For a lot of us it did. What looks good is subjective, of course.
But the fact is there is no big outcry about the TDK suit. It's only the same complaints surfacing from the same little group of people who frequent this thread.
Personally I find most of the criticisms to be hyperbole.
Here's another that demonstrates even more wrapping.

And there's still even more room for further wrapping.
It'll get all the backlash when a new suit comes along and it's no longer the status quo appearance in a well-loved franchise. Just like the Begins suit.Numbers are meaningful when it comes to movies. Particularly regarding opinions. It was large numbers of negative opinions on Batman Returns being too dark that led us to Schumacher's more colorful Batman despite Returns being a financial success. Clearly the suit has been accepted by the fan base and the general public. Otherwise a noticeable backlash would have been seen, like with the shaky camera fight scenes from Begins or the bat voice in TDK.
The TDK suit gets no such backlash. It gets none at all. With the level of criticism some throw at it in here, you'd swear Nolan put nipples on the costume.
That's my point.

I don't know if it was just SHH or not. This is the only comic book movie forum I go to. But the Begins suit is now 'allowed' to be criticised. And the TDK suit will as well when we get another one.I never saw the Begins suit get a backlash.
Wait, was this backlash on SHH?
I'm not really going to join this debate because it's all a matter of taste, but I'm putting myself down as someone that was very bothered by the TDK suit. It didn't look good to me in most scenes. *shrugs*
Batman usually gets the most backlash if any for TDK. Mostly it's for the voice, but you know what I mean.Agreed.
Is it not possible the costume wasn't as harshly critiqued because the actual film was good. I'm sure it's a possibility.
We have no evidence either way. Nolan obviously likes Batman looking obviously armoured so they probably didn't explore that route. But we don't know.I was thinking...
To all of the people that have been whining incessantly about how they want a fabric suit with the plates or whatever underneath:
Do you really think they didn't try something like that out? Concept art, etc? They don't just jump to the final design straight away, right?
That's definitely the reason why it isn't a big issue for most people. But there's a time and a place for everything, and this is the time and the place for criticising the suit.Agreed.

I completely disagree. They look worse. Batman doesn't need them, they came from Superman's costume.
Yes, trunks are sillier than a cape. The cape, especially as Batman wears it in the comics (draped over his shoulders and body), breaks up his human outline, which greatly assists camouflage.
They would accept them, but I don't really need the trunks on film.
If you want to look like a bat for the purposes of using psychological warfare on your enemies, capes are not silly, they are necessary. Bats need wings.
No, they don't.
And there's a reason no one wears shorts over sweat pants while working out anymore; they realized they did nothing and they looked stupid.
I could care less about their practicality or purpose, they don't look good. They never did.
Could someone explain to me what is going on here? Why do these pictures exist where he is in full costume under harsh light? Is there any reason why these pictures where taken in such silly poses like a hand to the head and a fist out? No photoshop, no cool background, nothing. Why were these taken? Anyone know?
Are you positing that capes are silly?
Indeed I am. Capes are silly. When is the last time you saw a person wearing a cape on the street who wasn't on the way to a comic convention or a costume party or trick or treating?
The do look good and always have. That's why so many superheroes have had trunks for so long.
Yes, and basketball players wore shorts barely covering their testicles for a long time, too. Eventually the general population realized how silly it was. Times change... styles change... and underwear on the outside of a grown man's pants (superhero or not) just don't work anymore.
In a superhero movie.
The general audience will never take anyone wearing a cape seriously.
Which is strange, since that underwear will also be black so it seems you are contradicting yourself.I'd take a dude wearing a cape dressed in black beating the **** out of people seriously.
I'd laugh a little at a dude wearing a cape and his underwear on his outside, beating the **** out of people.
