I can't see them sitting on having Captain Marvel and Black Panther together for very long. Lot of money on the table there.

Like I said, they are the new leads of the Avengers. They will continue to make Avengers every 3 years and have the stars of the ongoing solo films appear in it. Though I'm not sure about Shang Chi joining the Avengers in A5, while I can see the Eternals meeting the Avengers similar to how gotg met the Avengers in A3 but not in A5 but in A6.

Aveng5rs will obviously be a smaller film than Avengers 3/4 but having Captain Marvel/Black Panther/Spider-Man/Dr. Strange/Ant-Man without the big three would be refreshing and interesting to see, and I seriously doubt we would wait 5 years for that. I also think Black Widow would sit out for the next Avengers film and she'll just be featured in her solo movies. I'm not sure about Hulk. Is he gonna be the only character to appear in Avengers 1 to 5 in a non cameo role?

I really hope Disney gets their video games sorted out. EA has completely botched Star Wars as well.
I think the problem is the developers prefer creating games for their own ips instead for a licensed property. So sadly, not everyone is really gonna get a Spider-Man 2018 treatment and developers are more interested in a game in which all the big names are in the game, so the next game would likely be be another Mua type of game.

If Carol Danvers can lead a movie that rakes in inevitably a billion dollars, so can the Fantastic Four.

After all Reed Richards is elastic.
Sue can fade from sight.
Johnny is the Human Torch.
And well the Thing just loves to fight.

Just call the 4!

I’ve been drinking guys. Excuse me lol.

I loved that cartoon, cheese and all. :p

Avengers IP, Assemble: the wild, circuitous path to Marvel getting its own brands back

Marvel Wants to Flex Its Own Heroic Muscles as a Moviemaker

Maisel managed to raise $525 million — a majority from Merrill Lynch, with additional support from Paramount and Universal in exchange for distribution rights — to make 10 films, capped at a budget of $165 million each with a PG-13 requirement, based on what were then considered “second-tier superheroes, who may not resonate with younger moviegoers.”

Paramount Pictures will market and distribute the movies, for a fee. (Universal Pictures, which made 2003’s “Hulk” by the director Ang Lee but sold back the rights to Marvel after its poor box-office performance, will handle that sequel.)

The financial model seems unusually favorable. Because most of the financing raised by Merrill Lynch (the $465 million revolving credit facility) is insured by Ambac Assurance, Marvel is not liable to repay its senior creditors if the movies tank. The Ambac deal uses the comic characters as collateral and thus requires no capital outlay by Marvel.

That's the first time I've seen this. If that report is correct than the original 525MM, 465MM coming from Merril Lynch and 60MM coming from Universal and Paramount. That helps untangle some of the Hulk rights and confirms it's in perpetuity. Disney bought the distribution rights Paramount owned for 115MM + 9% of the BO gross of Iron Man 3 IIRC. Assuming they paid 30MM it's quite a nice ROI. Disney could (and probably did) offer Universal a similar deal, but they probably said no. Only way those rights are coming back is if Disney buys Comcast out of their 30% of Hulu and gets the Marvel rights thrown into the equation.

Why is that second article from 2007 there?

Much as I'd like a Hulk solo I can't see Disney giving Comcast anything to get those distribution rights back. They have got around that in 4 (soon to be 5) films so far, so they simply don't need to.

I'm curious how it works regarding side characters (Doc Sampson, Leader, Abomination etc.). I don't mind if they throw other characters in with Hulk so it's not a "solo film", but since TIH, we haven't seen any of the other characters, and I don't know if that's because Marvel can't or chooses not to use those characters.

Right, it would have to be tacked on with a Hulu equity purchase or some other deal, i.e. if they do the theme park rights separately (however the theme park rights Comcast own is also limited and not worth that much to Disney). Comcast only really has 30% of Hulu that is of major value for Disney to acquire, the rest is something that a real estate agent or car salesman throws in if you buy a house or a car with them.

It's very akin to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, but with even less value to Disney because they can use the character as they please.

William Hurt’s Ross.

So what was Tom Holland's announcement? I saw he posted some new Far From Home posters. Was that it?

This morning all the text on this page were in purple.

It was all light green on my phone. I thought that maybe something went wrong with the site's code since every thread was that same, weird color. Glad to see we're back in black. ;)

Don't put that on your MySpace page!

Mod question. What happened to the little thumbnail pic of my avatar in the upper right corner that flagged me when I got a like or response to one of my messages? It's gone now. It dissappeared when I started seeing turqouise.

Apple announced a streaming service. They’re going to need a lot of content if they’re going to even have a chance of competing with Disney Plus and especially the king of streaming: Netflix.

Prediction: I think Apple will inevitably buy a movie studio with tons of IP but will it be Sony? Don’t think it makes any difference since the Sony Spider-Man rights(per the 2015 contract, if I remember correctly) are indeed transferable.

Hmm. But Apple and Disney have a good relationship so maybe if Sony did get bought by Apple even though the rights would not revert back to Marvel perhaps Apple will see to it that Sony maintains a partnership with Disney/Marvel for Spider-Man? What do you guys think?
