And they haven't used Rogue since 2014 and Rogue had a 3 second role in that movie. The Rogue Cut doesn't count.

Its obvious Kinberg wants to use the popular ones, nevermind the ones that should be used/developed for the X-Men films. If the Mcu X-Men reboot was handed to him, expect it to be a Xavier/Magneto show with Black Panther/Iron Man.

Well...there is one Avenger I wouldn't mind seeing in an X-Men film. Has the initials WM.

Are you thinking of one of Marvel's all time best buddy teams?

There's always a tiny tiny chance that Feige decides not to reboot. Very unlikely. But it could happen. That being said I think Eternals will be the MCU's first foray into exploring mutants just check out this plot synopsis from Variety.

Details about the movie and what character Jolie would play are being kept under wraps. Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, the story of “The Eternals” is set millions of years ago when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans to create super-powered individuals known as the Eternals along with the villainous Deviants.

That screams mutant origin to me especially the part about the Celestials experimenting on humans.

I guess those are fair points. Kinberg is getting the rug pulled out from his under his feet on all of these projects and he seems to be finally waking up to it. He's gone from "It will" to "I hope"

Maybe it was Kinberg's idea to have New Mutants set in a mental hospital as some kind of meta joke or something....
According to slugzilla, the one in The New Mutants section who gave us scoops, the original idea was closer to the comics, even featured the Sentinels and the X-Mansion, it had a fun and adventure feel and it was gonna cost at least a hundred million. Then Boone came and turned it into something else and they just let him since it was gonna lead to a cheaper film.

Then when the film was finished, Kinberg didn't like the product. Then why he approved it in the 1st place? Its just a series of misguided direction and Kinberg is just bad handling these different films.

Sophie Turner on Working with Disgraced X-Men Director Bryan Singer: "It was unpleasant."

Of course, Sansa Stark isn't alone in her sentiment. These sentiments have been echoed by many actors who've worked with Singer on his sets so its not so surprising Bryan Singer is notoriously a very frustrating director for actors to work with. After all, the reason Singer was fired(the biggest reason anyway) from Bohemian Rhapsody was due to Singer's constant absences on the set as well as clashing with lead actor. Singer's absences weren't limited to that Queen biopic that got Eliot Anderson an Oscar but going far back to the X-Men films according to Professor Xavier and Jean Luc Picard (for you trekkies) himself Sir Patrick Stewart who spoke out on the allegations of his former director.

Jennifer Lawrence who plays the Mystique hinted that the Simon Kinberg directed Dark Phoenix set was much more relaxed with 'little chaos' in comparison to the Singer-directed Apocalypse.

The whole motivation for the Gambit movie was Channing, not the character. Same thing with Multiple Man, when the allegations for james franco came out, suddenly we didn't hear more news about it. They just don't have the right motivations for these films and the direction of the series...I don't think there's any. They would have continued to make movies as long as they make a profit. Nevermind overlapping characters and a continuity that doesn't make sense.

I'm just glad we'll stop hearing about Fox announcing all these random ass X-movies in development that never happen.

It's a miracle Deadpool actually got made.
Fox had to announce all these random ass movies or Kinberg wouldn’t have a job. I feel Simon knew unless he got Gambit or some of these other projects greenlit he’d have no place in a Kevin Feige led world.

He reminds me of Avi Arad who’s only making Spider-Man adjacent films because Feige won’t let him steal $$$ in MCU Spider-Man.

Both want that forever EP credit

The last two pages in this thread were hilarious. I think Simon Kinberg needs to be banned from ever picking up a comic book again. Imagine if he was the Kevin Feige of the DCEU. o_O

And The Eternals just got my attention with Angelina Jolie in the running for a role.

I still think she’d make a better Lilandra or Deathbird though.

I think we'll be hearing these announcements from Kinberg for quite a while still. Expect a tweet on how he can't wait to return to direct the sequel to Dark Phoenix.

And don’t forget Multiple Man!

I wanted her for Karla Sofen in a Captain Marvel sequel.

Kinberg is Multiple Mess-Ups Man.

I wanted her for Karla Sofen in a Captain Marvel sequel.

They could always get Charlize Theron for that role. Especially since Moonstone is blonde anyway.

I'd love to get Heather Graham in an MCU role. She looks amazing for her age too.

Charlize gotta be MCU Raven Darkholme. Her or the very least Sarah Paulson.

Or hell Sarah Paulson could be Destiny.

After having JLaw as Mystique for so long, I think they need to get someone far less prominent this time round who won't dominate the movie and the role.

That's the thing, you ration the character out. Don't put her in Magneto/Xavier's stratosphere, treat her as she was in the comics. Keep her in X-Men segments with Rogue, a Captain Marvel sequel, maybe some flashbacks in a Sabretooth/Wolverine project, things like that.

That would fit Charlize's schedule anyway, to only pop up here and there.

The MCU is not star-driven as the Fox-verse was. Glenn Close, Bobby Cannavale, Angela Basset, Anthony Hopkins, are high profile and didn't dominate the movies.

Mystique is a different type of character, and one of the most important Marvel female villains. The MCU lacks female villains and Raven could be a big, recurring one (which doesn't mean doing what FOX did).

Mystique should be benched for a few films. Not only is she over-exposed, she's also not an X-Man. The reboot needs to concentrate on the team instead of giving most of the attention to villains.
