I find it highly unlikely that they're going to undermine the climax of Gwen's death with a basically meaningless fight between Pete and Alexei in the Rhino mech.
At this point, it makes little sense to me to have the Rhino fight take place after Gwen's death, assuming she dies of course. I'm again assuming that if Gwen does indeed die that her death will take place in a scene that is close to the end of the movie. By this I mean her death would be the climax of the film. Expected by some but not by all, her death will have a great emotional impact for the audience, myself included.
Now, it doesn't matter if it's a year or more by what the movie tells me or the audience has passed since her death, this is a very big event and will still only feel like just a few minutes to those watching the movie. I'm not sure how much time they'll devote to the resolution portion of the film post-climax but to have Spidey now cracking-wise and end the movie mid-attack against Rhino seems a bit couter-productive. Almost like they're robbing from the emotional tension-resolution from the impact of Gwen dying. IMO, and I greatly stress my opinion, to end the movie in this manner is lacking.
^ Ending the movie with that kind of a scene would be completely anticlimactic and would completely undermine the emotional impact of Gwen's death, which is why it's not going to happen.
if i remember right someone said spider-man calls him a grey hippopotamus or something like that
alright fine if you really want it to end with rhino and skipping over the mourning part of his first love dying so peter can just get back to his job
I'm assuming its Richard Parker who is looking at his watch.

Again, to have Gwen die at the end of the movie and then to have a non-related (to Gwen's death) battle scene would take so much away from that powerful moment. Makes much more sense to show Peter dealing with the loss (maybe at the funeral or grave) and then show his anger and resolve for revenge. And then fade to black. Leave the audience grieving at the loss of Gwen and feeling Peter's emotions.
It won't be one extended scene. Based on the storyboards, the armoured car chase is what causes Peter to be late for the graduation. There's nothing there about Rhino.
The actual Rhino battle will probably take place on a completely separate day. I think that is what causes Peter to come up with the lame excuse that he's be cleaning the chimney when Aunt May ask's him how he got so dirty. Besides, Max is wearing different clothes in the elevator scene and in the Alexei chase scene so those most likely do not happen at the same time.
it really depends how much time is spent grieving like are they gonna do the funeral then have the one on one with aunt may then next he puts the mask back on and goes to stop rhino
i mean they can't end the final battle half hour before the films ends so alot will have to be done in short time
Remember, the leaked storyboards included a tab saying "one year later" at the end. Aleksei has his big blowout in the beginning, then over a year later he returns as the Rhino. I think it works well thematically for what a big part of the character stands for. Too often do people define him by the huge amount of guilt he bears. Sure, it's a big part of who he is - but what really defines him is his never say die mentality. He will never quit because it's his responsibility not to. I think an ending like this would better show the character at his core than him sulking around.
