Jeremy Slater the writer of the 2015 f4 movie has apologised for the movie lol.

From what I remember the initial script for that film actually sounded really interesting and like a true Fantastic Four film, though a lot of stuff was crammed in so it's tough to tell if it would have actually turned out great or not. If you look up what the original script was about, you'd think it was pretty good, at the very least written by someone who really like the F4. It was when Trank came aboard that it became much "darker" and supposedly to focus on "body horror", then when filming started Fox cut three action scenes and made a bunch of other changes.

Just another case of a writer doing a great job only for everyone else to mess it up.

In case folks are curious.

Ah, the defenders of Fan4stic.

I can’t remember which CBM board said this, but one defender even claimed that for those concerned even when we brought up legitimate concerns that it was inconsequential, and even stated we were “the mouse that roared”.

Damn, thinking back and being where we are now after what had happened before, that is just freaking delicious.

What a shame for the guy.

That script in its initial form still sounds like crap and still makes some of the worst errors of the Fant4stic film. It still has Sue staying behind effort while the others, including Doom go off on a mission. It still has Ben Grimm turned into a weapon and other similarities.

It's not just the finished product but the script that is at fault.

Looks like xforce is still happening.

Yeah. It at least had some elements that would have been more interesting, but it was still way off. Fox should have shredded it and started fresh, but they’re Fox.

I hope X-Force eventually gets made with Reynolds and the Deadpool crew in charge. It's too fun a concept to pass up (plus it will make a boatload of cash).

Meh. DP 2 was disappointing as hell so i'm not looking forward to this. They need to change things up.

You thought so?

I thought it was the most X-Meniest movie we got in years. Aside from Yukio, it was pretty comic book faithful.

I thought The first Deadpool was better, but I still enjoyed the second one.

I definitely preferred the first, although Cable and Domino were good additions. Wasn’t too interested in the kid or his story.

And since when does "comic book faithful" mean good? If we adapt most 90s comics faithfully will they suddenly be good?

DP 2 had a non-existent story, cardboard stereotypical characters, dodgy CGI and recycled jokes or at least jokes that didn't land as much as the first. Oh and they fridgded Vanessa one of the 3 good characters they had in the first.

It was more Deadpool-y.
Who's the other 2?

Props to Tim Miller, but David Leitch was an upgrade in every possible sense outside of recycling those few jokes & the CGI.
Most fun I had with a cbm this year.

It's by far the worse cbm i have watched this year and everyone i saw it with kinda agrees. Zero plot and zero investement in the kid and his reltionship with Wade which was supposed to be the core of the story.

The core was Deadpool finding twisted purposes in life to make up for his girlfriend getting into that situation. A very Deadpool story.
The kid was a means to a bombastic thrilling end.

Artist Alexander Lozano just revelead that Tim Miller wanted the FF to appear in Deadpool 2.

The Thing looks good. The others, not so much.

Those costumes look bland and boring.

That Thing design is in the right direction, but completely different to the 2015 film. It would have been really random to go from that design to this one.

Those costumes look bad, and it looks like they were going to use the Fan4stic versions. No wonder Reynolds got rid of Miller.

Though funny enough originally the Deadpool writers considered having Chris Evans cameo as the human Torch at one point. It wasn’t going playing the Torch in the film just that he was going be the actor Chris Evans in the movie in his Fantastic Four costume trying out for the Deadpool’s X-force recruitment interviews.

You still haven't explained to me how this was good apart from it being"Deadpooly". I don't care if it was comic accurate or absurd. The story was whack.

Taking a bad Frank Miller story and making it "Frank Millery" doesn't add anything.

The majority of the Deadpool characters are stereotype so Reynolds can bounce off them and tell gags. From Weasel to Negasonic to Dopinder even Cable with his not so subtle Terminator homages. The characters work in this franchise is weak as hell.

If Fox was going to include F4 in Deadpool 2 doesn't that prove without a doubt they own the rights? Why would constantin ever go for that? It clearly got far enough to get concept art so they were serious and Its based on miles teller.

The Thing design is way better than Fant4stic. The costumes are better than Fant4stic (not saying much), but still goofy.

And I'm still pretty sure they wouldn't have been able to use them without Marvel's permission.
