That leaves China and Europe. Could this deal get done before next year? Sure seems like it

The Venom movie is not going to be in the MCU (no matter how successful it is) because it wasn't produced by Marvel Studios, and was the brain child of Avi Arad (who left Marvel and doesn't seem to be on good terms with Kevin Feige). Marvel would rather control their own universe rather than integrating other movies created by other studios into it. They'd rather have their own X-Men and their own Fantastic Four and their own Spider-Man, where they have control over their stories.

I definitely agree that Marvel would in all likelihood create their own version of Venom when- yes, when- he comes to the MCU, but on the off chance that they decide to, I definitely think they can vastly improve this "turd in the wind".

Good news

Good news indeed! Very confident this never sees the light of day.

Take this with a grain of salt as I am not familiar with the source, but apparently Brazil has approved the deal. The link takes you to a Brazilian .gov site.

Manalo LLP - Deal timeline of Twenty-First Century Fox/Comcast

Those will keep coming and it's a non issue.

This is definitely an exciting development, but I find it a bit suspicious that it doesn't mention the India approval....

Never was a fan of the whole Channing Tatum/Gambit casting.
If they were to ever race bend any two characters, it should be Gambit or Rogue. New Orleans is the Chocolate City after all.

There are specific referenced documents if anybody really wants to investigate. I'll just assume Brazil is probably done.:funny:

Fox movies we know for sure that will be released in some way or another regardless if the deal goes through or not:

Dark Phoenix - I would say this film is DOA but even if the deal closes in time enough for Marvel to take control I still don’t see Disney shelving it completely. Whether it’s in theaters or on the streaming service Dark Phoenix will come out.

New Mutants - This has a much better chance of not seeing a theatrical release than Dark Phoenix. But it will likely be dumped on Hulu or whatever. Instead of shelved entirely.

Fox Marvel that are in development movies that are likely to be scrapped entirely:

Solo Doctor Doom film.

A Dark Phoenix sequel.

Gambit — duh, hasn’t this movie lost like three directors at this point? It’s pretty much as good as dead even if Fox never explicitly confirms that they’re shelving the project before the deal closes.

The Kitty Pryde film

Any New Mutants sequel.

The James Franco Mutiple Man film(it was never going to happen especially after the allegations).

Fox movies that are in development that might come out even after the looming Disney deal completes:

X-Force or Deadpool 3- Disney/Marvel will likely take the “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach with the Merc-With-The-Mouth and leave the Deadpool franchise as is. Unlike Fantastic Four & X-Men they won’t reboot, and I think Feige would be interested in X-Force and be open to working with Ryan Reynolds on figuring out where he wants to go next. Maybe X-force merges with Deadpool 3 and that becomes the basis for a third DP film.

New Mutants is still a bummer. Had a lot of promise.

I forgot that kid-centric Incredibles styled Fantastic Four film that focuses on Valerie and Franklin, lol.

I was never a fan of using the New Mutants property as a vehicle for a generic hospital horror movie. That first teaser is completely unrecognizable as New Mutants. And the Demon Bear saga does not epitomize the entire franchise. What they should have done was do a John Hughes type movie ala Stranger Things.

Funny enough, Stranger Things actor Charlie Heaton is one of the New Mutants castmembers.lol.

it wouldnt surprise me if Iger wants it done by xmas. Disney and Fox official timeline maybe early next year but personally he may want it wrapped by xmas. I wonder if they have Avengers 4 scripts with xmen and f4 just like civil war and spidey as a just in case the deal closes by xmas and they do reshoots in January.

I wouldn’t count on it. In Spider-Man’s case, a deal was reached months before principal photography on Civil War even started ; Avengers 4 has already been mostly shot. And even if the deal was completed by December Avengers 4 will already have done the reshoots by then and the film be in the final editing process from that point on until it’s locked. At best, if you’re lucky, you might get a reference to Latveria that’s ADR’d in post-production or some other some line that teases the formerly(at that point in time) Fox-licensed characters. But we’re definitely not at the point where you can have Wolverine making a cameo in that film or something even if the deal is approved by December.

And I would like Marvel to introduce the Fox-licensed characters gradually and take their time to get it right and not feel like a last-minute rush job.

Not a great comparison. That was a doable thing with actors already cast in the roles years ago. All the main Avengers actors were available and it was a relatively inexpensive thing to do.

That’s very different than a hypothetical CGI-heavy post-credit sequence with Silver Surfer and Galactus that it alone could take months to complete(they would presumably be working with thousands of VFX shots) And what of a Wolverine cameo? That role alone would take months to cast(look at how it long it took for them to find Tom Holland) and I suspect the Russo’s and Marvel would rather put all their energy on finishing Avengers 4 than go through all the trouble of finding an actor to play a character they just got the rights back to. for a 50-second cameo. They have a 200+ million dollar movie to finish for petes sake. They have their hands full. Which is why I don’t expect anything relating to FF & X-Men in Avengers 4 even if the deal closes as soon as December. Making Avengers 4 alone is such a herculean task by itself that I don’t see the need for the extra headache just to tease the Fox-licensed characters. I think whatever happens with Avengers 4(whatever its called) will be the stuff that was planned to happen prior to Fox deal existing.

I know as fans we often get excited about the possibilities this deal can bring so much so we gloss over the realities of filmmaking and the time/effort it would take to achieve even the most paltry of things.

The FF and the Mutants are coming to the MCU eventually. After all these years, we have 100% confirmation but let’s not rush it.

I’m happy to wait for X-Men and F4 until Phase 4 onwards.

I don't think it needs to be much, a silver blur or a Galactus shaped shadow, or a mention of "The Herald" or "The devourer of worlds" or a mention of Reed Richards or Latveria or Victor Von Doom, or Mutants or Charles Xavier etc. etc. etc.

And with everybody involved knowing the situation, some "alternate dialogue" may have already been recorded. I think it's very possible that we could get something in any films that are being released a few weeks after the deal closes.

Lol I honestly think avengers 4 has some mutant /ff stuff in it. But hey that’s just me. I think they are keeping this movie so secret is cause they are putting in little things that will get people pumped for phase 4. The ff and xmen are making a comeback at marvel and I think it’s no coincidence but hey I could be wrong. All wrong. Just wishful thinking but I’m hoping this is the case

As one hypothetical, Feige and the Russos could have, months ago, filmed a scene with some Watchers. The primary scene could have had them mentioning some things related to upcoming films that are on the schedule. But while they were at it, they could have filmed some scenes with them referencing things that would relate to future potential films featuring the FF and/or X-Men (that Feige likely knows he will start working on as soon as the rights are finalized).

No Fox lawyers would have burst into the sound-stage with Cease and Desist orders if they did some alternate takes, and those scenes could exist somewhere right now. And which specific dialogue is included on the final edit could simply depend on the status a few weeks before release.

Anyone remember these rumors of a f4 reboot last summer?

New Kid-Friendly Fantastic Four Film Reboot Reportedly In The Works

These rumors were summer last year and went quiet around the time Iger made his move on Fox and suggested the idea of the merger to Murdoch.
Yeah, I neglected to mention that in a previous post pointing out the fate of the remaining Fox movies in development after the deal goes through. lol.

Though I didn’t know Iger made a move for Fox around that time. The more you know!

Apart from DP and NM, all of the "in development" Faux-Marvel movies that have been announced in the last few months have the air of last-ditch money grabs on the part of well-connected producers. Everyone working with Fox knows damned well that these projects they're pretending to start now are going nowhere because of the Disney acquisition. All of these producers/directors/writers are getting paid out for the work they're doing on these proposed movies until Disney takes ownership of Fox and shuts them down. It's a neat way of making easy money from a soon-to-be-defunct movie studio.

Stop asking for F4 and X-men references in Avengers 4 people. This is the last hurrah of the OG Avengers and the finale of an era. There is no need to shoehorn mutants and space explorers there because you lack patience. This a celebration and a send-off for people we grew up for the past 11 years.

The mutants will come WHEN ITS TIME.
