If not TDK legs, maybe Inception legs? We all know TDKR will open larger than TDK. Inception type legs wouldn't be so bad IMO.

Inception had better legs than TDK (of course having a much lower OW helps there)

But I'd settle for TA legs, which were also worse than TDK

Did it? I'll have to go check again. Wow.

TA right now is not quite at 3x, it's like right on the cusp, 2.97 or something. But it opened to 207M so it was going to have a lower multiplier. I think TDK is like 3.37x or so, but for Avengers to have had that, it would have had to make nearly 700M, and that wasn't going to happen. I know the competition for Avengers was weak, but when we got into June and some movies like Prometheus, Brave, Madagascar 3 came out, it didn't have a chance at that kind of money.

TDKR just broke the Marathon sales record set by TA which had 30,000 in advanced ticket sales. TDK Marathon is already over 60,000.

Difference between May and July, and having to sit through 6 movies vs. 3 movies. The marathons add very little to the BO totals, maybe a few million. 60,000 if you think about it, is not a very big sample of all the people that will see the movie.

But good for TDKR. I personally don't have the attention span to sit through those kinds of marathons. I remember in college going to a party where we tried to watch all 3 of the original Star Wars Trillogy back to back. I got have way through Empire and I fell asleep.

TA will end up with a 3.0 multiplier, eventually.

TDK had 3.37.

Inception had 4.67.

So Inception legs would be very nice. :hehe:

I can't imagine it either. One of my friends had a small LOTR marathon party where they watched each one back to back to back. 9 hours. Ugh, my butt hurts just THINKING about it...

Quit downplaying the potential success of this franchise and enjoy the ride like the rest of us.

Does the amount of money made from the trilogy tickets go only to TDKR's sales? Or will they be distributed to BB and TDK?

I have heard it will all account towards TDKR. Now the interest is 6 points higher than TA and 7 vs The Hunger Games. Interest is higher among males vs females but females are being persuaded into seeing Rises by males and because of Selina Kyle :woot:

With 60,000+ in trilogy tickets sold, it is probably around $2m in revenue just from those shows alone. That is huge.

How exactly am I downplaying the potential success? Good for TDKR. I'm merely pointing out the fact that for the marathon shows and the midnights I fully expect TDKR was going to win out.

No the sales goes directly to TDKR. it's like selling someone a $50 dollar ticket to go directly to TDKR.

Not exactly. $25/$40 respectively. Its a Marathon to see this entire great trilogy. I can sit through all 3 with no problem. As a matter of fact, I am watching BB right now on FX and will again on Thursday.

I've decided to watch the first two in the comfort of my home.

Me too, but since my AC is down, I wouldn't really call it "comfort". :woot:

I just started BB, and I forgot I don't have it on Blu Ray, but in HD DVD. "welcome to HD DVD, it's like your DVDs just got a.whole.lot.better".

RIP: HD DVD.:csad:

Heard critics say to watch BB before Rises to get a better idea of TDKR. How can you skip TDK? :whatever:

Because most people are probably very familiar with TDK. You'd be surprised how many average joes are out there who don't even know of BB's existence.
