I didn’t know anything about this TV Golden Compass adaptation though. Is it good?

I think they're still shooting the first season (or yet to start shooting). But it's already been renewed for a second season, which indicates at least they really trust this show to succeed.

Besides McAvoy, there's also Ruth Wilson and Dafne Keen in the cast.

Disney's earnings are expected to be down, but if that's true, they can temper that with some good news regarding closing on the Fox deal.

I expect there was pressure from high up to be able to have some good news for the call. That doesn't necessarily mean they got it, but I'll bet they've been trying to get things in position to announce an actual closing date.

I’ve worked with Lauren Shuler Donner. She a little crazy. LSD even says “Yes,” she said. “I don’t know what Kevin’s thinking honestly. I don’t even think Kevin knows.” So I wouldn’t take her opinion that Wolverine is first up that seriously.

I think all those FOX people are a little screwy. Kinberg still saying Dark Phoenix (in name only) is the next chapter for more X-Men, and Bendis still writing his Kitty Pryde fanfic.

I can appreciate Donner atleast being outright and saying these are all Disney’s toys now.

Glad to see they have Doom down as the number one anticipated villain to follow Thanos....Doom could and should be HUGE!!! Come on Marvel, Come on Feige, don't screw up Marvel's, dare I say, comicdom's ultimate villain!!!!

If they didn't think Doom was the premiere villain, then they'd have to be a real dummy!

when Marvel/Disney wants to use their characters, they always make sure we know it.
All these tv shows characters just wont be used again in the movies, sadly. I guess Feige and co. dont want to continue what others started. I dont agree with this approach, it shouldnt be like this, but..... hollywood is full of egos, sadly.

According to Telecommunications Law Institute (IDET) COFECE has okayed it. Might try to dig up the link later since flight about to take off.
It says the IFT still has to review it though.

Remember the earnings call is today guys. Lets hope for some good news.

I’m going to keep my expectations in check in regards to getting any big news on the deal closing. I think Iger will say something vague like, “the deal looks to be on track to close earlier than initially projected” without specifying an exact closing date because they have to err on the side of caution given that the Mouse doesn’t control how long it takes for governments in the markets the deal is getting a review to approve it. At best, Iger will probably grant us a revised projection for the closure of the deal that might be earlier than that SEC filing would indicate.

Fingers crossed for some big news today. But I’m prepared to be disappointed

Yea thinking about it, it might still be too early for a close date to be announced. Remember we all thought we were getting a close date back in November and Iger barely even mentioned the acquisition. Despite getting EU and China approval. They may not ever announce an exact date to be honest. There is too much risk especially if they miss that date. I hope Iger at least gives a month. It will close when it closes. All though a general within the next 2-3 months time frame would be nice.

They could make a specific non-specific statement such as: "We expect to announce a closing date within the next three weeks."

I think they have to make a more specific prediction than they have in the past because how soon they close this is critical to how well the business and their stock will perform in 2019. It's an elephant in the room that they can't just ignore when it comes to critical communication to shareholders.

They're are going to have some frustrated shareholders on their hands if they continue to couch things in very broad, general terms.

So should we really be expecting some sort of news today or is that simply hope and optimism speaking?

I feel like they have to say something. They barely mentioned it back in November. Despite making great progress in approvals So shareholders will be expecting some sort of update. Now would be the time to do so since everyone is expecting it to close within the next 2-3 months.

I don’t know... maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about, but I don’t feel like we even need to appeal to such things as “business” and “stock” and “shareholders”. That when we talk like this it’s sort of a “forest for the trees” situation. Never mind the shareholders- what about the 99% of the population outside of “the business”? People like (I’m assuming) you and me.

Let’s put it into terms that that 99% cares about- the movies (which I think is a fair comparison because they both involve behind-the-scenes work). Could you imagine the reaction if Marvel Studios/Disney said “We got an Avengers movie coming. You won’t know when it’s coming. We won’t even know when it’s coming. But it’s coming.”????

Disney+ will be demoed on April 11 but we already knew that but nice to have it confirmed again.

Disney is still waiting on regulatory approval from the "last few remaining markets" for Disney-Fox.

They're going to continue working with EA? That's just stupid.

Good to know. Deadpool is one character who definitely needs that in his solo films.
