Hell, Kevin Feige got his start as a film producer on those x-men movies. You gotta imagine he feels the pressure to live up to some of the stuff they were able to do with the characters. And I hope he delivers.

Man, Ryan Reynolds really played this thing masterfully. Sure there was a lot of stuff that just happened by pure luck, but when you stand back and see the whole picture, it’s pretty crazy.

Pretty much a dead career in the early 2010s with flops like GL, leaked that test footage back in 2014, finally got his comic accurate R rated Deadpool movie made and released in 2016 to rousing critical and financial success, made an even more successful sequel in 2018 and now he’s about to join an even bigger universe. Talk about a good parlay, lol.

Feige will want to redeem himself after this. He executive produced rise of the silver surfer
Feige had very little say on how those movies were made. He did not have anywhere near the control as he does now with Marvel Studios( Its telling they list him as an executive producer along with with the late great Stan Lee) and mostly ignored his many suggestions back then. He was on the very bottom on the producer totem pole with little say on the decisions made. When Marvel gets access to FF and X-Men he'll have full control and will be one of the primary creative powers on them.

This is what will happen to Kinberg as he tries to discuss further plans for X-Men sequels:

One thing those films got right was the dynamic between Johnny and Ben

There are definitely bits in the Story films that I like. The 2015 movie gave me a small appreciation for those films.

I remember being freaked out by rogue almost killing that dude she was making out with at the beginning. And anytime mystique was on screen in general. Sabertooth scared me too, lol.

And then I got hungry for cheese doodles when Logan gave her the bag of them from his glove compartment because that’s all he had to eat in his truck. Like who remembers that kind of minor detail from a movie for all these years? Haha
The final scene with Rogue and Wolverine made me both scared and tear up. I specifically remember embracing my mom when Logan passed out. :waa: I had the exact opposite reaction to Mystique, uhhh. I thought she was hot. Argh, man, I was obsessed with that movie when it came out. I don't think I had ever been that excited for a movie again until the first Avengers film 12 years later.

My dad was super excited for it too. He grew up with a lot of the classic X-Men stuff. He was blown away by the movie when it came out. And really, it came out at the perfect time, when VFX had reached a point where X-Men could look believable on the big screen. It wouldn't have worked had it come out 6 years earlier.

Honestly, I'll never fault Singer for putting the X-Men in black leather for the first movie - because really, the X-Men had to adapt to an environment where people were hostile to the mere notion of a comic book movie after Batman & Robin. I understand why he made all of the choices with the aesthetic. But that's definitely not an excuse neither he nor Fox could use post-2007.

X2, Days of Future Past and Logan are among my favorite CBM of all time and so I have appreciation for fox for that. I always did and still find X1 underrated!

They also gave me this during my childhood and it still means so much to me. My love for X-Men started with this

I remember being on vacation in Chicago when I saw X-men. We were mistakenly told the wrong theatre number so we walked in and the movie was already in it's third act. The first thing I heard was Wolverine to Magneto: "You're so full of ****. If you're really so righteous, it'd be you in that thing." We quickly left that theatre so we can wait for our showtime.

I remember paying for my comic books at Golden Age Collectables in downtown Vancouver and in walks this girl with a white stripe on her hair and gapped-front teeth. Then I saw her face. It's Anna Paquin and she's on a break from filming X2. I get her to sign the comic book I just bought, X-treme X-men 17 with Rogue on the cover. (She later mentions me on an interview).

Years later I remember seeing a black gentleman on a skytrain platform, waiting for a train. I recognize him as one of the blink-or-you'll-miss it background extras at the museum scene at the beginning of X2.

I remember going downtown to watch them filming X-men: The Last Stand. It's the scene where Ben Foster, Angel, jumps out San Francisco's Transamerica Pyramid Building. This one shot at Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre.

I remember standing on Dunsmuir Viaduct watching across the "bridge" while they're filming Deadpool on the Georgia Viaduct. I remember seeing a taller-than-normal fella with a grey and black CGI suit on. I remember hearing on the PA system of the set, a voice relaying some directions to the cast and crew and I remember distinctly hearing "and then Colossus goes." I remember talking pics of this tall fella and then tweeting it out. I remember this was the first "confirmation" that Colossus was in this movie.

I remember traveling to Montreal, because I was invited to a set visit to X-men: Apocalypse. I remember seeing Kodi and Ben on wires to shoot their fight scene above "Egypt." I remember being stressed out.

I remember running into this lady with a red cloth over her head during Taiwan Fest on a sunny Vancouver afternoon. I remember my brother asking me: "Isn't that Zazie?" Why yes it was Domino, on a break from filming Deadpool 2.

I remember speaking out my dissatisfaction with Kinberg being hired to direct Dark Phoenix and being told by his fans that I should stop posting on the X-men boards because I was clearly not a fan.

Yup clearly.

That is awesome. Except for the last part, of course. A lot of good memories though

Wow, man. That's amazing! Except the Kinberg part of course

I still wonder what would have happened if f4 2015 was a success. I remember they had plans to crossover that cast with the X-men. Wont lie i was exicted about that at one point. But then the movie flopped and well the rest is history

Original trilogy suits are a guilty pleasure of mine. I was disappointed that they weren't like the comics but for some scenes I was like "they(characters) look pretty badass!"

First Class went more traditional and closer to the comics and so that was cool too

Here's Anna Paquin thinking I accosted her at a comic book store:
STANFORD: Didn't you get accosted outside a comic book store?

PAQUIN: Yeah, actually, I was with a friend of mine and we were buying like a Star Trek thing, because she wanted to get it signed by Patrick Stewart. So we actually had to go into the comic-book store. I thought it'd totally be fine, walk in, buy the Star Trek thing...

STANFORD: And you had the white stripe in your hair.

PAQUIN: I had the white stripe. Big mistake. Big mistake. Huge. Because I did get followed around the comic-book store and kind of refrained from leaving for about half an hour, which totally fine but I didn't realize quite how ... you forget about it for months and months and months and then you go into a situation where there happens to be someone who's really into the movie or the comic books. It's interesting. It's very news for me.
I forgot to mention she was with her friend when she walked in.
I mean she very well could be talking about another fan, after I had left the store. But I'd like to think she was talking about me. LOL

I also think it's ridiculous that she thought someone would be waiting for her outside.

Who first for our next target, gang? Spidey, or Hulk, as it seems that the issue with Namor was the mutant one, and Joe Q jumped the gun when they got the rights back from Universal.

I don't remember the first time I watched X1. But I'll probably feel like a 10 year old watching the first MCU X-Men.
