Early Captain Marvel reactions are overwhelmingly positive.
A lot of praise for Brie Larson and Ben Mendelsohn. Another great villain!

The one thing I hope the MCU gets right about X-Men is maintaining that fear that humans have with mutants. Keep the Avengers revered but let the public hate the X-Men and keep the whole narrative of protecting the world that hates and fears them. That is something the FOX-Men only got half right.

And if Kiki Layne isn’t Ororo, she’d make a great Riri Williams.
Riri is supposed to be a teenager, isn't she? Kiki is too old to play a teenager.

I think Reed is the easiest to cast race blind without causing too much ruckus. Ben is going to be iffy because of his Jewish heritage.

There is absolutely no difficulty in recasting the Storms to any race you want. . . *as long as its the same race*. The issue with Fant4stic wasn't making Johnny black, it was making Johnny black while keeping his sister an Aryan poster child.

Anyone else thinks it would be interesting if Tony Stark and Bolivar Trask teamed up and made the MCU Sentinels? Tony realizes it’s another mistake like Ultron but it’s too late.

That could plant the seeds for AvX.

Ugh, no, absolutely not. Tony has made enough mistakes as is, he doesn't need to make an even new, even worse moral error that puts Civil War to shame and also undoes his entire character arc.

Marvel can always say that Tony Stark invented the original android Human Torch, Howard Stark's flying car, the SHIELD helicarrier, the Infinity Gauntlet, Mjolnir, Nick Fury's eyepatch, Pym Particles and Vibranium.

Cloak and Dagger are not effected by this. Different deal. If they cancel it, it will be for other reasons

And the main reason Agents of SHIELD might be cancelled is that its finally run its course. By the ratings, it really should have been cancelled several seasons back, after all. Getting closed up after seven seasons is no failure.

It has already been renewed for a seventh season to air next summer. After Daredevil, AoS is easily the best thing Marvel TV has done.

Brazil's antitrust regulator will make a ruling on Disney's (NYSE:DIS) $71B deal to buy media assets from Twenty-First Century Fox (FOX, FOXA) next week, Bloomberg reports.

After a few delays, Cade is set to make a decision on the deal Feb. 27, its president Alexandre Barreto says.

A ruling was thought to come by the end of January before it was waved off. The regulator was still studying the case ahead of a March 17 deadline, one that could yet see another 90 days extension if needed.

Hoping this is where Igers "inconclusive" meeting with CADE earlier in the month pays off and Brazil approves it.

 Sounds promising. I can't imagine Disney is taking any chances at this point.

How does that sound promising? That's like a potential employer saying "We'll let you know our decision by next week" after a job interview where they might not plan on giving it to you at all. It doesn't really tell us anything either way.

Brazil can try to flex all they want, but this only ends one way.

Iger will defrost walt's frozen head if he has to. You see, brazil... the thing you fail to understand is.... When you wish upon a star... makes no difference who you are.... anything your heart desires..... will come to you. And by you, we mean Disney.

Wonder if theyll let Iger keep Fox sports or ask him to sell it.

I hope Brazil doesn’t block the deal. There’s too much at stake and we’ll lose so much if the deal gets blocked.

If the deal falls then hello Gambit and more Fox-Men! And of course Noah Hawley’s Doom film happens.

Disney have until December before the current agreement with Fox expires. Theyll just rework the deal until it gets approved or as a last resort divest Fox sports. There's basically no way it doesn't go through.

Nah. Disney knows exactly what's going on. They knew what they had to do to ensure approval and they did it. Cade is moving the date up because Disney asked them to. And Disney asked them to because they know what the decision will be.

It may not be official yet, but I'm willing to bet it's just a formality at this point.

Oh yea I agree. The seeking alpha article makes it clear CADE are well aware they already delayed the ruling a few times. Remember the original ruling was supposed to be in December before CADE raised antitrust concerns over the sports channels. So Disney will be expecting a decision especially after CADE meeting with Iger. They probably promised approval on feb 27th. which is why Disney hasn't moved the exchange offers and consent solicitations. Because they are expecting approval.

What happens if they rule against the Disney/Fox deal?
Iger sends Reynolds down to Deadpool them? Not kill, just visit them after hitting every chimichanga joint between where he is and there... then crashing their meeting while belching.

Ohhhh... new favorite way to announce the deal, end credit of Endgame, cut to Deadpool, stunned, who then whispers "Guess they got the memo on lazy writing... this is too convoluted to be lazy..."
