I'm over the whole MCU MJ thing. It's dumb and sucks but I guess there was a reason for an original character and he nickname is whatever. We know for a fact this girl isn't Mary Jane or meant to be and so it's not that bad compared to a butchered established character . This character is her own and I doubt she'll constantly be exclusive called MJ

Marvel must have traded the rights of Danger Girl to Constantin for FF. It's the only plausible explanation.

Oh, I always knew she was MCU MJ, but I effectively judge her as a new character given she bears no resemblance to the MJ I am used to. So she effectively is a new character to me, even if she is called MJ. Which again, I am not saying is bad out of hand. I want to see her in FFH. Homecoming, she didn't do much to sway me either way. She was just...in the movie. I want to see how she is handled and evolves.

Guys, Zendeya's character is essentially the MCU equivalent to the Mary Jane Watson character from the comics. Sure she's an original character who bears little resemblance to the comic Mary Jane, but that doesn't mean she isn't meant to fill her shoes as Peter's one true love and fulfill a similar role that she had in the comics.

Peter explicitly calls her 'MJ' in Far From Home for petes sakes - that alone implies she's the MCU version in essence.

The Homecoming writers explicitly said they meant for the character to be a 'reinvention' of Mary Jane Watson.

That's actually a great point. Dark Phoenix is a Disney movie now, they're not going to do anything that could hurt its box office.

They're going to at least try to recoup as much as they can out of that film. If they can somehow get $500M out of that film, it'd be a win.

I cant imagine what some of you early 2000s members must be feeling right now. Putting up with the Fox X-Men for nearly 2 decades. Granted they gave us a few gems First Class, DOFP, Logan. But for the most part most of it was disappointing.

But still focused on the remaining goals:

Getting full Hulk and Namor rights back.
Breaking Sony's hold on Spidey
flushing Perlmutters influence from Marvel TV, or anything Marvel related
and last, but certainly not least

I hate to be a debbie downer but that might be our Empire Strikes Back right there. After the victory of blowing up the Death Star known as Fox's control of X-Men and Fantastic Four now we might get our arm's cut off(not literally obviously) when Sony pulls out Spider-Man out of the MCU.

Our Return Of Jedi is Comcast/Universal redeeming themselves and giving up the remaining Marvel distribution/theme parks rights in exchange for something.

The comics are often too Reed focused. He's the leader, the genius, the one who decides everything the team does, and most of the villains only care about him. The other three members are often treated like a supporting cast to a Reed book.

The films need to make the members more equal. They particularity seem to not know what to do with Sue, they try to make her a scientist but it never works because she can't be as competent as Reed. Having her be the leader solves that as Reed will still be the genius who makes all the toys and explains the complex science stuff. It solves the imbalance.

Plus it further differentiates the film from the Fox predecessors as well as fits Marvel's goal of having better representation of their female characters.

Well it has been an incredible day....still feels unreal to me....will live off of this for a few days for sure...now all kinds of speculation can really begin about what comes next...who will be mentioned first? who will be seen first? does anyone think we will start hearing places first? Latveria? Baxter Building? or perhaps hear the word "mutant" for the first time?
