I agree. I feel like the suit had so much going on, and the design was so busy and over-produced, a glimpse of it suddenly felt like abstract art. It was a diarrhea of material. And it made no practical sense. I look at it and I say to myself "Why is THAT there? What is THAT thing's function?" It's just a bunch of STUFF.

Seriously, what's with the legs? What the hell is that line going through his chest? What precisely is happening on his stomach? Why is the bat symbol connected to some contraption not affiliated with anything else on the chest? Why have a bat symbol at all?
To be fair, it was never really designed to be seen in such direct/bright light like in that pic. In the actual film, with their lighting and later timing, it worked more as a muscular-like texture, based on tactical armor. I was fine with how it looked on film, but I agree that during the interrogation, his head looked like a lightbulb.

is that a statuette in that pic?

I like the idea of white eyes but not glowing bulging lenses, that HT toy is incredible though.

>my face when people havent read a comic book in their life and are therefore fine with robotic batman walking around under bright lights because Nolan says so.

That's a pretty wide net your casting. Aside from the cowl, which admittedly looked ridiculous, I had no issue with the costume. And I'm quite sure I've read just as many comics as most of you, if not more.

Actually, I'm not so sure a comic accurate suit wouldn't look even more ludicrous in a live action movie, no matter who's directing. I'm probably more partial to TDK suit because I loved the prototype in BB before he spray-painted it. I thought that would've been a fantastic look, and TDK costume is somewhat reminiscent of it. But to suggest anyone who likes TDK suit is somehow a brainwashed soul who isn't familiar with the comic book is a little off base.

While it's true that the 'standing on police car pic' went go over pretty well, feelings toward the suit went down hill quickly from there. What I found most interesting during that period was the number of people who had previously expressed a dislike of the Begins suit suddenly taking a liking to that ole rubber suit once they got a good look at the TDK blunder

And I suspect the same thing will happen again. Typical, actually. Spiderman had probably the most comic accurate suit to date, and people over there were crying that it was "too perfect" for a teen to have made, even though they're fine with him building webshooters from scratch. Oh, the irony lol

OK i guess my last post was kinda *****ey, so i apologize for it.

I dunno guys after so many comics there is an image of Batman that's stuck in my head. Whether black and grey or all black (you dont have to adapt the comics suit with the panties) he is a wraith, he is a monster, he is... he is not robotic, not armored. His armour is subtle and only seen if you damage the suit's outer layers. I just dont like this version of Batman that's clad in armor and has a towel thrown over his shoulders. He looks ugly and feels heavy and slow. He is not that terrorizing monster we saw scaring Falcone.

It should be a cowl that extends down to a cape and cloaks most of him. The opening at the front allows you to see his subtle suit with only a belt, an emblem and some fins on his arms. That's it. That's Batman.

Some pics to illustrate what i mean:

It seems that in the second pic the Joker has stolen the Matrix of Leadership.

lol, it is quite funny actually, when you figure it all out, what has really been going on behind the scenes with this type of guy...just looking at those costumes, all that skintight muscle crap, the obsession with it and all that, I mean, it is no wonder their girlfriends or wives leave them...they are like those married guys who go to the gym, and are only really into women who are built like men, all that horrible looking overdeveloped muscle and stuff, veins popping Bane style...so what happens is their wife/gf leaves them as they realise they are a closet case, and what they do is, go after the guy who they blame for their marriage breaking up(in some abstract way of blaming, but it is really just their own fault), and go to great pains to plan and brainwash that guy into thinking he is gay, or at least make *his* gf/wife think he is gay, lol, even though he knows he is not, and fail, but it is their last resort of battle, so they once again, go for little jabs here and there, failing again and again. Thinking they will pop up when least expected.
What that guy should go is go find himself a nice fellah, or at least one of those muscle bound women they are into and pretend he is a fellah.
That is what those pics say to me anyway, and i am usually right about this kind of stuff.

The Joker is not really interested in leadership, he is interested in chaos, yes, he has henchmen/followers, and leads them, but he ultimately leads them to their own destruction, this is why his followers are all morons.

That second pic is Dick.
Yes its him, but the suit isnt really different, is it?

Ha! And here I thought I was the only one.

Oh no way, I still think if he would have slapped an emblem on just that, it would probably be the best costume to date on film. While it's sort of reminiscent of TDK suit, it was still a bit more organic, not quite as busy. And it just looked damn cool :cwink:

I've said the same thing. I think the suit needs to look more organic. I like the idea of criminals thinking of Batman as more of a "creature" than a guy in body armor.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the TDK suit. People just like bltching for bltchings' sake.

Those comic pics don't look like a "wraith" or a "monster" though. This is always brought up, that Batman needs to look like that; If Batman ever looks like a wraith or a monster, he won't look much like Batman.

That argument needs to die.

The first and second pictures almost certainly do.

I think that the Suit from BB was a good tester for Nolan and it to get away from the nipples on the chest. But when Nolan upgraded the suit for TDK he made it so bulky if there is a way to make it fitting to the Batman verse by somehow taking cues from Tron and from the first two Noaln films then we might get a Bat suit that is functional, sleek, and not as bulky as the prior two generations of Nolans.

I think that this would be a great place to start for new ideas for the suit.

If they can incorporate Jason Todd's Bat suit from BFTC and what Nolan has done with the suit and we might get a really decent outfit for Batman.
