I really wish they wouldn't count civil war as part of the contract. He was in it for barely 20 minutes. I'm surprised marvel didn't at least secure a trilogy I hope that wasn't an oversight on their part. Someone will realise later crap we didn't secure him for a trilogy. Whoops.

WHAT? Didn't Holland sign a 6-movie contract?

'Spider-Man': Tom Holland Reveals How Many Marvel Films He's Signed For
In this week's The Hollywood Reporter cover story, Holland says he's on board for three Spider-Man solo movies and three appearances as the web slinger in other Marvel Cinematic films. So far, he's already shot two of those films — this summer's Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

"They give you options and those could be exercised whenever. Like a cameo in Avengers," Holland says of Marvel. "I'm unclear as to which movies though. I do know I have three Spider-Man [appearances in other] movies and three solo movies contracted. But if you have another movie, Marvel is so good at working around it. They’re very respectful of your life, really. They understand that you have to work on other movies, and they try and fix it up so you can work around each other."

Yea I remember seeing that article and being confused. Well just have to wait and see really. There's been a lot of mixed messages around whether its 5 films or 6.

Isn't that the exact same thing I see people constantly complain about in the Netflix/TV Shows? That they want to see the characters using their powers, not stripped down without them? Heck, Iron Man 3 got those complaints too.

I haven't seen that. It doesn't bother me though if they do. I think it depends on the context. It would serve the story, otherwise you couldn't cover the Rogue/Carol conflict which I think would offer something different to the first movie.

*Fake* Spoiler alert: The plot of Captain Marvel 2

*fake* review: We still can't choose which is the worst Cpt. Marvel costume.

I would hope that maybe they could get a character package from Sony to use in the MCU. Maybe they could get Norman, Jameson/Daily Bugle and Otto Octavius. Characters that are important to the MCU overall

I think it would be fun to see JJJ cameo in multiple mcu movies like he did in the Avengers cartoon giving colour commentary. I would still have J.K. Simmons back. Doesn't sound like he's busy elsewhere.

The 6th film is likely optional. The actual contract between Marvel and Sony ends after FFH....This is why Feige said Spidey's arc is completed in the second Spider-Man movie.

During an interview a few years back Marc Webb said JJJ was going to appear in amazing spider-man 3. I wonder who they would have cast.

I don't think there's a 6th movie in the contract at all, but if it's there and optional....it might as well not be there. They'll sit down and see if the deal is going to be renegotiated.

I like your idea!

And Simmons was the perfect JJJ.

He was so funny :funny:.

Marvel's mobile game Future Fight recently updated to include everyone's favorite superhero quartet. Check out the trailer now!

I gotta say Reed really looks pretty badass with a beard, and I really dig the costumes. I wouldn't mind if they use something similar to this for the MCU when the FF appear.

Yeah I really love the current costumes. Seeing them on 3d models and given textures makes me think a variation them would look great on film.

Plus, bearded Reed is best Reed.

I definitely wouldn't mind either, but with the FF having been given such a bad treatment on film so far, something tells me Marvel will really make an effort to go classic and traditional.

Even though production is, from what I read, already wrapped, I wonder if Marvel could do certain... "reshoots" between the time the deal closes and Endgame releases.

So... Aquaman will be the tenth superhero movie to cross the billion dollar mark at the box office. Wow. The success of superhero movies is really unpredictable.

Billion dollar club:
- Infinity War
- Avengers 1
- Age of Ultron
- Black Panther
- Incredibles 2
- Iron Man 3
- Civil War
- Dark Knigt Rises
- Dark Knight

I am honestly side-eying this Aquaman making a billion dollars at the box office thing. I just haven’t seen/felt the demand for that movie, but whatever.

Marvel’s Uncanny X-Men better make the club.

Audiences must have wanted a fun comicbooky movie they could take their families too and it generally doesn't suck or be too pretentious, whodathunkit.

Comic book movies tend to make more when you do something that hasn’t been done. Black Panther, Wonder Woman, Deadpool benefited from this. Aquaman being the first underwater superhero with great visuals and spectacle, and you can see why.

I like to compare it to the Fast and Furious franchise. When you think to hard none of it makes sense, but it’s so enjoyable that you just don’t care

Aquaman also came out at the right time. August-October is often a dry period for Blockbusters before the big November-December releases. Its why Venom did so well cause there was no competition. Aquaman also stood out visually compared to the competition in December. And had something unique to offer.

Thus cementing Batman V Superman* as the single biggest failure in CBM history. When two (or rather three) of the biggest icons in the history of mankind finally together on the silver screen can’t even get past the $900m mark and the film about one of the most mocked superheroes ever passes the $1b mark in less than a month, that goes beyond being simply embarrassing.

*Justice League is also a contender but that’s basically Batman v Superman Pt. 2 afaic.

Holland needs to be given at least two more solo outings. His Spidey is too good just to be wasted. Plus him leaving without any interaction with the inevitable Fantastic Four would be tragic.

Marvel literally wastes no time in getting the fox film owned characters back into the fray

The level of pettiness over the years between the former rivals has been astounding, but I’m glad they can finally stop pretending that the X-Men and F4 don’t exist with this deal.
