Sonyverse is a thing. Guess everyone will have to accept it. Hopefully sony will think they can make enough movies there is no reason for spidey.

Don't be ridiculous. Now that Venom is a success, Sony has all the more reason to want to reclaim total control of Spider-Man. The second the Marvel deal ends, Rothman, Arad and Pascal are going to pull poor Tom Holland out of the MCU and into their s****y verse.

My main worry is the success of Venom might embolden Sony to use the integration of that version of that character into the MCU as a condition for renewing the contract between Marvel — a condition, by the way, that Marvel Studios would never agree to. That could be one of things that could make the talks of a deal renewal fall apart.
We have a bit of a risky situation with a good amount of money being made by Venom and the excessive dumbness of some current Sony execs. Just hope whatever happens is in the best interests of Spidey on screen. It's a shame Sony didn't have great talent themselves as they could then have worked with Marvel on MCU versions of everything.

Is he contracted to work for them? I don't know how that part of it works.

Why? They have morbius, silk, kraven, black cat and silver sable films lined up. Let marvel make spidey and take a nice hefty profit from it.

Eh, but that's the problem... Venom is a popular character, that's why his movie is making good money. All these other characters, on the other hand? No one is asking for a Kraven or a Morbius movie and I suspect not many people would show up to watch it.

I do think Silk has some potential, though... potential that I doubt Arad and Pascal will be able to exploit, but still.

I'm just going to hope that's not the case, until we're told it is. Enjoying MCU Spidey too much.
Same. But what if Sony tries to use Holland in their universe to confuse the general audience?

So I guess FFH is the end
Not necessarily. Venom’s success doesn’t automatically mean Sony has a established a cinematic universe that’s equal or at least as bankable as Marvel. What Venom’s success showed here was that people were interested in the character who’s always been greatly popular, coupled by the Marvel association( a lot of mainstream audiences don’t know it’s not in the same universe as Avengers).

We’ll see if the sequel(which is looking likely) will make as much. Remember the first Ghost Rider was also a success at the box office despite the poor critical reception which was then followed a commercial bomb with the sequel. I kind of expect the cursioty factor will have worn off by the time they make the sequel.

Holland would have to agree to that unless he is under contract with Sony to do more than the 5 he is doing for the MCU. They could just throw a lot of money at him I suppose . It's all rather disconcerting.

i wonder if far from home will end in a way that could be spideys end in the MCU or will still leave the door open in case contract renewal.

I mean don't get me wrong, I love this Tom Holland era of Spidey, but am I the only one who really is unbothered whether or not Spidey stays in the MCU?

For God's sake, we're getting the WHOLE cavalcade of mutants AND the Fantastic Four and their enemies back. How many times do we have to see Spidey woo Mary Jane or watch Gwen Stacy fall and bust her neck? Bring me my mutants!

I'm less concerned with Marvel not having Spidey than I'm concerned with Sony making a complete mess of things. I'd rather just not see any Spider-man related movies over the next 5 years than have a couple awful Rothman/Arad productions coming out every year.

If I actually thought Sony would do it right, I'd be looking forward to their films, but what we're getting looks pretty bad.

I'm more worried about how Marvel would handle Spidey's exit from the MCU if Sony decided to not renew their agreement. Would they go as far as killing him off?

Maybe he does die in Avengers 4 and Far From Home is a prequel. I've been saying Far From Home isn't a prequel based on the info that's been given to us from Pascal and Feige but it could all be one big misdirect.

We need a Spider-Man in the MCU. It won't feel right if he's on his way out as the XM and F4 are on their way in

I agree it sucks. But this is Sony. They wont give up until a Spider-Man movie makes literally no money which is impossible. Even amazing spider-man 2 made like $700 million and venom is making $$$ despite the bad reviews. It shows you how huge the Spider-Man brand is.

Marvel wouldn't want it either, as neither of those properties can touch his potential revenue. This is why I'm not sweating it in the least. People act like they have no leverage in the deal and just completely entered into a one-way contract with Sony. I'm sure they asked for provisions so Sony can't just leave after the fact.

I wonder if the reviews would have been as bad if Venom was in the MCU. From the reports I've read it looks like Sony did approach Marvel about Venom being in the MCU but Marvel said no and fair enough to given Sony's track record. But I wonder if Marvel is looking at the money its making and thinking damn maybe we should reconsider for the sequel? It wouldn't be that hard to integrate Venom to the MCU. Maybe Marvel should reconsider to renegotiate some deal where Marvel gets creative input on the venom sequels.

And even if Venom was in the MCU as it is with its average reviews. its still making $$$.And In the end money is more important than critic reviews. Venom could have made twice as much if it was in the MCU.

I've wondered if FFH is a meta reference to the status of Spider-Man like Homecoming was. Is it saying that he's not really home after all but still far from being where he belongs?

It could be that it could also be because a large chunk of the story takes place out side of queens/NYC and in London and around the globe etc. So hes Far From Home.

Yeah, we know the in-universe reason, just like the first one was set around the Homecoming dance. I'm talking about meta references and double meanings though.

They're continuing the "home" theme with this one, but they could also be continuing the meta references as well, like with the first one.

Clever bastards.

This might be unpopular. But looking at it now this deal marvel made with Sony wasn't that great and has probably delayed spider-man's actual return home by another 5 years at least (You can bet that Sony will try another trilogy with a new actor after Holland in the venom verse). Marvel should have waited for Sony to release amazing spider-man 3 and 4 as that cinematic universe crumbled they would have gotten desperate to sell of the rights.

I guess Feige thought well if it doesn't happen now then it might not happen ever so I can see why he made the deal when he did. But I think Marvel might have been a bit hasty and jumped in too soon to save Sony. They should have probably let the amazing universe sink even further and then jumped in. Once Sony saw the box office slip even further with amazing spider-man 3 and 4 they would have been more open to selling the full rights instead.
