The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 9

As much as it seems too good to be true, I'm nearly completely convinced we'll be getting FF back where they belong soon enough.

The idea of Fox making another film within their short window seems beyond crazy.

Which just leaves it a question of how and when will the FF be re-introduced properly.

Agreed. If you know anything about how corporations/businesses are run, their main objective is for profit. Moving forward, Fantastic Four is not profitable for Fox. The only way for them to make profit is to sell them to Marvel for money or more character exchanges/favours such as TV rights etc.

For the biggest event in the MCU the culmination of a decade of work to end (or begin?) with the homecoming of Marvel's First Family would be appropriate, however, I would prefer that they would be either instrumental in the resolution of Avengers 4 or simply be the new super team in Phase 4.

I suppose the spoiler is that it seems imply that the Avengers don't stop him if he still has the stones in the sequel.

If they stopped him there would be no reason for Avengers 4 lol.

The possibilities are endless. Since the introduction of the cosmic and supernatural, Dormammu could even play a part in Avengers 4 for all we know.

Remember: Doctor Strange's world tends to mix with the rogue galleries of Silver Surfer and The Fantastic Four.

So, I've been thinking: what's the MCU going to be like when the Fox properties- both of them; Fantastic Four and X-Men- inevitably return to Marvel Studios?

There's been a lot of speculation on how the MCU is going to take now shape that some of the actors' contracts are ending, from exploring the cosmic corners of the MCU, to recastings, to simply retiring said characters for a bit... I'm probably forgetting some of the approaches they could take.

My point is this: isn't the whole point of this shared universe to have all of the "toys" in the same "sandbox"? My favorite aspect of the Marvel Universe is the gestalt of it: the dynamics and interplay and conflict that is created by these characters sharing the same space (as evidenced by the contrasting moralities of the Punisher and the titular hero in Daredevil season 2). Wouldn't Fiege et al. want to exploit this opportunity, and make sure all of these characters actually do share the same space? If the plan isn't to have all, or at least most, of the characters interact when that time does come, wouldn't this be pragmatically no better than having the properties isolated at separate studios?

Thoughts, anyone?

Anyway, to quote Stan the Man, 'nuff said!

I think Marvel has and will continue to mix and match characters as they did in the comics, and if done right, that will keep the films always feeling fresh.

I hope we'll be able to look forward to a day when we'll have a Human Torch/Spider-man film in February, a Dr. Strange/Ghost Rider film in April, a Hulk/Thing film in June, etc. etc. etc. and each of those films will feel unique and fresh because the personalities and capabilities of the characters and the interactions between those characters will create a completely different films with each grouping. And the possible combinations are nearly endless.

That's the eventual upside once Marvel gets all or most of their characters back. The unfortunate downside of the current situation is that without key, defining characters like Galactus, Doom and Reed Richards, the MCU will never feel like the Marvel Universe we all know from the comic books.

It's being reported on the site-that-shall-not-be-named that Zoe Saldana referred to the second film as "Gauntlet" - apparently revealing the title.

It seems to me that either that's not the final title or Feige was playing some games in claiming the title was a spoiler.

"Gauntlet" (or presumably "Infinity Gauntlet" as the full title) could hardly be considered a spoiler after Marvel has already shown this image:

What's that thing with the shiny lights he's holding? :o

Completely agree, Gary. Though I did have a slight initial doubt in my mind, I definitely trust that Marvel knows what they're doing. I definitely have a feeling that the day when all of these characters- all of them- is somewhat closer then we think. And when that day comes, the MCU will be not only more fresh, but most important, more complete.

The return of the **SPOILER** to Marvel from Fox is a pretty big deal. One could only hope that their planet eating friend will follow next.

If you're trying to hide a spoiler, you're not doing a very good job of it if you talk about a "planet eating friend" in the same breath. Anyone can guess immediately who you're talking about.

Might as well stop following this thread until I've seen the movie.

The Silver Surfer?

Ummm...they wasn't the spoiler. I gave no clue as to who it was. Relax.

The guy who's holding the shiny lights that no one can see? If you eat a planet, I would think you'd get constipated. That's what happened to me when I was at fatburger.

An odd thought just occurred to me. There used to be a place in Santa Cruz called "Polivio's". They had a hamburger they called "The Plug". I always thought that was pretty funny. They're closed now.

:lmao:

Will I ever get to an age at which poop ceases to be funny? Lord I hope not.

Hopefully individual members of the FF and X-Men can guest star in the MCU films based on various people. There can also be team-up films that can be branded under different names beyond the Avengers: for starters, the various event crossovers over the decades.

Would everyone be okay with Marvel getting all the film rights back, except for the X-Men characters?

Yep, very.

Think xmen are better off at fox. More films will be made each year and them being in the mcu would make it a bit crowded.

Nope. IMO the X-Men have reached their limit with Fox, and I want Marvel to have a go at it. I'd kill to have a Cyclops that invokes MCU Cap.

It might be interesting if the MCU's inevitable reboot spotlights the characters and IPs whose film rights were tied up in the past.

Given the success of Deadpool and Logan along with the critical success of Legion, I hardly think Marvel getting their mutant properties back in inevitable.

After watching GOTG vol 2, I'm pretty much convinced that Marvel has already brought FF back.

Would be pretty awesome when Thanos defeats the Avengers just like the vision in AOU and then FF shows up and saves the team, leading Avengers 4.

I would much rather see Marvel Studios continue to make movies about their lesser-known characters that they already hold the rights to. Not only are those heroes my favorites, but it's always a thrill to see Feige and his crew make new cultural icons out of characters that most fans and critics have dismissed. Making a Doctor Strange film a success takes far more creativity and finesse than churning out yet another x-men movie would. And frankly, I believe that the general audience is going to be more excited about new heroes than about retreads of long-running (and mostly mediocre) series.
