the movie can go to hell in terms of quality. This mentality is way a portion of fans called Affleck the best Batman because of the warehouse fight.
They wanted a superficial kick-butter Batman like the Arkham games and they didn't give a damn about characterisation. They focused on that and the shallow "awe" of the fight and started making ridiculous statements.
Caving to fans is a dangerous path for great directors. Just because they have a certain movie already planned int heir heads it doesn't mean it's the only version that works.
