I think you're crazy if you believe that more people who attend a film that breaks $2 billion worldwide like Reed Richards and have started hating Magneto than like Sir Ian McKellan. Like I said, it would be trivial to keep his role in Wanda's life a mystery.

The problem is even IF they were fine filming a stinger revealing Magneto as Wanda’s dad, it won’t be Ian McKellan. No chance.

1. Ian is iconic but he’ll be 80 next year, they need to cast for the future and nobody wants a Magneto that can barely stand.

2. No chance on Earth they’d keep McKellan because it’d make the Fox movies canon in the MCU, which means that A. Disney and Feige would be obligated to adhere by the deaths, character butcherings and timeline shenanigans of previous movies from another studio and B. It’d create infinite plot holes. So mutants have been public knowledge since 73 but don’t get mentioned once as superpowered beings start shaping world events and the Sokovia Accords come into play?

Magneto’s almost definitely be some sort of notable casting to get people stoked, the “and” of the credits. If anything they’ll change the childhood war Erik was in to something more modern and avoid casting Jewish (just by virtue of how Iron Man’s origins were updated from Vietnam - at this point if we wanna accept Erik being a Holocaust survivor running around in the present day with a big purple helmet, we have to accept that he’s what, 90-100 years old?)

No, early 80s. There are famous dramatic actors McKellan's age who still solicit work: Sir Ian himself said he wants to play Gandalf for Amazon Prime's preque; series and Al Pacino asked Feige for an MCU role. And Christopher Plummer recently shot a role in Dunkirk despite being born in the 1920s!
He only needs to be old for one film. After saying goodbye to Charles at the end, he's not seen again until he and a follower who's a surgeon get ahold of a brainless clone bad guys made of him. Then he reappears as a young actor. They could even tie that into freeing X-23 from Hydra.

Mowgli Will Skip Theaters and Go Straight to Netflix

Netflix has found its newest blockbuster movie. Andy Serkis’ upcoming The Jungle Book remake, titled Mowgli, is going to skip the theaters and debut on the streaming service. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix acquired the rights for the adaptation from Warner Bros. studio.

Before the move, Warner Bros. was set to release Mowgli in theaters on October 19. Netflix is now saying the movie won’t premiere on its service until some time in 2019.

If the deal closes faster than what's its been initially been projected to close at(early 2019 is a rather rough estimate than a solid, sure, closing date) than Disney could pull the plug on those films. After all, many anticipated the DOJ would've taken longer to approve of the Disney/Fox merger than it actually did take and with the smooth pace the deal is going at to getting approve it would not surprise me if the merger closes by at least December(barring some issues with the deal's approval in the international markets, of course).

How about a victim of South African apartheid? It is relatively recent, it is well-known by pretty much everyone (at least in the west), and unlike something like Palestine wouldn't be politically controversial.

There hasn't been any event since the 1940s on the magnitude of the Holocaust affecting people who'd be named Erik Lehnsherr or Max Eisenhardt.
The so-called Bosnian genocide had less than 8,400 murders, BTW. I recommend The Great Big Book of Horrible Things by Matthew White for a complete list of well-documented wars, revolutions and genocides that killed more than 1-2% as many people as the Holocaust. You're basically looking at Red Cambodia and Rwanda, which had a distinct lack of victims with Jewish or German names.

Imo, Erik's story was never about THE HOLOCAUST, it was about him being a victim of the cycle of fear, hate, and violence that is Mankind. And it didn't stop when the Nazis were defeated (who are still around btw) it still going to this day. I think making him a victim of crimes that most of the world DIDN'T CARE ABOUT and have nearly forgotten speaks volumes into what drives him and his cynical ideology. It could add even MORE layers to Erik's character.
